Audio/Video Quality: Mike John's All-Star Overdose was presented in a mixed quality 1.33:1 ratio full frame and letterboxed widescreen as shot by director Mike John for Jules Jordan Video presented in the MPEG-2 format so common to standard definition titles (with 480p resolution; though an attempt to use letterboxed widescreen was also apparent on some scenes). The lighting was good, limiting the grain and other visual flaws but the scenes for this compilation were shot over a wide range of time so their quality varied more than a little bit. There were no major compression artifacts (even with the bitrate hovering in the 3.2 Mbps range most of the time I paid any attention) and the fleshtones were more accurate than several of Mike's recent efforts, helping make it stand out in certain ways for me. As expected, the scenes were shot in the point of view method, allowing the viewer to fantasize that he was the one in the driver's seat, this being one of Mike's biggest selling points over the years. The 2.0 Dolby Digital English audio (in 192 Kbps with a 48 kHz sampling rate) was a bit more basic with no separation or major dynamic range but I could always hear what was said and the music didn't interfere with my viewing pleasure.

Body of Review: Mike John currently releases his movies at Jules Jordan Video having sued his former employer years ago to gain access to his library of well regarded fuck flicks. That is why it is no surprise that he is starting to release compilations like Mike John's All-Star Overdose: Special Edition, a double disc set containing over seven hours of his best scenes involving some of the most popular ladies in porn. For me, this represented a chance to catch up on some of the stuff Red Light never sent in for review (or were too cheap to send a final version of) and seeing names like Teagan Presley, Gianna, Annette Schwarz, and several others I've found most involving was the icing on the cake. Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

In short, Mike John's All-Star Overdose: Special Edition proved that not all compilations are created equally well, this one kicking to the curb some of the more prolific compilation companies by offering up a true bonanza of boning for a reasonable rate.
