Synopsis

 Fly Girls is a very nicely crafted comedy of errors that is, in my opinion, the first must-see adult movie of 2010. It features a superb cast of female and male porn stars who, in addition to fucking like the superstars they are, do a very nice job of acting, too. The movie has a cute--yet somewhat believable--plot, first-class production values, and scorching-hot sex that unfolds in six scenes: two boy/girl, one boy/boy/girl, two boy/girl/girl, and one reverse gangbang (one guy with three girls).

Fly Girls is a porn movie about a porn director making an unauthorized reality porn movie on a red-eye jumbo-jet flight (sort of a porn movie within a porn movie!). Manuel Ferrara, the director, and his assistant (Sasha Grey), make arrangements with a real pilot to install numerous cameras aboard the aircraft and then sneak aboard a group of sex-charged porn stars (Jesse Jane, Riley Steele, Katsuni, and Jenna Haze) posing as flight attendants and as well as a goofy co-pilot, played by Evan Stone (no male porn star is funnier). The plan is to have the "fake" flight attendants and co-pilot mingle with the passengers and record everything using the hidden cameras.

Things begin to go awry when Homeland Security Chief Ben English hears of the plan. He detains the co-conspiring co-pilot, interrogates him, and then sends a security detail to the plane to arrest the phony crew. Paradoxically, by the time the security officers arrive at the boarding plane, all the phony crew members are aboard. So, they arrest the real flight attendants instead. In addition, they arrest and detain director Manuel Ferrara and his side-kick Sasha Grey, too.

Aboard the aircraft, Captain Frank Bukkwyd (in a well-played non-sex role) readily accepts "co-pilot" Evan Stone into the cockpit. Although Frank senses that Evan is a little "off," he writes Evan's behavior off to youthful clumsiness. Meanwhile, in the cabin, the phony "stewardesses" perform the tasks that flight attendants normally do before a flight. The girls do such a "professional" job--at least prior to takeoff--that the only way you can really tell they're not "professionals" is by their drop-dead-sexy outfits.

In most airplane spoof movies, a gallant passenger lands the plane with help from the air traffic controller. So, Jesse gets on the radio and tries to raise the tower. Unfortunately, the air traffic controller has stepped outside to have a smoke. Why not? It's the middle of the night and there's no traffic nearby. Meanwhile, the janitor (Marco Banderas) cleans up. So, he's the only one who hears Jesse's cry for help. Miraculously, Marco is able to "talk" the plane down...even though he doesn't speak much English! (Just a tad implausible, don't you think?)

Of course, when the plane is on the ground and everybody is safe, erstwhile pilot Jesse Jane--and her sidekick Riley Steele simply must show their gratitude to janitor Marco Banderas. Fly Girls will inevitably be compared to previously-released Flight Attendants. That's like comparing an apple to a kumquat. They are both fruit, but they're entirely different. Fly Girls is a comedy of errors. It's also reminiscent of the "show within a show" films of the 1950's in which the cast got together to put on a show to solve some sort of problem. On the other hand, Flight Attendants is a slapstick parody. Both movies should be on your must-have list.

Although the quantity of these extras is a bit below what you'd expect on a big release like Fly Girls, the quality of the BTS is very good. So, the extras earn an average three-point rating.

Final Thoughts

The best things about Fly Girls include:

• the sex! Out of six scenes, three score more than five stars! That's rare in a full-blown feature like this is.
• the cast! Five of the female cast members are among my Must-See Girls winners (Jesse Jane, Katsuni, Jenna Haze, Sasha Grey, Nikki Benz). The only thing that would have made this movie's cast even better would be the presence of Digital Playgrounds on-hiatus stars Stoya and Gabriella Fox.
• the non-Must-See-Girls. I was tremendously pleased by the performances of Digital Playgrounds' new girls: Raven Alexis and Janie Summers. And, Riley Steele is becoming quite a superstar, too. I was also damned impressed by Diamond Foxxx.
• the acting! The cast does a very nice job delivering their lines--like mainstream actors and actresses.
• the plot. Although implausible, the story is cute, entertaining, and funny.
• the production values. Realistic locations and sets, hot and sexy wardrobe, perfect make-up, and effective soundtracks are all part-and-parcel of the Fly Girls experience.
• the emphasis on group sex. Although I'm not much of a boy/boy/girl fan, I sure as hell enjoy boy/girl/girl scenes as well as reverse gangbangs. Fly Girls has 'em!

Fly Girls could have been better if:

• the lighting had been more flattering to the girls' bodies. I know that the movie is set at night during a redeye flight, but I can't accept the fact that the video appears too greenish-blue. If you compare the color of the girls' skin in the still photos I've included with this review with the on-screen video, you can see the difference. In the still photos, the girls' flesh tones are pink and healthy-looking. In the movie itself, the girls' skin is too cold. This is caused by the color balance setting on the camera...in the case of the still photos, the color balance was set normally whereas in the case of the video, the white balance was set to a too-high Kelvin number. The result is reminiscent of old fashioned daylight color film that was exposed indoors under fluorescent lighting...the overall image is too green. People are not supposed to be green. I imagine director Robby D., who is extremely talented and whom I respect greatly, chose the color balance setting on purpose. He's done this in previous movies, too. That's his choice as director. But, I still respectfully disagree with him. We have an artistic disagreement.
• there had been a tad more light overall. Again, I know the movie was set at night. But, the trick is to make it appear dark yet let us see all the action we want to see.
• Katsuni had done anal. Even better, she should have done a DP with the two guys in her scene

Things I didn't like about Fly Girls include:

• the lack of cunnilingus in Scene One. Evan never ate out Janie's pussy during the scene. Such neglect is selfish and deplorable.
• the lack of a DP in Scene Two. Truth be told, I'm not a fan of boy/boy/girl threesomes. I'd never want to share a girl with another guy...but, I always enjoy having a second girl. So, I'm sexist.
