Audio/Video Quality: MILF Wars: Julia Ann Vs Lisa Ann was presented in a letterboxed widescreen (in most cases, the other scenes in full frame) color using an aspect ratio of 1.78:1 as shot for 3rd Degree by various directors over the years using the MPEG-2 codec employed by standard definition releases. The lighting was basic but strong, eliminating the shadows and grain associated with some of his movies made for other companies. The grain was minimal as was the video noise and I got the impression that they spent more time than usual on the movie given the manner in which the edits and camera angles enhanced the looks of the nicely made up ladies. It was far from perfect but this did enhance the replay value for me as it showed more care than usual. The bitrate tended to hover around the mid 4.1 Mbps area most of the time I paid any attention to it but the numbers alone do not tell the whole story in this regard. The composition of the scenes enhanced the look of the ladies, each of them used to softer lighting in recent scenes but not needing it for the purposes of this release. The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English using the standard 224 Kbps rate using a 48 kHz sampling rate most titles are mastered with, the aural experience fairly limited due to the nature of the gonzo shoot. There was no separation between the channels and the dynamic range was as truncated as ever, standard gonzo audio being okay for most consumers.

Body of Review: 3rd Degree is a completely owned subsidiary of Zero Tolerance, the gonzo production empire recently winning the Xcritic Studio of the Year 2009 for a variety of reasons. While providing scores of sexy movies with all sorts of top name talent, they occasionally present themed compilations fans seem to appreciate. One of the most recent titles in this vein was MILF Wars: Julia Ann Vs Lisa Ann, the box cover conveniently leaving out the fact that this was a compilation of already released scenes using the experience of both Lisa and Julia Ann in four scenes apiece as though they were in a contest for superiority. There was no new footage here and the scenes were presented in letterboxed widescreen instead of true anamorphic so buyer beware, but I gave a detailed look at the scenes all the same. Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Filthy 3: Julia Ann, Prince Yahshua: Julia Ann opens her scene on a divan in a long black dress and promises some good things to come, but first she wants to spend some time with you. She does so by

The missing BTS feature will likely cause a few people to scream but at least the back cover's advertised "over 2 hours" was actually over three hours so the marketing department loses on one hand and gains on the other, my personal opinion being that this was easily worth a rating of Rent It or better depending on what you expect from a porno. In short then, MILF Wars: Julia Ann Vs Lisa Ann was not the very best the company had to offer but it might prove to be enough to get some of you into looking up the original scenes so give it a look.
