Audio/Video Quality: Live Gonzo was presented in the anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 widescreen color the movie was shot in by director Raul Cristian for Evil Angel in the MPEG-2 codec used for standard definition releases (including 480 resolution). There was a lot of strong lighting that helped maximize the quality of the picture, the camera still showing a lot of extra movement thanks to Raul's usual jumpy method of catching the action. The lack of editing (these were live shows, remember) did not help in this endeavor either with a movie as long as this one needing extra care to make sure that there is enough tease but also heated sexual antics, my initial impression being that there was less tease footage than usual which admittedly hurt the rating. The bitrate was decent so there were few obvious compression artifacts, the aliasing minimal and given the sheer amount of quality footage on display, most fans will be quite happy; Raul allowing the ladies to provide some heated raw energy even if his attempts to capture it were mixed. The bitrate hovered all over the place this time, higher than usual with most of the movie in the 5.3 Mbps range, but varying across the board depending on the scene. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English (at 192 Kbps with a 48 kHz sampling rate) offering that really didn't use any separation in terms of the vocals (there was some potential to do so here too). The dynamic range was also kind of generic, an area that seemed slightly better than previous efforts and an area that Raul could easily improve to make best use of the great many home theaters in the hands of porn fans everywhere.

Body of Review: Raul Cristian has been a wild card director for a few companies I am fond of, his Cruel Media productions sometimes capturing great trysts full of raw energy while dropping the ball big time on occasion. His latest title sent to me for review is a collection of scenes he originally shot for the internet called Live Gonzo, all four of them offering some major performers engaging in heated lesbian action in part guided by fans that were logged on and watching as they were shot. This provided a fresh approach to the scenes as far as I was concerned, especially seeing a few names typically associated as contract performers allowed to break loose of their usual constraints. The company website described the movie like this: "Director Raul Cristian and his hot bodied, dirty minded sidekick Clara G. have been hosting live interactive Webcasts. Online fans can watch these nasty XXX exhibitions as they happen and submit their comments and requests via computer. On the double-disc Live Gonzo, Raul has assembled four of his nastiest recent all-girl events so DVD and VOD fans can enjoy this provocative content. In the first scene, American beauty Chayse Evans and European star Sophi Santi frolic with huge toys and a ponytail butt plug. Glamorous Clara G. leads Tori Lane and Angelina Valentine through a wild scene rife with girl squirting, and don't ask where a golf ball gets lost. Brooke Haven and Nika Noir get very intimate with an assemblage of huge toys. Mason Moore and Sunny Leone look like sisters and play like sex kittens with incorrigible Clara guiding the action." Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Sophia Santi, the heavily tattooed brunette seen featured on the left side of the front cover, was up first with Chayse Evans, the gal on the right side of the cover. The scene was shot on 11/16/2009 and the gals paraded around in skimpy outfits, playing with each other as fans watched them over the internet broadcast that was set up. The gals played to the crowd much like they would a micromanaging director, enjoying themselves but making sure that camera carrying Clara (how's that for a name to stick?) could capture all their moves. As expected, the action centered on a lot of oral and toys, both ladies exceptionally talented at pleasing another woman, occasionally stopping in order to see what the viewers were texting towards them as an ego boost. The general dynamic was used throughout the other three scenes too, Sophia a prime catch for the webcast, the limited rough stuff (spanking, choking, slaps) not nearly as dark as some of Raul's personally shot material. There was some minimal anal with taste testing too but the entire scene struck me as a couple of female friendly ladies enjoying each other while displaying substantial energy and chemistry.

Scene Two: Tory Lane, Angelina Valentine, and Clara G. were up next and immediately going into it, I had the impression that the ladies were not going to be content with as limited a selection of acts as the previous scene had provided. It was shot on 8/21/2009 and a tribute to Playboy TV, a sponsor perhaps, was made before the rules were established that viewers could provide input as to what would take place. The ladies were dressed up in fetish attire, David Perry assisting in the production as the ladies played around with large dildos. Tory seemed ready to take the largest toy up her ass but all three of them engaged in lesbian action, eating each other out and doing circus act sex (such as pool table balls shoved up their asses). The camera bounced around when the ladies walked around the living room, each lady seemingly willing to do whatever was suggested though the emphasis was clearly on oral and toy penetration. There was also foot fetish action and while Angelina was not as depraved as her two counterparts, Clara surprisingly held her own against Tory even before the grand finale solo session where they all did themselves in a circle.

Scene Three: Brooke Haven, a busty blond bombshell with a decent booty, was up next as the first scene of the second disc along with Nika Noir, a frisky foreigner with long hair. The scene was shot before a live internet audience on 10/10/2009, the ladies wearing revealing outfits that soon came off to allow them greater lesbian access to each other. Brooke seemed less comfortable with viewers like "Rodney" at first but soon embraced the dynamic of the matchup, some men walking around in the background of the living room as the show went on. The gals learned to interact with their fans more and more frequently, stripping and doing all sorts of lesbian acts like the generic kissing, licking, and swatting with a lot of camera action directed at their asses. Some toys were deployed early, like the breast pump, while others came later, like the dildos, but each gal served as the best toy for the other, the pleasing experience lacking some of the all out chemistry and energy of the first two scenes. I was surprised at how clear the scene looked too, impromptu moments like the little dog walking into the room during the scene striking me as unexpectedly amusing.

Scene Four: Sunny Leone, the biggest "name" of the production in terms of star power, was up next along with busty internet guru Mason Moore, and blond hotty Clara G. were up last in a scene the clapboard claimed was shot on 9/3/2009 (the trailer credits suggested 9/9/09). Sunny is no stranger to internet fan interaction any more than Mason is, both of them kissing while sitting in front of the keyboard to see who was commenting on what they were doing. The ladies wore bikini stripper type of outfits, Sunny talking a good game but Mason showing the fans what they asked for earlier, soon playing with Sunny's ample tits. Clara wore a PVC corset as she led them crawling into the next room, Raul capturing the way their curvy asses swayed quite well. This led them to a large selection of sex toys to pick from, the director trying to guide them to specific ones for the penetration that balanced out the extensive oral they engaged in. The gals even got dripping wet too, Clara leaving a puddle all over the floor from diddling herself with a dildo, the scene lit less properly than the others at times.

Summary: Live Gonzo by directors Raul Cristian & Clara G. for Evil Angel was a lot better than I thought it would be but it relied too heavily on specific performers so I rated it as Recommended. The levels of lesbian fuck for the buck were substantial but I wondered if some editing might have helped the pacing at times, the original scenes still available online for those wanting the full experience. In short then, there were few true sexual surprises with Live Gonzo and fans of the ladies might as well consider getting this double disc set as a "must have" or at least joining the company website to see even more, the overall balance of the scenes perhaps weaker than the usual movies that are so heavily edited but the rhythm still well within the norm.
