Audio/Video Quality: Ass Play was presented in the usual 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color as the scenes were presumably shot by a variety of directors for Digital Sin in this MPEG-2 standard definition release that used 480i resolution (and a video bitrate tending to hover in the 3.2 Mbps range). The quality of the scenes varied more than a little bit as some were very appealing while others were in need of better attention to detail but I still felt that the overall compilation was handled fairly well and focused on the cutie in question quite nicely. I'm new to the Lesbian Provocateur series by the company and while the women were all attractive and handled their gay for pay duties well enough, it was clear they were not usually into the action a whole lot. The fleshtones were accurate, the lighting usually good, and the composition of the shots typically good enough to enhance the look of the ladies. Oh yeah, the watermarks were back in case that matters to you (the company name on the lower right hand corner of the scenes). The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English (in 192 Kbps at a 48 kHz sampling rate), with little separation and limited dynamic range but at least the music was not as lame as it could have been in most cases.

Body of Review: Digital Sin has long seemed willing to learn from their competitors regarding what consumers want. One niche that they really haven't tended to all that well has been lesbian play, so much of their product simply that, product, and typically labeled as gay for pay. Their latest emulation attempt is called Ass Play, reminding me a lot like someone went to Europe after watching a few dozen flicks from Girlfriend Films, though this time with women strictly in the gay for pay arena. The back cover described the title like this: "We're bringing lesbian anal pleasure to a whole new level with 15 beautiful girls. Watch them fulfill their immeasurable sexual fantasies with toys, fingers, and tongues. There's no place that these untamed angels can't reach, so immerse yourself as they passionately indulge in the crevices of each others bodies. It's not just anal sex... it's sensual and breath-taking ass play." Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Faith and Bethany

Scene One: Ally N., Reyna, and Alisa, were up first on a couch, the trio of twats looking young and average in terms of looks. There was no set up here, just the ladies slowly pawing each other as they removed their clothing. They kissed and seemed okay with the gay for pay dynamic, none of them showing any significant attraction for the others. They ate box and titty, licking ass and applying toys to themselves, sort of a generic lesbian answer to the work over at Girlfriend Films.

Dalila and Selina

Scene Two: Heather and Brittany were up next in the living room on a green chair with a leopard print throw on it. They caressed each other and the wavy camera did a mediocre job of catching them in the act, the kissing and titty play leading to rug munching and fingering of both holes on each gal.

Murka and Sunny

Scene Three: Marielou and Marisol were up next, the brunette and redhead applying the same general principles to one another as they savored a few moments orally. It was a decidedly short scene as far as I was concerned, the plain gals not truly doing a whole lot, some anal penetration with a dildo showing they did not mind their limits being pushed a bit.

Amber and Gianna

Scene Four: Faith and Bethany, a pair of young gals working out in a home gym, were up next as the physical fitness angle was explored in greater detail. The machine used for pumping iron served as the platform for their lesbian tryst, the caressing and oral including anal fingering and eating.

Scene Five: Dalila and Selina, a pair of skinny gals in the bathroom, were up next exploring each other soundly, their oral skills such that even if they were not real life partners, it wouldn't matter. Also sort of homely, these two seemed to deploy flexibility as part of their repertoire, the licking including some ass munching in between toy use.

Scene Six: Murka and Sunny, some brunettes that looked like they were wearing wigs, were up next in the kitchen on a stool using a large carrot to masturbate with. There was the usual oral by the gals too but they sure loved their carrot as they drove it deep inside of each other. Otherwise, this was one of the most boring performances of the month.

Scene Seven: Amber and Gianna, a couple of skinny gals looking almost too young to be in porn, had a squirt gun fight in the bathroom next. Needless to say, that led to all sorts of lesbian hanky panky including kissing, foreplay, and vibrator use, not much of which worked for me at all.

Summary: Ass Play by Digital Sin fell way short of the mark for me on what I was expecting. Using average to homely women is not always a bad idea, some of them were even cute, but the lack of chemistry alone killed the heat for me. For the most part, only a few scenes had any strokability at all, the complete lack of replay value and appeal of the formulaic approach telling me that Ass Play was best a Skip It given the wealth of better titles, at Digital Sin and elsewhere, so if this was an experiment, it failed.
