Extras: The first extra was a choking safety demonstration by Penny Flame from an earlier company release. It lasted 4:46 minutes and was informative, especially to those that rant like lunatics about choking. There was then a similar production lasting 5:46 minutes about safer sex techniques. The best extra was the 22:29 minute long Behind the Scenes feature, various clips of the performers included of bloopers and practicing of their lines. Then came the trailers, the photogallery, and the spam indicative of all company releases.

Audio/Video Quality: Tristan Taormino's Rough Sex 2 was presented in a crisp anamorphically enhanced widescreen color with an aspect ratio of 1.78:1 as shot by director Tristan Taormino for Vivid under her Smart Ass Productions using the MPEG-2 codec and providing a 480i resolution for the standard definition production. The lighting varied in each scene, attempts appearing to be made to balance some degree of spontaneity with modest technical concerns. There were five cameramen listed this time (Ralph Parfait, Fliktor, Hank Hoffman, Eli Cross, and Jeff McCain) and some scenes definitely looked better made than others in that regard, the editing also too aggressive in certain scenes but overall handling the material pretty well. There was some grain but nothing much and the framing of the scenes in the show varied too much to state anything generic to the entire production, the video bitrate typically hovering in the 2.9 Mbps area when checked. For the record, there was a company watermark during the movie in the lower right hand corner. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English using the standard 256 Kbps format and 48 kHz sampling rate as expected. The sections of the show had clear vocals and some light, generic music though little separation and the dynamic range was not very varied.

Body of Review: Tristan Taormino is a world renowned "sexpert" that has proven a reliable source for all sorts of mainstream media even before her movies were distributed by Vivid. Having enjoyed a number of her past educational line, my biggest complaints were always that they were too short and/or too clinical at times, making their replay value questionable for a large portion of the porn loving population. These issues have largely been addressed with her latest release of Tristan Taormino's Rough Sex 2, the movie lasting almost three and a half hours as it showcased six scenarios fans of role playing, BDSM, and rough sex will almost certainly appreciate as a real attempt to portray the fetishes as viable activities to be enjoyed. Even the cover advertised the movie as having "Twice the fetish..." and for my part, the variety made for an interesting twist on the instructional/educational series that might be expanded with future volumes. This time, there was a larger cast and wider array of sexual acts covered, from food fetish to ponygirl, to toys, to gangbangs; amounting to almost something for every taste in the book. Even as a stroke flick, once the introductions were over for each scene, they played out like porn people can appreciate that don't want a "message", making it what some might call the best of both worlds. The back of the box described the movie like this: "They create the scenes. They choose their partners. They control what happens. Mistress Claire takes her pet April on an unforgettable ride. Bobbi tastes total submission at the back of her throat. Ponygirl Madison gets trained. Chayse and Mark double team slave ... more Adrianna. Scene One: Cake: Madison Young, the redhead featured on the center of the front cover, was up first as the only gal in more than one scene. This time, she paired off with lean brunette Dylan Ryan in a food fetish-centric scene, using BDSM acts to excite both ladies in the lesbian scene. There were a lot of fetishes touched upon here too, some flogging and foot fetish, role playing, and spanking on top of the food material. The ladies were into it and got off, their personal chemistry undeniable as they showcased Madison's oral fixation and other fantasies. There was also a decent degree of toy play here, the kitchen setting perfectly suited to the subject matter.

This was the first time Chayse worked with either partner, helping to enhance the electricity of the tryst on all sorts of levels beyond the BDSM, oral, or vaginal screwing in so many positions. With face sitting, clothespins, Adrianna tied down on the purple pool table, and a wand vibrator used liberally, it was a diverse scene, the active riding by the ladies enough to make it something special due in no small part to the passion and chemistry shared. Summary: Tristan Taormino's Rough Sex 2 by director Tristan Taormino for Vivid was a departure in several ways from previous company efforts in the educational line, the genuine heat and passion generated assisted by the chemistry the performers had for each other so I rated the lengthy bout of kinky boning as Highly Recommended. I'd like to see more kink explored this way as an introductory primer if nothing else, the only point of contention being that more attention be paid to the technical aspects if at all possible. In short, Tristan Taormino's Rough Sex 2 reestablished the popular author as a force to be reckoned with in porn, her ability to let scenes play out as needed by the participants instead of a predetermined script greatly assisting in making the movie strokable and giving it better replay value.
