The press release for this one pronounced it being his first high definition release for the company and that initially made me cringe a bit given the manner so many directors fell short during their first attempts at providing such a look for their movies but Jonni has long been in a class by himself in that regard, the production enhancing his usual strengths and adding to them instead. The lighting was solid and the composition of the scenes exceptional, the editing by talented Eddie Powell adding to the presentation too. The fleshtones were generally accurate and the style Jonni usually offers up was cut back ever so slightly to incorporate the HD look of his subjects, the level of detail boosted by the 4,8 Mbps video bitrate I saw when spot checking the MPEG-2 encoded production. The audio was presented in a standard 2.0 Dolby Digital English using a 48 kHz sampling rate and 192 Kbps aural bitrate, the music heavy audio mixed into the vocals fairly well but not as pleasing for me as the visual elements were handled. Still, as music is Jonni's first and foremost love, if you enjoy the thumping bass he enjoys so much, this will be off the charts for you to appreciate.

In short then, Angels of Debauchery 8 was a step up for the director as he tried to keep his strengths in balance with the market demand for the best quality visuals, the results better than most of his peers having worked with the format for some time now so give it a look to see what the director is up to these days.
