Extras: After starting off with some spam (with cute Sunny Leone and others hawking the company's stuff), the rest of the extras provided some nice stroke value. There were not many of them, a handful of trailers and more spam, but the length of the scenes largely made up for it again. This time though, there was a solid (and complete!) bonus scene between Alyssa Hall and Adrianna Nicole lasting 45:01 minutes long, the lesbian action showing neither gal was new to doing other women; her main scene with Jerry included in the movie itself. The advertised BTS was incorporated into the scenes themselves, providing a better overview of the mindset of the ladies, and it worked better than a separate extra as such.

Audio/Video Quality: Brand New Faces 16 was presented in the same 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color it was shot in by director B. Skow for Vivid Entertainment using the standard definition MPEG-2 codec (with 480i resolution). For those unfamiliar with his background, suffice it to say that his experience outside of porn is superior to many inside the industry and it shows up in his movies, though presented in the SD format (for now) as shot in 1080i to provide a lot of resolution supporting some of the effects (making it look more like a real movie than just a porno). The lighting was well handled and this added to the pleasure of watching the gals in play as the lengthy scenes gave them enough freedom to explore what was advertised as their first scenes (with a money back guarantee advertised on the back cover). The composition of the camera angles and lighting were almost always optimal this time, Skow seeing fit to try and enhance the look of the five ladies at every turn as possible. The fleshtones were accurate this time and the DVD mastering was well done (in a bitrate hovering around 4.3 Mbps), making it a mixed bag in terms of visual quality; leaning towards above average and showing some additional grain this time. Some will rail about the watermark on the lower right hand corner of the scenes but it went away pretty quickly so don't worry about it; my biggest complaint being that having reviewed one of the series in Blu-Ray last year, the standard definition follow ups seem a bit lifeless by comparison. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English (in 192 Kbps with a 48 kHz sampling rate) offering with the vocals sounding flat and the music pretty decent. For some reason, the levels were about the same as usual but aside from the added background noise, the dynamic range was average and the separation of the vocal track nonexistent.

Body of Review: B. Skow has been the driving force at Vivid Entertainment in terms of providing good looking porn in recent years; typically bringing something unique to the mix as he enhanced the performances of the ladies he shot for the company under so many sets of circumstances. His latest release is a bit different in that it was a series of lengthy scenes called Brand New Faces 16; a movie dedicated to showcasing four lovely young ladies in their first scenes for porn and the sequel to the popular Brand New Faces 15: The MILF Edition I saw recently. The porn industry is replete with gals claiming to be in their first scenes ever but the catch this time was the cover promising a "100% Money-Back Guarantee" that these were the first times the ladies were on film. Be that as it may, the cover also promised that the scenes were candid and given my experience with newcomers, I was hoping Skow could pull a rabbit out of a hat and also make them award winning performances. Also of interest to me was the fact that Skow's name appeared nowhere on the cover either front or back, strange considering the award winning director is a major selling point thanks to his skill with the camera as well as the ladies. If you're still interested, here's a quick glimpse into the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Savannah Skye, a bleach blond with interesting teeth, was up first as Skow used his charisma to pull the shy gal out of her shell. She was wearing a black dress and admitted to being a tease, signing her certificate as the Ukrainian gal explained that she moved here 4 years ago, the 19 year old still kind of shy until she warmed up. The scene was shot exactly a year ago to the day (on 3/14/2008) and while I have long appreciated the timeliness of the scenes in the earlier volumes of the series, I know just how busy the director has been so it is understandable that this would occur with time, his taking over the lead spot on the quality movies made for Vivid forcing some changes. Savannah followed the standard formula of teasing, stripping, masturbating, and then doing a guy; in this case the lucky dude being Jerry. While she was a novice to being shot on camera, she showed some intimate knowledge of a meat pipe, sucking him off as though she'd seen some action in Woodland Hills but keeping her fresh attitude with her, not coming across as too polished. They did oral on each other and engaged in a 69 before she climbed onto his pecker while the pair worked on the bed. She let loose with the juice (either "squirting" as Skow claimed or just losing her piss as I believed) as he plowed her in multiple positions vaginally, her tightness evident given the amount of moaning Jerry provided. While she was not an active ride, few newcomers to porn are, she appeared to have some potential as the gal next door type, milking a large wad of genetic juice from his balls that landed mostly on her chest.

Scene Two: London Keyes, a sexy brunette as seen on the lower left hand corner of the front cover, was up first and the first thing I thought about was how closely she resembled Ashley Blue with better curves. Her partner for the day was moper Trent Tesoro but as an added bonus, she started the scene with Victoria Shay, the gal some of you might remember from Brand New Faces 14. Victoria was scheduled to work the following day but she gave up tease footage (flashing) but London was the starlet of the day, already seen in a few dozen fuck flicks at this writing. London claimed to be a stripper and given her outgoing nature and friskiness, I had absolutely no doubt about this fact. Skow liked her tits more than her ass but she seemed to appreciate the fun factor of porn as much as the "bank" (which she was already making as a stripper), the cutie glib enough that she could make it big with the right connections. From my point of view, she was a clear winner compared to many of her peers in the series, able to blend the newness of her career with enough sexual experience that she shined that way too. The solo act was short but she enjoyed Trent going down on her, her own blowjob proving her comments from the interview. I got the impression that she was used to much larger cocks inside of her but she treated him like royalty during the hummer and vaginal screwing, eventually taking his population pudding on her sweet little ass. Nice!

Scene Three: Hailey Star, the skinny brunette seen on the upper right hand corner of the cover, was up next and given the size of her implants, she looked the most like a professional here. She was dressed like a "rocker chick" with her tank top and cut up jeans, her claim to wanting even larger implants enough to turn me off a bit right from the beginning (even the tits she was sporting looked too out of place for her tiny frame). She had a decent bit of nervous energy in the scene shot on 3/24/2008, hailing from Boston and looking older than she claimed to be. If you like skinny chicks with a lot more polished action than usual for the series, she will appeal to you more than she did to me but I admit that even her "Marty Feldman" nipples did not distract me as much as usual. She teased at length and masturbated before Voodoo joined her in the scene, my initial reaction being that she was not as polished sexually as she was in the interview. Hailey had problems sucking more than a few inches of his cock so she worked it with her hand more than I cared to see, Skow holding her back a bit from the kind of foreplay she enjoyed. In terms of the vaginal penetration, Hailey gave all the usual moans and did several positions but never seemed to have the sort of chemistry displayed by London even is she was as active a rider as I have seen in the series. The ending was a facial that Voodoo jerked out as she looked at the camera, his minimal wad landing all over the place before she provided some post coital head.

Scene Four: Allyssa Hall, the babe featured on the center of the front cover, was up next as she catered to Skow by discrediting her "bonus scene" efforts with Adrianna Nicole (which I thought was pretty solid in a "gay for pay" manner). Allyssa had a whole lot of nervous energy as she giggled incessantly, much of her performance striking me as just that, a performance. Technically, this was her second scene since she was shot for the series previously in what was used for the bonus scene, but as her first time on camera doing a guy, I could see why Jerry enjoyed her so much. Skow made a big deal about this being the first lady he had back for a second scene, my own sensibilities telling me this should have been the bonus scene and the lesbian bit should have been here due to the theme of the series. In any case, she struck me as being kind of high given her bubbly personality, the scene moving very quickly through the usual paces. The interview, tease, and solo portions of the scene really helped make the 19 year old's performance pretty interesting by comparison, the oral and vaginal plowing providing some measure of strokability and replay value above the norm if not as much as the rest of the cast's best moments. Jerry seemed to again be into the action more than expected, her own response showing similar enthusiasm indicative of her future potential. The gal might have been slightly flaky but she took the facial well enough and with some coaching, she is another that could become a fan favorite.

Summary: Brand New Faces 16 by director B. Skow for Vivid Entertainment was worth a rating of Recommended to me for all the action, the new faces, and the technical handling of the scenes but fans of brand new gals will think it was a "must have" since the ladies looked and performed their roles so well. I can't definitively state that none of them have shot a professional scene before but unlike so many titles that Vivid sits on for years as part of their marketing approach, Brand New Faces 16 was rushed right to the pressing plant to jump on the newness factor (something other companies seem to have embraced in the past as many of you like to see "firsts", real or imagined). Whatever the reality of the marketing claim though, all four of the ladies were breaths of fresh air and deserve some accolades for providing enough fuck for the buck, strokability, and replay value to make this a keeper for your collection. Skow does it again with his attentive nature to make these four ladies shine better than his peers could hope to, the series website probably the best thing the company has provided in a long time in terms of consistent quality. This time, London Keys stole the spotlight but there was enough quality in the other scenes that I almost increased the rating a notch so check it out.
