Audio/Video Quality: The Girls of Red Light District: Katsumi was presented in 1.33:1 ratio full frame by Red Light District using a variety of directors who shot the scenes for their original releases. The lighting was almost always strong and the cameras capably manned, some compositional mishaps and minor grain appearing at times. There were a lot of close up shots in the various scenes, almost as if it were a required selling point the editors were told to leave in, the video bitrate hovering in the 2.8 Mbps range using the usual MPEG-2 codec for this standard definition compilation of previously released scenes. The fleshtones were generally accurate and while there was still a need for polishing up most of the scenes, the overall look of them was pretty decent, though the light watermark in the lower right hand corner was smaller than usual. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English, the 192 Kbps aural bitrate and 48 kHz sampling rate about average for an adult production. I could most of the vocals and the music was rarely a factor here, the experience not elevating the visual aspects particularly well but serving much like most gonzo productions expect the audio too in providing an array of loud screams and moans (with some dirty talk).

Body of Review: Red Light District was founded years ago by a handful of performer-turned-directors when they obtained financing to start a new type of gonzo production company, catering specifically to the rain coater crowd with a lot of straightforward smut one could appreciate. Along the way, there were some bumps in the road and the inevitable decline noticed by many but ultimately, they still shoot some solid smut and are now offering a series of compilations to help pay the bills. The latest of these compilations coming to me for review was The Girls of Red Light District: Katsumi, the six lengthy scenes all showcasing her sexual performance abilities very nicely indeed. While she has undergone a name change since the scenes were originally shot, there is no doubt that some of her best work was contained here, the discs harder to find now that they years have passed. Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Me Luv U Long Time #4: Katsuni, Lexington Steele, Michael Stefano: Katsumi, the featured gal on the front dvd cover and another contender for the babe award here, allowed Lex and Michael to take her. She claimed to be in the business "almost three years" (it was more like 2.5 years when this was taped) and I've seen her in some really solid scenes. Being more experienced, she took anal and a DP with some ATM with a gusto that most performers just don't show. That she could do both of these guys at once is an accomplishment, especially with a smile of her face.

Scene Two: Black Dicks in Asian Chicks: Katsuni, Darren James: Katsuni, dressed in slutty lingerie, was up next as she showed off her "long ass Asian legs" to director David Luger, a guy I haven't heard from in a very long time. There's some anal, double penetration, and the scene ends with Brianna's face getting covered in jizz. Summary: The Girls of Red Light District: Katsumi by Red Light District had a lot of her earlier work and each scene showed her off in such a manner than fans new and old will want to make sure they have them, no obvious edits or truncation taking place even if no new material was included either so I rated it as a Recommended. In short, The Girls of Red Light District: Katsumi provided a lot of Katsuni's early work when she was still a relative newcomer, her fire and passion still outpacing her performance skills so give this one a look if you don't already have the scenes, many of them notable for the amount of chemistry between her and Manuel Ferrara.
