Extras: The best extra was an unrelated scene from Alexis Texas is Buttwoman that I described below. The next best extra was the 6:01 minute long Behind the Scenes feature that showed a lot of enthusiasm and energy on the sets of the movie. Mason was in charge and the cast was having a lot of fun as usual with Mason interjecting comments but all the ladies participants having fun (though the black gals were not present). Audio/Video Quality: Battle of the Asses was presented in a crisp 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color as released by director Sam No/Mason for Elegant Angel using the standard definition MPEG-2 codec with 480p resolution (the Blu-ray in a sharp 1080p using the advanced VC-1 codec for a much better picture). The camera work was solid with plentiful lighting to eliminate grain, video noise and shadows and the picture appeared to be crisp this time, though a bit excessive in a few portions like Alexis' scene where the wall of lighting washed her out a bit. Mason has made or assisted on a number of titles over the years, the technical matters taking back seat (pun intended) to the raw energy of the sex, but her skill levels have definitely been improving with the camera too, showing she pays attention to those that care. I saw no compression artifacts (it was largely falling around a 3.9 Mbps video bitrate; modest enough for a SD flick but better than many on the market these days; the Blu-ray much more variable but often in the 19.1 Mbps area) and the composition of the camera angles strongly favored the female performers as most of her work these days tends to do. The 2.0 Dolby Digital English track was pretty basic with little separation or dynamic range yet I could hear the cast well enough in most cases. For those keeping track, the audio was offered in a 192 Kbps offering with a 48 kHz sampling rate, plenty of room considering how little took place on it but leaving room for future efforts too. The music came from My Beat Shop, including riffs from Team Green, 7Dollabeats, IndustryReadyBeats, The NuClear Headz, and Pyro Productionz; appreciated in each case, the edits helping make the blending of sight and sound especially heated during the montage openings.

Body of Review: Sam No/Mason is probably the most twisted director at Elegant Angel these days, competing against directors elsewhere such as Belladonna or Jake Malone in terms of pushing the limits of a select group of gals that like to do it all regardless of what they are "supposed" to like. Mason's latest title making it to me is Battle of the Asses, a selection of scenes starring some of the most bootilicious babes in all of porn such as Alexis Texas, Ava Rose, Kelly Divine, and Rachel Starr. The five scenes (six if you include the bonus scene from Alexis Texas is Buttwoman) also included some color with wonderfully ripe Pinky and phat assed Cherokee D'Ass, Rachel making her comeback loud and clear. Given the director, cast and company it was being shot for, I had a tremendous amount of faith that this was going to be a bunch of bouncing bun fun that I would be praising for some time to come, emphasis on the "come" part seeing how much quality tease there was offered up. Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Alexis Texas, the bountiful babe from my home state seen featured on the right hand side of the cover, was up first with talented Michael Stefano. The net result of the better action by Kelly Divine, Ava Rose, Rachel Starr, and Alexis Texas was enough to earn the fuck flick a rating of Highly Recommended though, the strokability, replay value, and casting superb in most ways. The high definition version was definitely an upgrade in terms of the visual appeal for me too, the large screen television almost demanding it to look proper, perhaps the picture was optimized for that version of the production. In short, Battle of the Asses was a delightful little romp into decadence related to teasing, big booties, and a wonderful cast of sexually charged performers you will definitely want to check out on your own.
