Extras: All the extras were compiled on the second disc devoted to them, beginning with a short, 7:57 minute long Behind the Scenes feature. This was followed by a 4:15 minute long Blooper Reel, a 22:59 minute long non-explicit version of the movie, four trailers, a photogallery, the usual Vivid spam, and a special offer for those with a smart phone. The discs came in a foldout case shaped like a booklet, some interesting pictures of other pornified heroes included inside.

Audio/Video Quality: Superman Vs. Spider-man XXX was presented in the usual widescreen as shot by director Axel Braun for Vivid. The lighting, editing, and visual effects were very much like other entries in Braun’s super hero parody line, no surprise given his production team was largely comprised of the same folks and most of his cast returned to portray their signature characters. While I am again tempted to use the phrase “this looked great for a porno” regarding the effects in context of their low budget, there is no need to split hairs since by now most people have seen one of Axel’s superhero parodies (at least if you are interested in this one), the quality of the visual elements enough to satisfy all but the lamest of comic book fanboys overly protective of the subject matter (note: there was a company watermark in the lower right hand corner). The non-sex elements did not copy the original over sized comic book this is based on from 1976 on a panel by panel basis but instead went with the overall premise instead, the results mostly satisfying on multiple levels. The aural aspects of the project were handled in stereo with some care for the musical score, the crisp vocals, and perhaps even some ambient noises (this being an area rarely touched in any porno), the only one coming to mind being the dogs barking during Luthor’s announcement.

Body of Review: Axel Braun has been on a tear in recent years, his superhero porn parodies typically winning him much acclaim and many awards. As his deal with Vivid continues, even many of those soured by the plethora of piss poor porn parodies available have acknowledged that this series largely succeeds on its own merits, even the comic book fanboys accepting the deviations from source material as okay given the overall handling of their favorite characters. The latest such title is called Superman Vs. Spider-man XXX, a one shot comic from 1976 originally presented in an oversized comic, the title being the first true crossover of the DC and Marvel comic book universes. In the case of this pornified version, great liberties were taken and rather than copy the source material, Braun decided to liberally pick and choose elements from other media sources, including mainstream movies and other comic books but still providing a largely satisfying outing using Xander Corvus as the wise cracking web-slinger and Ryan Driller also reprising his role as the stoic man of steel.

From there, a host of other characters are brought forth as super fuck buddies, the five scenes including two with Xander in costume (initially doing Jazy Berlin as the Black Cat in her skintight outfit before boning Jenna Presley’s Spiderwoman as a means of saying thanks) and just one of Ryan giving Capri “Mary Jane” Anderson & Lily “Liz Osbourne” LaBeau the hot beef injection. Supergirl Kagney Linn Karter engaged in a lesbian tryst with criminal girlfriend Alexis Texas (a battle of the booties) just as Andy “Lois Lane” San Dimas did Eric “Lex Luthor” Masterson quite well. The sexual exploits took up the bulk of the running time too, about two hours of the nearly 140 minute movie, so even those not into comic book cosplay can have ample stroking fun with this one; just keep in mind that the events from the source book were not the same as the movie (not even close, though still fun).

The back cover described the movie like this: “The classic 1976 superhero crossover gets the XXX spoof treatment, courtesy of undisputed porn parody king Axel Braun and adult powerhouse Vivid Entertainment. When Doc Ock and Lex Luthor join forces to defeat their nemesis, Spidey and the Man of Steel meet for the first time and must work together to foil the evil duo's nefarious plans for world domination. Ryan Driller and Xander Corvus reprise their award-winning roles, and headline an all-star cast that includes Alexis Texas, Andy San Dimas, Capri Anderson, Kagney Linn Karter, Jenna Presley as Spider-Woman and an astounding Jazy Berlin as Black Cat. With lavish production values, spectacular VFX, and Braun's legendary attention to detail, SVS XXX is the porn parody event of the year!” Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Jazy “Black Cat” Berlin, a curvy babe with a mane of white hair and a skintight black outfit, was up first on the rooftop at night with Xander “Spiderman” Corvus when he interrupted her thieving ways. This was not the first scene between the two titanic Texans by any means but the cosplay element gave it some additional replay value and Alexis’ sweetly curved ass was wisely highlighted in such a way that even the fingering and gash gobbling did not beat it as the gals got each other off. My only complaint was that Kagney’s ass did not get as much screen time as it should have, the need for ball batter greatly diminished thanks to the quality of the ladies.

Scene Three: Lily “Liz Osbourn” LaBeau, Capri “Mary Jane” Anderson, and Ryan “Superman” Driller, were up next in the apartment when he needed their help to find a certain web crawling individual. The ladies were more than willing to assist his endeavor but wanted a favor first, primarily getting his red butt inside the apartment. The next thing you know, the ladies were double teaming his cock orally, each taking turns while the other would either kiss him or dry hump his leg. The ladies serviced each other from time to time as well but focused most of their energy on getting pounded by his cock vaginally, Capri taking him first before Lily got some good super loving from him. Eric had the best lines of the movie once again, his version of the character closest to the Gene Hackman characterization from the 70’s & 80’s movies rather than the shrill Kevin Spacey or comic versions. Andy did what she did best in terms of slobbing his knob so aggressively, the gal trapped in a hanging cage in the familiar brick loft while dressed in her white bikini undies. That she threw in how he better fuck her really well just added to the humor here, the sloppy hummer leading to Eric orally tearing into her neatly trimmed crotch before she acrobatically bounced on his rod vaginally. Summary: Superman Vs. Spider-man XXX by director Axel Braun for Vivid wisely took the basic premise of the epic battle and spun a completely different tale from there, the result of the pornified superhero elements marking this as one of the strongest parodies of the year for me. I know it came out well past the deadlines for the usual awards (XBiz and AVN) but it would surely be a contender had it come out sooner. That said, I rated it as Highly Recommended for the degree of entertaining story, the heated sexual escapades (lots of sex in costume for those who always manage to ask), and the attention to detail on a variety of elements. The leads were the best in their roles, Xander coming across like a smart-alecky teenager, Ryan as the stoic Kryptonian, Eric as Lex and James as Doctor Octopus were great. Ryder’s Perry White and Black’s J. Jonah Jameson were spot on too, a special nod going to Kagney Linn Karter for her repeat performance as Supergirl especially well done. In short, Superman Vs. Spider-man XXX was the kind of production that is becoming increasingly rare in the porn world, the budgets just not allowing for many such ventures and too many of the usual leeches only caring about a quick buck rather than showing a desire to built up a brand for long term viability. Good show!
