Audio/Video Quality: Mike's Apartment was presented in the common 1.33:1 ratio full frame offering by Reality Kings using a series of uncredited directors to shoot the scenes (though I'm sure that the one most of the scenes were shot by was Robert Rosenberg given his voice behind the camera) as released in the MPEG-2 codec of a standard definition release. The lighting was okay, the sets were basic, and the resulting visual aspects of the movie were generic but much better than what you'd find on most websites these days when surfing the internet. The composition of the shots was usually optimal to the ladies who were allowed ample opportunity to show off their impressive bodies, following a generic formula that had them slowly stripping naked and putting on a sex show with one of the men in most cases (except the bonus scene which was a solo act). The grain wasn't a huge factor, nor was the video noise though and the bitrate was typically in the mid 2.3 Mbps range and thankfully, I didn't see any compression artifacts. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English using the standard 192 Kbps bitrate and a 48 kHz sampling rate but there did not appear to be any separation between the channels. The music was not a factor once the credits finished up and the voices, while slightly on the low side and hollow, were not as bad as expected.

Body of Review: Reality Kings used to be one of those companies that I did not pay much attention to until an industry insider by the name of Howard Levine kept hounding me about it. Having known the man for the better part of a decade, I know how to filter his press releases with the proverbial grain of salt yet he seemed so darned earnest about some of their works, resulting in my picking up a few titles he proposed were hotter than the covers or cast would indicate. So far, I have to admit that Howard wasn't just playing the high pressure sales shill but offering a true look at some smut I would have otherwise overlooked in my quest to find the best of the best, resulting in me selecting Mike's Apartment Volume 1 a few days ago. The concept of the series is to showcase European ladies that are in need of an apartment, usually for short term housing, yet lack the cash to pay for it. They end up taking off their clothing and having sex as a means of compensation, many of them never before seen in porn but looking downright hot! The general formula of the show doesn't involve circus act sex, rough sex acts, or anything markedly out of the norm yet I found myself needing to focus to keep my hands on the keyboard as I watched their exploits, the "fresh babe" angle surprising me as much as the running time of the movie and bonus scene that lasted over four hours. I have seen a lot of scenes shot for the internet that looked like crap and had the stroke value of old nuns bathing but this was a show that serious had me contemplating checking out the company website (where I found a whole lot more material to satisfy even my jaded eyes). The cover said it like this: "Mike places an ad in the newspaper offering a room for rent. Babes come in to apply and guess how they have to pay for it? The babe rings the bell, Mike shows her the apartment and asks for an outrageous price. The babe of course is broke and is convinced to have sex or masturbate in front of the camera. All of the material that you will find here is unique!" Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used, along with scene descriptions and individual scene trailers for each scene for those still interested:

Scene One: Debbie, a lean brunette with limited English speaking skills, was up first with Tony Meloni on a bed after she negotiated with him and Renato (who sounded suspiciously like Robert Rosenberg) over how she would pay for the apartment. Summary: Mike's Apartment by the infamous Reality Kings was a surprise hit for me that came out of nowhere to earn every bit of a Highly Recommended thanks to the replay value, strokability, fresh nature of the ladies, and amount of fuck for the buck. I know that most of the scenes you will find on the internet are pretty lame (at least in my experience) but a quick look at the series website convinced me as much as any of the futurists that as much as a collector like me prefers the physical medium of DVD, there is something to be said about scenes as good as these available online. In short, Mike's Apartment was far better than imagined and if you like seeing gals that are not shot out in a very basic setting that still managed to provide better than usual technical values for the type of scene provided, you will like this one a whole lot.
