Audio/Video Quality: Ass Titans was presented in an anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 widescreen color the movie was shot in by director Raul Cristian for Evil Angel in the MPEG-2 codec used for standard definition releases (including 480i resolution). There was some variation in the lighting that added additional grain but I saw a few other issues as the camera kept an active stance at trying to provide the best angles to showcase the ladies (the shaking camera bugging me a bit more than I liked but I've come to expect this from Raul and assistant David Perry). The editing did not help in this endeavor either with a movie as long as this one needing extra care to make sure that there is enough tease but also heated sexual antics, my initial impression being that there was less tease footage than usual which admittedly hurt the rating. The bitrate was on the low side (probably due to the single disc nature of the production) yet there were few obvious compression artifacts, the aliasing minimal and given the sheer amount of quality footage on display, most fans will be quite happy; Raul allowing the ladies to provide some heated raw energy even if his attempts to capture it were mixed. The bitrate hovered all over the place this time, higher than usual with most of the movie in the 3.8 Mbps range, but varying across the board depending on the scene. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English (at 192 Kbps with a 48 kHz sampling rate) offering that really didn't use any separation in terms of the vocals (there was some potential to do so here too). The dynamic range was also kind of generic, an area that seemed slightly better than previous efforts and an area that Raul could easily improve to make best use of the great many home theaters in the hands of porn fans everywhere.

Body of Review: Raul Cristian is known for his hardcore direction at a couple of companies, not least of which is distributed by Evil Angel. Unlike some of his peers, his movies are less about playful anal than pushing the ladies in scenes that make it seem as if they are part of the "abuse" niche practically founded by guys like Max Hardcore and gals like Belladonna. While it is not always as clear that the ladies enjoy what they are doing in his movies, his latest flick to come my way, Ass Titans, strikes me as a selection of work that will keep people guessing as some gals are very uncomfortable at being slapped, spit on, and yelled at. With names such as Phoenix Marie, Jessica Lynn, Kristina Rose, and others at the helm of their personal scenarios, I found the "100% American" ladies to be well worth checking out despite some reservations in the way the scenes were shot. Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Jessica Lynn, the curvy blond from the front cover, and brunette Savannah Stern seen beside her, were up first with moper Mike Angelo, the ladies giving some lesbian tease before smoking his pole orally. The circus act sex was a bit on the uneven side and the male cast members were not as consistently talented as the ladies, but gals like Kristina Rose, Phoenix Marie, and Jessica Bangkok really added some flavor to the mix. In short, Ass Titans will not appeal to you if you have to have anal action in each scene but the wealth of booty was enough to appease a lot of you and this serves as a decent introduction to the director's work, not as hardcore as his harshest stuff but not as lightweight as it could be either.
