Audio/Video Quality: Jana Cova: Belle was presented in the usual 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color as envisioned by director Celeste for Digital Playground in the usual MPEG-2 codec reserved for standard definition releases (shot in 1080i but down converted to this 480p presentation). The lighting was generally solid here, reducing the grain, video noise, and other defects that sometimes arise in making porn on a budget; favoring a clear focus in some cases that I was convinced worked very well even if some tint issues arose during a few scenes (primarily the scenes starring Jana Cova herself looking quite green). Joey Pulgadas was credited as the editor but given the "special thanks" to Kurt Torcher and Nick P., I figure the dynamic duo of post production handled the additional editing here. The overall style of the production seemed mixed to me though, a lot of the older style work Robby used to shot with a touch of his more recent homages best describes the scenes. The DVD mastering revealing no compression artifacts; with the bitrate for the visuals hovering around the mid 6.4 Mbps this time with few flaws but not as low in resolution as previous efforts in related showcase efforts from prior to last year. The audio was presented in a 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround English using a 384 Kbps bitrate and 48 kHz sampling rate; over twice that of most porn made these days, with a minimalist leaning that seemed unique in most ways to productions outside of the Jack series, but the vocals did not always dominate the audio track as I like it so your mileage may vary. There wasn't much separation between the channels, if any outside of the intermittent music, but the ladies were always clearly heard here. The light jazz flavored score was pretty decent this time too, working in most cases to enhance the scenes.

Body of Review: Jana Cova was one of my favorite performers that only did other women, the Czech Republic babe presenting herself differently than the stripper-turned performers I'm used to in the industry but also with a freshness able to handle her raw sexuality. Despite my occasional misgivings for the work of director Celeste at Digital Playground, the movies credited to her often seemed best at capturing Jana's inner beauty as well as her smoldering sensuality in such a way that I could rarely pass them up. Well, next month will see the release of another Jana Cova spotlight in Jana Cova: Belle, the beauty queen getting three scenes of lesbian action along with two more by other gals with men. I'm terrible at guessing what specific niche the company shoots for these days, the Celeste titled flicks almost always invoking an erotic feel rather than the pounding gonzo action Robby provides when he shoots under his own name, but aside from some small scale projects by Jana for her personal website (Club Jana Cova) by Playtime Promotions, there have been few scenes of Jana at her best released anywhere else so I sat back to enjoy the movie, knowing it would end all too soon (rumors about this being Jana's last title for the company hopefully proving wrong). Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Maya Hills and Tony DeSergio

Scene One: Jana Cova, the sexy blond featured in red on the front cover, was up first during the credits as she pawed Kina Kai in the living room. Little was said between the ladies as they felt each other up and ate at the Y, the tint of the setting looking remarkably green when I watched it (maybe someone set the camera up wrong?!?). Summary: Jana Cova: Belle by director Celeste for Digital Playground was one of the shortest movies I've reviewed in quite some time, clocking in at under 80 minutes with minimal extras, but I would again remind folks that if they are fans of Jana Cova, it should definitely be on your short list for movies coming out in May. For the majority of you however, I would suggest you check it out as a Rent It first given that my own devotion to Jana is not universal and I refuse to let my biases interfere with my duties to inform the public. In short, Jana Cova: Belle had three lesbian scenes starring Jana Cova and the lighthearted manner in which Robby shot the action for his gal pal will certainly appeal to a niche of people out there that find Jana as hot as ever.
