The Movie:

Jack Genereo's 1986 shot on video Dangerous Curves is one of about a bazillion 'mystery' films made in the yesteryears of porn, though there really isn't that much mystery to it and the plot is pretty predictable. It does, however, provide ample opportunity for some of the era's more recognizable performers to try and act. The results are mixed, as you'd expect, but hey, Sharon Mitchell is in it a fair bit and so is Jessica Wylde.

Adam Huxely (played by Tony Martin) is a wealthy commercial illustrator who enjoys living the good life and taking advantage of everything that this world has to offer him. Seemingly by change, he finds a copy of the diary of a super glamorous actress named Candy Lane. He starts reading it and is amazed by all of the erotic encounters that it details and by what it reveals about the woman who wrote it in the first place.

Adam's sexy, horny housekeeper, Rose (Sharon Mitchell) keeps things interesting by offering up her poon to pretty much anyone who wants it, whether it's Adam or one of the many houseguests she's in charge of taking care of. While she's fucking and sucking all who are willing, Adam's obsession with Candy Lane and her diary becomes increasingly intense and he decides to take it upon himself to find out what happened to her and why she's gone missing. Adam's agent, Jody Garrett (Jessica Wylde), comes along for the ride and gets in on all of the bumping and grinding herself as she helps her client get to the bottom of Candy Lane's story.

So okay, the story's entertaining enough even if it won't exactly leave you on the edge of your seat. The acting is, well, it's as good or bad as you'd probably expect from a low budget XXX quickie meaning that it's passable if sometimes amusingly awkward. The cinematography isn't half bad though the fact that it is shot on low grade video doesn't really allow for the production values to shine through and the whole thing feels rather cheap. But what about the sex? This is a fuck film after all. The movie actually scores decent marks in this area. Read on...

The opening scene with Mitchell and Herschel Savage going at it in a kitchen is decent enough, with Herschel spending a nice amount of time working on her perky little tits for the camera. He goes down on her for a good long time as well and it's cool to see a guy give the girl as much attention as he does here in this scene. Of course, she returns the oral favors before bending over and getting fucked from behind and ending the scene with a pop shot across the top of her ass.

The second scene finds Jessica Wylde giving Martin a blowjob in his studio. She starts it clothed but soon sheds the duds to keep on humming until he finishes this oral only scene. From there we segue into a nice lesbian scene with Sharon Mitchell and Jennifer Noxt. There's a lot of kissing in this scene to start with and Mitchell really goes to town on her new best friend's tits before eating her out. She doesn't quite dominate her here or anything that harsh but she's certainly in control of the action and you can tell she's into it, which always makes this sort of thing hotter to watch. In the next scene Herschel and Martin double team a brunette who I can't quite place. They eat her out and play with her tits and take turns fucking her and she gives them both head until they finish.

In the last scene, Martin more or less plays Marilyn Chambers' part in Insatiable as he gets fucked on a pool table. Well, maybe he doesn't quite play her part exactly, but the scenes are similar. Crystal Lee and Ms. Noxt go to town on him, taking turns sucking his cock and then riding him, playing with one another occasionally but giving him most of the attention.

The DVD

Video:

This fullframe transfer, which appears to present the film in its original aspect ratio, looks about as good as an interlaced transfer of a movie shot with a camcorder can look. The picture quality, for an older XXX film from 1986 looks alright. There's the expected amount of softness inherent in the image you'd expect to see so detail is a bit fuzzy and sometimes there's some mild color bleeding but hey, this was shot on VHS, so you can't fault for it looking like, well, a VHS tape. There is a 'Copyright 2009 VCX' bug that appears on the video a couple of times.

Sound:

The Dolby Digital Mono soundtrack is a little muffled and not of the best quality, but again, it's taken from an older source so the limitations of the era's technology are going to be there when that's the case. Dialogue is pretty easy to understand, however, and the background music comes through reasonably clear. There aren't a lot of sound effects used in the film, mostly just some random moaning and groaning during the action scenes and these are handled just fine, as are the talkier bits of the movie.

Extras:

Aside from some tacky animated menus, VCX has included three bonus scenes, the first of which is from Sex Wish (6:25) and it's more or less a lot of old inner city NYC footage before showing us a quick clip of Zebedy Colt getting his rape on. The second clip is from Practice Makes Perfect (5:26) and it features a cute blonde farm girl giving head to the farmhand in her bedroom before they lay on their sides for some spoon fucking. The third clip is from Sweet Throat (6:35) and in it a lithe brunette gives the phone repairman a blowjob until he spurts. Last but not least, we've got a clip from a French import called Two At Once (9:19) in which a suave looking dude fucks an incredibly foxy Brigitte Lahiae in his car out in the woods.

Rounding out the extras are trailers for Pleasure Palace, The Second Coming Of Eva, Sweet Throat and Flesh Fever, the Legendary Tribute montage of vintage adult movie clips as well as some animated menus, scene selection and a web-link.

Final Thoughts:

Dangerous Curves will definitely appeal to Sharon Mitchell fans, and I enjoyed it because I enjoy her work. If you don't fall into that group, however, this eighties era camcorder quickie probably won't appeal to you all that much as it's fairly average. Rent it.
