Extras: The only real extras were the photogallery and four trailers, some spam and "positions menu" material included for those that care. In most releases, the lack of a BTS or better extras would hurt but Skow decided that providing more sexual material showcasing the ladies would be preferred by straight men watching the series, refusing to cater to zipper heads demanding even more (very few titles approach as much quality fuck for the buck, none of them offering a contract to refund money if a scene isn't the first so I'll take a ~4 hour showing over a couple of minutes of makeup being put on as a sign the company listens to people).

Audio/Video Quality: Brand New Faces 25 was presented in the same 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color it was shot in by director B. Skow for Vivid using the standard definition MPEG-2 codec in 480 resolution. For those unfamiliar with his background, suffice it to say that his experience outside of porn is superior to many inside the industry and it shows up in his movies, including this one as shot in 1080i/60 high definition two years ago, though presented in the SD format. The lighting was well handled and this added to the pleasure of watching the gals in play as the lengthy scenes gave them enough freedom to explore their sexuality. The composition of the camera angles and lighting were almost always optimal, Skow seeing fit to try and enhance the look of the ladies at every turn as possible, the director editing the raw footage in a hands-off manner (which worked for me). The fleshtones were accurate too and the DVD mastering was well done (the bitrate hovering around 3.3 Mbps), making it a mixed bag in terms of visual quality; leaning towards above average though the company watermark will be bothersome to many out there. The up side of things is that there was so much footage on the dual layer disc, only the dorkiest of losers would fuss about the minimal tradeoffs made to achieve the ~4 hours of sex versus the best possible picture. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English (in 256 Kbps with a 48 kHz sampling rate) offering with the vocals sounding flat and the music pretty decent. The aural qualities of the movie appeared to offer some separation and increased dynamic range, the vocals easily heard and mixed in with the ambient noises.

Body of Review: B. Skow has led the revitalization of Vivid with his directorial efforts such as Brand New Faces 25. This time, the selection of five scenes focused on regular gals that were new to boning on camera, each having a different background, a few even fairly new to cock altogether. As expected, the lengthy showing showcased the ladies in such a manner that allowed them to explore an adult career with established meat puppets, most of them several steps above the mopes you tend to find initiating newcomers at other companies. In short then, Brand New Faces 25 was another non-specialty volume for fans to enjoy, this time focusing on older scenes but showcasing some very appealing young ladies, even if none of them made it "big" in terms of a porn career.
