Extras: The first extra was the 13:43 minute long bonus scene from The Watcher 3 starring Briana Banks, Pat Myne, and Bobby Vitale (as shot by then-loser Robby D.). I've seen the scene before in a compilation as well as the original release but it was a cute bit from the vaults all the same. There was also a 22:28 minute Behind the Scenes feature (where Briana wore the same outfit as displayed a couple of years ago in the Xcritic forums, where she asked for fan input for the scenes of the movie). Audio/Video Quality: Briana Extreme was presented in the same 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color it was shot in by director B. Skow for Vivid Entertainment using the standard definition MPEG-2 codec in 480i resolution. For those unfamiliar with his background, suffice it to say that his experience outside of porn is superior to many inside the industry and it shows up in his movies, including this one as shot in 1080i high definition, though presented in the SD format (for now) using 1080i to provide a lot of resolution supporting some of the effects (making it look more like a real movie than just a porno). The lighting was well handled and this added to the pleasure of watching Briana in play as the lengthy scenes gave her enough freedom to explore her sexuality a little. The composition of the camera angles and lighting were almost always optimal this time, Skow seeing fit to try and enhance the look of the ladies at every turn as possible. The fleshtones were accurate too and the DVD mastering was well done (if only in a bitrate hovering around 4.1 Mbps), making it a mixed bag in terms of visual quality; leaning towards above average. This was shot in 2007 and was far from Skow's best but given the nature of the showcase effort, Briana's fans should appreciate it, the company logo watermarking the lower right hand corner. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English (in 256 Kbps with a 48 kHz sampling rate) offering with the vocals sounding flat and the music pretty decent. For some reason, the levels were about the same as usual but aside from the added background noise, the dynamic range was average and the separation of the vocal track nonexistent.

Body of Review: B. Skow directs for Vivid Entertainment and has done so for a few years now. While he may engage in side projects for friends at times, he has displayed a lot of loyalty for his employer in terms of giving them the best porn they have released in years, if not the best they have ever released. His latest release was actually shot a few years back as a showcase for Briana Banks called Briana Extreme, the starlet appearing in the Xcritic forums to solicit ideas for the scenes she would use. While some of that always appeared to be marketing hype, there was a lot of fun thinking said porn performer might actually be listening, a few phone calls (and follow up at the next convention proving she was indeed responsible for the messages). Briana then shot five scenes before leaving the company for the supposedly greener pastures of owning her own company, one movie released before it disappeared. So, what we have here is reportedly the last scenes shot by Briana Banks before she left porn yet again. There is no way to verify the truth in this idea unless she starts shooting scenes again but her fans should truly enjoy the action given that she is in every scene. Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

I would have liked the fantasies to be more tailored to things less frequently seen in porn scenes, a direction shown by numerous web performers from what I've seen, but I can't argue that the description was all that "off" and I liked seeing Briana again with people new to her. In short then, Briana Extreme was not particularly extreme in the sense that the performer had long been able to handle gonzo sex with a flair reserved for a limited number of her peers but it was another step on the wild side for Vivid, allowing Skow to expand on the length of the tease in most cases.
