There was also a slide show, a photogallery, and trailers to shows like Pirates II,Island Fever 4, Babysitters, Deeper 10, Jack's Teen America 18, Jack's Leg Show, Shay Jordan: All American Girl, Pirates I, and Katsuni Video Nasty.

Audio/Video Quality: Riley Steele Perfect Pet was presented in the usual 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen as shot by director Robby D. for Digital Playground. The standard definition version of the flick was shown in 480i resolution with the MPEG-2 codec deployed, the video bitrate varying substantially but often pushing 6.1 Mbps, a main selling point being how it was shot using the new "Red" digital camera system that allows for quality similar to 35mm film without all the grain most porn shot on film tends to have. Having heard all about it from Robby and researched it independently myself, the bottom line is that the camera system provides a lot more resolution/detail/depth of field/contrast ratios/etc than even the best high end equipment used by the rest of the industry. That said, whatever definition and other visual boost the equipment provides, it is still compressed and down converted to whatever medium the scenes are placed on so tech junky numbers aside, it "potentially" looks better than anything else in the field but balances that with the size of the camera (some of the best porn on the market is shot with low end commercial cameras that allow others to provide all sorts of camera angles and fluid movement you can't get when tied to a tripod). Robby has always stayed on the bleeding edge of technology and some scenes looked very appealing while others were in need of a tune up. That said, the editing by Nick P. was solid and again award worthy, the colors rich and full, and the relatively static nature of most camera shots not a problem. There were no obvious problems with compression artifacts or edge enhancement, my personal taste for fewer close ups in favor of more medium and long shots again not catered to but this is a stylish choice Robby has long favored. Summing it all up, the picture looked warm and fetching though I suspect with experience, it will look even better given some of the mainstream projects that have used the same equipment have looked. The audio was again the standard 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround English using the usual 384 Kbps and 48 kHz sampling rate, the surround track added in during post production rather than employing a true surround process during the movie's shooting schedule. The vocals were clear in most cases and blended into the music well enough, the dynamic range decent but not exceptional any more than the separation of the tracks.

Body of Review: Robby D. has long tried to keep ahead of the learning curve where new technologies are concerned, spending ample time over the past year becoming intimately familiar with the new "RED" camera technology. While I like advances nearly as much as he does, I also understand that new equipment translates into a learning curve, even a big company like Digital Playground having to deal with it. That said, the latest release using the technology is Riley Steele Perfect Pet, a series of six scenes with half of them showcasing lovely contract starlet Riley Steele. These three scenes amount to more footage of her than all her previous movies for the company combined, her blond hair, blue eyes, and sleek figure enough to make for an easy sell. The scenes did not appear to have a lot in common this time outside of the ladies acting like kept pets but frankly, fans of Riley should be stroking themselves all the way to their local porn emporium to pick up a copy (my tardy review the result of a nasty scratched disc that a friend fixed for me this morning). Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Riley Steele, the cute blond contract star featured on the front cover, was up first as she walked over to sleepy Erik Everhard in her black lingerie. She was in the mood to mingle and woke him up, handing him a paddle to smack her sweet ass with. In short, Riley Steele Perfect Pet was not the very best the company has offered of late but it served to showcase Riley Steele really well, the young lady just beginning to show her performance chops in a manner that will certainly draw attention in the future.
