Extras: On the first disc, the main extra was the 37:09 minute version of the movie (that lacked sex but not nudity). The main extras on the second disc were the four informative Behind the Scenes features by Nick Ventura, Jeff Mullen, & Scott David. They lasted 21:31 (starting off with Gary Lee giving a rousing rendition of the theme song that will offend anyone too sensitive to take a joke, the director mentioning the lack of “Not” in the title, and plenty of interviews), 21:43 minutes (more of the same from a different day), 18:35 minutes (again, more), and the fourth clocked in at 11:18 minutes. Each had more sex, interviews, text tidbits on the production, photoshoots, and an assortment of comments as well as green screen material (the last capping it off with the cast paying tribute to the director for his belated birthday).

There was then a series of interviews with most of the cast (Haley, Kagney, Gary, Otto, Dana, James, and Gary in a second interview) that totaled 65:49 minutes (some of these were really exceptional). Then came a 32:56 minute long director/producer travelogue by Will Ryder and Scott David; the guys touching on many bases regarding making the movie. I also wanted to note that there was a lengthy tribute to Den from CAVR (who passed away this summer) which was a nice touch. Then came a 19:57 minute long Blooper & Outtake Reel (some of them were great, others merely flubbed lines), and a Director highlight reel lasting 4:35 minutes that showed various award show voters some of his extensive body of quality work (quoting Roger and I as well as others). This was followed by two bonus scenes, one lasting 15:19 minutes from Not Married With Children XXX and a 15:16 minute long scene from The A Team XXX(both described below). There were many, many trailers, a FSC anti-piracy commercial, a slide show, and the ability to replay the DVD intro.

Audio/Video Quality: Beverly Hillbillies XXX was presented in anamorphic 1.78:1 widescreen as shot by director Will Ryder for X-Play to be distributed by Adam & Eve. Ryder and his partner Scott David have led the masses in porn parodies for years, garnering scores of accolades and formal awards from all the usual sources as a result. Art Director Scott David once again showed he is “The Man” for getting the sets so right on a tight budget that it puts others to shame. The editing by Mark DaWop was nicely done, especially considering the timelines given that the movie was shot in August. This standard definition version looked good even with a video bitrate hovering around the 5.3 Mbps range (when spot checked), the colors and contrasts appealing throughout the show. The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English using a 48 kHz sampling rate and 192 Kbps audio bitrate, sounding very crisp and clear during the dialogue portions, the music close enough a copy of the original that few will argue with it standing out (the lead song by Easton McCoy a dandy version of the original), thanks in no small part to Jeff Mullen and Rock Hardson and their work). I’d say that the score was as close to the original as Jeff and company dared to go, the little touches still interesting to me compared to the other works on the market that usually dismiss audio as much as possible.

Body of Review: Will Ryder has won so many awards for being best director (from such a wide variety of sources too) or making the best movies in the industry that it is easy to forget how the industry was so focused on generic gonzo titles until he started working his magic. Having teamed up with all sorts of distributors over the years, he now channels the strength of industry leader Adam & Eve in order to release Beverly Hillbillies XXX, a title that has literally been “in the works” for several years. Based on the incredibly popular mainstream television show from the 1960’s, this parody serves as yet another “tribute” parody rather than goofing on it as so many lesser companies tend to do, the lead roles all cast using some of the best actors available. Who could argue with Kagney Linn Karter as Elly Mae, Otto Bauer as Jethro, James Bartholet (in a sex role no less) as Milburn Drysdale, or Dana DeArmond as Jane Hathaway? On top of that, Ryder again scored a major coup by finding two mainstream actor-lookalikes in Hayley Hewes (as Granny) and Gary Lee (as Jed) that were nearly equal to his previous score of Thomas Ward as Bill Cosby to round out the fine cast, the sexual performances by the usual young, vivacious babes being every bit as strokable as anything Ryder has shot in the past. In terms of story, this re-envisioned version was quite entertaining and the package of extras was as good as you will find anywhere else; the double disc set the type that is becoming increasingly rare in the industry.

Even Mr. Drysdale & Miss Jane get in on the filthy good action. Best comedy of the year!” Does this package equate to the best comedy of the year? Will it win major accolades and awards from all the relevant industry sources? As one of the few critics devoted to the task of checking out as much porn as is humanly possible, this is definitely one to watch! Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Kaylee Hilton and Taylor Vixen, a blond and brunette duo with great curves and eager attitudes to satisfy the moneyman (James Bartholet), were up first as they took turns slobbing the knob of the guy previously known strictly for his non-sex work. Scene Three: Annie Cruz, a well known Asian slut with a mouth just as willing as her attitude, was up next with Otto “Jethro” Bauer, the guy taking her off from the previous setting in order to see what kinds of roles to cast her for. Placing her with “Dash Riprock” (Ryan doing a wooden version of the Larry Pennell character from the original show) while Kagney and Giovanni Francesco alluded to going at it on the nearby desk) was a great plan, the way he ate her at great length making her over the top moans more believable. When it was her turn, she devoured his pecker in a manner consistent with her gonzo roots, the active vaginal riding displaying her skills just as well at milking a guys nuts dry of splooge as she took his round of semen into her mouth to savor.

The performers kicked up the heat a notch and the mainstream actors sealed the deal, the excellent extras adding substantially to the entertainment value as well. With quality parodies and comedies becoming as scarce as trustworthy politicians, Beverly Hillbillies XXX delivers on both accounts, proving that the Will Ryder & Scott David duo behind X-Play are far from over against the hordes of pretenders to the throne. The ability to balance strokable sex with an amusing comedic tribute to a beloved mainstream show is something out of reach for most directors in the industry, the proverbial “best of both worlds” we so often hear about but hardy ever come across so check this one out to see what the buzz is all about.
