Extras: The second disc had the wealth of extras expected of the double disc set, beginning with a trio of unrelated bonus scenes including one between Eva Angelina and April O'Neil from "Busty Babysitters", Monique Alexander & Mark Wood from Not Really The Dukes of Hazzard, and Jenny Hendrix with Sascha from In Thru the Back Door #4. Each of these was in an unedited form and well done, their sole relation to the production being the ladies having scenes in both. There was then a 39:47 minute long Behind the Scenes feature to enjoy, the cast and crew making the movie with all sorts of issues, coming together nicely in the end product. Then came a 25:18 minute long "Meet the Girls of "Taxi" featurettes, starting off, oddly enough with Ron Jeremy (intermittently presented throughout the feature). There was then a 14:15 minute long "Latka's Gag Garage" featurettes was shown, essentially a collection of cast anecdotes and clips of them around the set, a 17:07 minute initial script reading by most of the cast (Ron Jeremy wasn't present initially but came in soon enough), two photogalleries (one general one and the other for the BTS), and three trailers (Not Really The Dukes of Hazzard, Untapped Assets #2, and Teen Motherfuckers). There was also a slip case and a true double sided DVD cover, the first disc offering some spam and a 29:45 minute long version of the movie without sex using the "Flick @ Night" approach they used on "Dukes".

Audio/Video Quality: Taxi A Hardcore Parody was presented in a colorful 1.78:1 ratio, anamorphic widescreen, offering as shot by director Anton Slayer for Vouyer Media using the 480p resolution and MPEG-2 codec typical of standard definition projects (for the record, it was shot in 1080i). The initial reaction I had was to appreciate how much more time Vouyer Media spent on making this one look at least something like the original show compared to some of Anton's earlier works. The pornified sets were again better than average for this type of show, the lower budgets and time constrictions not as damaging to a sitcum styled parody. The editing wasn't as strong as the best genre efforts but Jonny Grownwood and assistant director Nate Liquer joined Anton to transform the raw footage into a decent effort. The standard definition version of the flick had a few compression artifacts, only a bit of noise & edge enhancement, and proper lighting to assist in making the movie look more like the original, the script a reasonably pornified version of the show. In short, in terms of the visual esthetics, this title was another parody done reasonably right, providing various double entendres but not goofing on the show as I thought it would, the company watermark the biggest pain for me personally. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English with a 256 Kbps audio bitrate and 48 kHz sampling rate, the score close enough to provide an aural experience in line with the low budget original series. The vocals were clear and crisp here, showing an attempt to mimic the original show so many people enjoyed years ago, the opening theme song close enough to the tune the original offers up, my biggest complaint being some of the dialogue sounded dubbed.

Body of Review: Anton Slayer has not been one of the major "go to" people of porn parodies since tackling such projects a few years back but if his work at Vouyer Media is any indication, when given sufficient resources and time, he proves to be as capable as folks like Axel Braun and Lee Roy Myers. His latest sitcum parody is called Taxi A Hardcore Parody, a classic comedy television ensemble show about taxicab drivers and their workplace. What worked so well for the show was the writing and ability of each member of the cast to contribute, later seasons relying heavily on Andy Kaufman's goofball mechanic (to the chagrin of the others if the press is to be believed). In short, like a handful of other projects in this genre, the likelihood that there was so much to fuck up and so limited abilities to "do it right" made me wonder just how well Anton would pull this off, especially given that Wicked Pictures contract performer Kirsten Price was the advertised female lead of the show as Elaine, a role I would have placed Kylie Ireland in regardless of the company's affiliation with Wicked.

Summary: Taxi A Hardcore Parody by director Anton Slayer for Vouyer Media had a lot of little nods to the original show that I liked, be it from Ron's portrayal of Louie, Frady as Jim, or even Anthony as Tony but it lacked some consistency on the dialogue portions, the show admittedly not one of the easier ones to "get right". Still, the sex was generally strokable with sufficient replay value to merit a rating of Recommended, the parody showing Anton climbing up the ladder of recognition much like some of his peers have in recent years. In short, the double disc set for Taxi A Hardcore Parody was fun, well worth checking out, and full of potential for an even better sequel should someone get ambitious, only one scene using a condom and the extras all worth checking out.
