Audio/Video Quality: Battle of the Asses 3 was presented in a decent 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color as released by director Mason for Elegant Angel using the standard definition MPEG-2 codec with 480 resolution. The camera work was again solid with plentiful lighting to eliminate grain, video noise and shadows so the picture appeared to be in line with her other work to date. Mason has made or assisted on a number of titles over the years, the technical matters taking back seat to the raw energy of the sex, but her skill levels have definitely been improving with the camera too, showing she pays attention for those that care (in fact, most of her current works look almost identical to those of Nutsack). I saw no compression artifacts though there was about 4.6 Mbps video bitrate but the composition of the camera angles strongly favored the ladies and their well lit bodies. The compositions of the shots helped maximize the potential of the ladies too, rarely relying on extreme close ups all the time as some seem destined to do and the editing by Team Royson looking okay in most cases (though too abrupt at times). The 2.0 Dolby Digital English track was pretty basic with little separation or dynamic range yet I could hear the cast well enough in most cases. For those keeping track, the audio was offered in a 256 Kbps offering with a 48 kHz sampling rate, the grunts and groans heard well enough but the music by Mybeatshop elevating the proceedings nicely.

Body of Review: Mason is one of the few remaining female directors able to “get it right” these days when it comes to making strokable, hardcore porn, her many titles at Elegant Angel serving as notice to the wannabe types that direct in name only. Her latest title is an ensemble effort called Battle of the Asses 3, about 2.5 hours of five lengthy scenes where an assortment of women with shapely asses provide some highly strokable material. I would have appreciated more anal and more tease footage but in all, this was another fine display of cunning stunts to talk about, Mason letting them flow rather than micromanage their acts as some of her peers at more “family friendly” companies do.
