Audio/Video Quality: Pole Position 9 was presented in an anamorphic widescreen at 1.78:1 as shot by director Lexington Steele for Mercenary Pictures in this MPEG-2 encoded, 480p resolution, effort. While I don't get to see many movies from the company these days (mainly ones I'm voting for or against in different award shows), it is good to see that the company finally made the transition to anamorphic widescreen and will be even better when the learning curve of such productions is beyond the beginning point. The company is not known for its technical expertise (except, perhaps, the Jimmy Scaffnetti titles), but there did appear to be an attempt to handle things properly here. The show appears to have been captured by a single fluidly moving camera (with all the tradeoffs associated with that choice), the camera itself appearing to have less resolution, especially under lower lighting circumstances, but easy enough to handle during the throes of passion. The video bitrate varied substantially but when I spot checked it, the results showed to be in the 4.8 Mbps area a lot (sometimes higher, sometimes lower). The audio was presented in the standard 2.0 Dolby Digital English with a 192 Kbps bitrate and 48 kHz sampling rate. The vocals were generally easily heard, the director appearing to use the microphone attached to the camera and sticking close to them, sacrificing the medium and long shots to do so but the aural qualities of the voices were okay. There was no separation between the channels and the dynamic range was minimal but my biggest complaint was the inclusion of an ongoing, generic music track in the background (it got better with time as I learned to tune it out).

Body of Review: Lexington Steele has long been one of the most award winning male performers in the porn industry, his attempts at directing also recognized by some of us critics that appreciate diversity. While not known for technical excellence, Lex's movies show him to be confident, laid back, and often in front of the camera as talent at Mercenary Pictures, this helping to insure his movies have enough raw energy to win out over the multitude of polished efforts populating the market. While I haven't seen many of his movies in recent years, a few came in the other day including Pole Position 9, a point of view title starring Lex himself with a plethora of curvy women many of us appreciate. With ladies like Flower Tucci, Sarah Vandella, and Rebeca Linares, the movie was also 80% interracial for those keeping track, the lure of a big black dick stuffed inside the holes of the women undeniably interesting. Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Summary: Pole Position 9 by director Lexington Steele for Mercenary Pictures benefitted greatly by the inclusion of Flower Tucci and Sarah Vandella but the other ladies were generally pretty decent performers too. The movie was truthfully advertised as all point of view and all Lexington Steele so the concern that he hired third tier mopers or others not up to his speed are unfounded. I rated the movie as a Rent It but fans of POV material with a lot of interracial might see fit to upgrade that a notch or two so keep an open mind (just not an empty head). In short, Pole Position 9 was truthfully advertised in most respects so it is clear that Lex is maintaining his usual level of quality at this writing.
