Audio/Video Quality: Big Ass Crackers was shot in the usual anamorphic widescreen 1.78:1 ratio offering as presented by director John Leslie for Evil Angel. The MPEG-2 encoded flick had a video bitrate hovering around the 3.2 Mbps area when I checked, the grain and other visual elements on the weak side at times but not consistently so as in many past efforts, the composition of the camera work enhancing the looks of the ladies in almost all cases. Like most directors, John provides his own set of distinctive quirks to the technical side of things, this time minimizing some of the panning and bumpy movement while making sure that not all the shots were done in extreme close up. The 2.0 Dolby Digital English audio track (in 192 Kbps) was as basic as gonzo porn came be, with limited talking going on outside of John's own directions in the background. The cast could be heard moaning & groaning but this was definitely a limited selection based on audio quality.

Body of Review: John Leslie has long been one of the more artistic directors distributed by Evil Angel, preferring to let his casts loose and work within certain parameters rather than micromanage them position by position. The resulting scenes can be hit or miss but at least they do not typically look like they were formula driven as is so often the case in the industry. His latest flick to make it my way is Big Ass Crackers, the four lengthy scenes focusing on providing ample amounts of tease centering on the ladies asses more than anything else. In terms of what I expected out of the movie, I knew that using such award winning rumps as those on Alexis Texas, Monica Santhiago, and Gracie Glam, could not hurt the strokability and replay value but John is a trickster when it comes to looking past industry conventions even if it lowers the impact of his movies for the majority of consumers interested in what he makes. Such is the double edged sword of shooting what pleases the director over what he thinks the audience wants, John typically coming out ahead of the pack most times.

The company website described the movie like this: "For Big Ass Crackers, director John Leslie has assembled a stellar cast of lovelies both lustable and lustful. It was far from perfect but the guy still has the acumen to know what works most of the time and his casting of the ladies was as inspired as usual here. Alexis Texas, Nikki Sexx, and Monica Santhiago were the best of the bunch this time but even the technical deficiencies did not hamper the stroke value or replay much. In short, Big Ass Crackers was another example of why John Leslie is still employed in the jizz biz, the combination of technical expertise and capacity for showcasing the ladies a notch above many of his peers in the industry.
