Extras: The three disc package indicated this would be one of the "big" company movies of the year, the best extra for most people willing to buy it being a copy of the original "Rawhide" flick shot back in 2003 (lasting 159:57 minutes). It wasn't leather-bound like the original and there was only the director's commentary as an extra but at least it wasn't mastered in the "HD-DVD" format as the disc indicated because that dead format would be pretty tough to sell. Suffice it to say that I appreciate this type of extra a lot more than generic scenes since it gives real value for those supporting the industry. Okay, the second disc was full of material related to the actual release itself in a more direct manner, starting off with a 32:50 minute long Behind the Scenes feature. It showed some of the cunning stunts and well as all of the stunning...ladies, special effects, and lots of interview material. It made Bree look better than ever, Kayden look talented, and proved the director earned his pay, also providing some sexually explicit material. There was then a set of interviews lasting 24:02 minutes, 9:58 minutes of silly bloopers, a great set of solo masturbation scenes by the cast of ladies lasting a total of 62:16 minutes, a special effects feature lasting 4:54 minutes, a lengthy photogallery, trailers, including the Rawhide II You Tube trailer, some spam, and a bonus scene lasting 18:20 minutes between Bree Olson and Evan Stone from "Sunshine Highway" (described below). There was also a full length Director's Commentary on the movie, that being the only extra on the first disc aside from some trailers, Andre joined by Tommy Gunn and Marcus London in what amounted to some often really funny material.

Audio/Video Quality: Rawhide II: Dirty Deeds was presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen color as shot by director Andre Madness for Adam & Eve to be released in this MPEG-2, 480p resolution offering. The director had a lot of technical assistance (Nic Andrews and Ralph Parfait) on this big budget flick so it looked crisper and cleaner than most of what he has made in the past, the crew all tending their respective jobs reasonably well on the dramatic feature, emphasizing the looks of the ladies (even if the sex was often too short for my tastes). The occasional soft focus did not bother me too much even if the video bitrate hovered around 4.1 Mbps and could have been higher. Some additional care was given to make this one shine on several levels too, the skin tones looking fine and the settings a big step up from the director's vignette material. The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English stereo, the 192 Kbps audio bitrate and 48 kHz sampling rate generic as could be. The moody background music in most portions of the movie was well done even if the vocals seemed cookie cutter basic with no separation (the dynamic range minimal). Still, I truly appreciated the music here as it elevated the production as a whole.

Body of Review: Andre Madness is a director at Adam & Eve best known for his numerous small scale features, his attempts at telling stories sometimes quite amusing. While his track record is not exactly the greatest, his recent release of Rawhide II: Dirty Deeds could become a turning point, admittedly belated, in his career. Unlike the original porn flick, this is set in contemporary times and stars Bree Olson as a bad land developer as well as Kayden Kross as a victim. I know some people will laugh at the karmic implications of this plot but frankly, the movie looked a LOT better than most features I've seen of late from the company, perhaps owing more than a little to the participation of Nic Andrews on the crew. That said, the three disc set included a copy of the original movie as well as a decent selection of extras on a second disc, the lengthy movie containing sexual adventures best suited for couples in terms of length and vanilla sex acts but it was a fun movie to enjoy with a partner all the same. Like always, I'll be the reviewer unwilling to spoil the plotted points but it wasn't bad even if there were some twists that didn't make much sense. The back cover described the movie like this: "Rawhide II is a classic tale of sex, power, and greed! A covetous lady land developer is trying to take the ranch from our heroine and the mysterious drifter... Tempers flare, hearts are broken and the dust doesn't settle... as bodies write in a passionate display of Dirty Deeds..." Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Summary: Rawhide II: Dirty Deeds by director Andre Madness for Adam & Eve was quite a cut above the usual couples fare you will find in the industry, especially these days, so I rated it as Highly Recommended. The sexual action was not designed for the raincoater crowd so much as couples or people that don't watch a lot of porn, the pairings often very well done thanks to the manner they were shot. Bree shined as the bad girl and Kayden came across as the headstrong land owner trying to keep her ranch quite well, the rough edges of the story rarely getting in the way of the entertainment value. In short, I smell some potential awards coming out of Rawhide II: Dirty Deeds much like I did with the company's The 8th Day even if it wasn't as large a scale effort as that one, the Nic Andrews touch evident all over the production. Well Done!
