Audio/Video Quality: Nikki's House was presented in the same 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color it was shot in by director B. Skow for Vivid using the standard definition MPEG-2 codec in 480 resolution. For those unfamiliar with his background, suffice it to say that his experience outside of porn is superior to many inside the industry and it shows up in his movies, including this one as shot in 1080i/60 high definition late last year, though presented in the SD format (for now). The lighting was well handled and this added to the pleasure of watching the gals in play as the lengthy scenes gave them enough freedom to explore their sexuality. The composition of the camera angles and lighting were almost always optimal this time, Skow seeing fit to try and enhance the look of the ladies at every turn as possible, R. Rolande editing the production with some care. The fleshtones were accurate too and the DVD mastering was well done (the bitrate hovering around 3.5 Mbps), making it a mixed bag in terms of visual quality; leaning towards above average though the company watermark will be bothersome to many out there. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English (in 256 Kbps with a 48 kHz sampling rate) offering with the vocals sounding flat and the music pretty decent. The aural qualities of the movie appeared to offer some separation and increased dynamic range, the vocals easily heard and mixed in with the ambient noises as well as music.

Skow has been hailed by some critics as a changing of the guard for long time employer Vivid, essentially bringing his gonzo sensibilities to the company in such a way that it gets the best of both worlds. While a few haters out there look for any perceived faults in his flicks to discredit his works, the bottom line is that he offers movies with tremendous levels of fuck for the buck enhanced by his eye for quality, his showcase efforts with contract performers as well received as his "Brand New Faces" series that always manages to thrill those looking for something truly new. His latest movie coming my way is Nikki's House, yet another feature starring mega-hotty Nikki Jayne as she attempts to fix a problem she caused by a bit of carelessness. In the interim, she and her friends have some heated sex, display chemistry for one another, and eventually make things right in a way that only Nikki could get away with, a comedic effort unrelated to the sitcum parodies driving so much of the market these days. The back cover described the movie like this: "Nikki lands a job house-sitting for Kristina Rose. The one rule is she has to make sure Kristina's expensive vase is not touched. Within the first five minutes of house-sitting, Nikki breaks it masturbating. When she finds out it'll take $8000 to replace it, she hatches a scheme to raise the cash...subletting the house, pussy included! B. Skow touch to make it all work just right, you'd be hard pressed to find a better recent title than Nikki's House for your hand to gland needs. Give this one a look and see why Nikki is so popular and Skow is the one being credited with reviving Vivid into a powerhouse once more.
