Audio/Video Quality: Oil Spills was presented in an anamorphic widescreen color with a 1.78:1 aspect ratio as shot by director Ray Bones for Diabolic Digital as offered in 480 resolution using the MPEG-2 codec of standard definition. The five scenes all included lots of oil (as advertised) and decent lighting, helping eliminate most visual flaws with the production. There was some grain and the compression artifacts were minimal but the video bitrate was higher than I expected with much of the footage hovering around the 5.5 Mbps area, the editing a bit on the unpolished side but otherwise looking pretty good on my big screen television. The lighting varied substantially though and for what it's worth, the camera was far too often handled with a strong leaning towards close ups. None of the scenes looked bad but some of them did look better than others so I hope to compare more of Ray's works to see how he fares in more difficult to shoot titles but I can't fault him much for what I saw here. The audio was presented in a 1.0 monaural at 192 Kbps and with a 48 kHz sampling rate without any separation or elevated dynamic range; covering the basics only (though the company is certainly not alone in that department if you catch my drift).

Body of Review: While some directors in porn like to self promote endlessly, there are many others that keep a low profile while serving up solid titles, Ray Bones at Diabolic Digital coming to mind as one of them. Last week, his newest title, Oil Spills, came out and if you are as much a fan of the abundant use of oil to make a hotty look even hotter as I am, you will know why the title struck a nerve in me. Sporting names like Alexis Texas, Kristina Rose, and even the comeback of Trina Michaels, I figured this might be one of the better titles of the week as I looked at the back box cover to see exactly the kind of hardcore fucking and shiny babes I adore in porn these days. The company website said it like this: "If you like your women to be oiled and slick - as they're sucking your balls and rock-hard dick, then Diabolic's deviant Oil Spills will give you plenty of Slippery Erotic Thrills! Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

In short, Oil Spills was the kind of series I would like to see pushed a little further by Ray in the future, his attention to technical detail not as absolute as a few of his peers but still well within reason for the guy as he shows the kind of casting designed to provide fuck for the buck value, in this case, all slickened up with oil.
