Extras: The best extra was a bonus scene from Voila featuring Penny Pax, Veruca James, and Kris Slater that lasted a full 38:09 minutes. The camerawork looked a bit shaky at times but the energy levels were high, some build up and chemistry enhancing the scene which came across as if a voyeur was peeping on the trio. There were then trailers to both Paint and Voila, a hardcore photogallery and a softcore galley for fans to appreciate.

Audio/Video Quality: Paint was presented in anamorphic widescreen as shot by director B. Skow for Girlfriends Films. As one of the first critics to extol the virtues of Skow’s directorial prowess years back and a guy that went out of his way to see as many of his movies as possible, I can safely say that I fall into the “fan” category when it comes to speaking of him. When given the time and resources to make a top notch flick, Skow has long been reliable and fully capable in the technical department, such being the case here where the lighting, the editing by Gabrielle Anex, and the feel of the feature elements were nicely handled, not to mention balanced properly with the sex scenes. Skow shared camera operating duties with Mike Towers to give it a bigger budget look & feel, the end result working for me almost all of the time (and there was no continuous company watermark for those asking). The aural components were likewise helpful at conveying the appropriate moods and tone of the trysts, my appreciation for Skow’s works outside of his former home at Vivid largely restored (I did not see his debut, Voila, when it came out; only during the award season rush). I sense there will be bigger and better things coming out of the director in this sense but this was a nice step back to the Skow I have long supported as one of the best in the business. Of special note was the ending tune that was not credited but struck me as catchy all the same.

Body of Review: B. Skow has made scores of excellent movies over the years, his recent distribution deal with Girlfriends Films allowing him substantially more creative freedom as well as giving the company a platform to delve into sexuality involving male partners at times. While Voila was a critical success last year, I suspect newly released Paintwill find a wider audience given the push towards quality couples films showing passion and acting one can appreciate. The basic story involves a younger cutie (Chastity Lynn, one of my favorite performers) hooking up with an established artist (Dana DeArmond, in a role that perfectly framed her varied talents) before all the usual outside influences tried to break them apart. Skow seemed to let Dana improvise much of her material, the woman doing an excellent job of portraying her character too, but the fun factor was especially high given the lack of formulaic sex scenes where the cast really shined. Chastity Lynn and Dana DeArmond were exceptional in most of the five scenes (Chastity having a very limited role in scene four, but otherwise one or both of them in all the other scenes as a main player), Lea Lexis, Veruca James, and Leilani Leeane rounding out the rest of the ladies in the cast.

Skow commented on the movie just before the AEE by stating the following: “This is exactly the kind of passionate, story-driven movie I dreamed of making when I discussed a distribution deal with Girlfriends Films,” says B. Skow. “The movie’s central love triangle captures the dynamics and desire between two women and a woman and a man. Though the addition of male performers and boy/girl sex scenes are integral to the story, ‘Paint’ still encapsulates the key elements Girlfriends Films is known for.” In “Paint,” budding young artist Leelee (Chastity Lynn) is presented with the once in a lifetime chance to apprentice with celebrated painter and notorious lesbian seductress Jenn (Dana DeAr-mond). Jenn carefully nurtures Leelee’s talents on canvas and in the bedroom. For a time the women are inseparable, until Leelee meets Jake Malloy (Ryan Driller), who promises her fame, fortune, and a man’s touch. Now Leelee must choose – man or woman, money or passion. The back cover described the movie like this: “Leelee is an aspiring artist, willing to do whatever it takes, including taking a job with a highly regarded painter named Jenn. Jenn is an older and wiser, and young Leelee takes full advantage of her mentoring. But Leelee's no mere starfucker. She has feelings for Jenn; she just doesn't know how to express them... except in her art. Still, her lusty affection for her boss doesn't keep her from sleeping with young Hollywood hotshot (and douchebag) Jake Malloy... against her better judgment and on the promise of a major gallery show. Not surprisingly, Malloy ends up treating Leelee as just another sex prop in his strange, fetishistic world. Will Leelee become an art star? Or will she wind up on the canvas like so many wannabes? Will Jenn pick her up and dust her off, or never look back? It's all here in Paint, a story of tortured love, beautifully framed by B. Skow.” Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Veruca James, a sexy little brunette, was up first with award winning Dana DeArmond, the seduction aspect helping to establish Dana as a fun loving lady nearly as well as her feature elements to this point showed her to completely fit the role of an artist. Veruca lightly caressed her leg as Dana unfastened her shirt buttons, some small talk and kisses leading to boob play. They appeared to enjoy each other on a few levels, their mutual eye contact and all the little touches one finds in other films by the company coming across as less forced than scenes from the lipstick lesbian competition. Interspersed throughout the scene were feature elements of Chastity overhearing the tryst too, Dana as the dominant partner in the scene readily apparent even though she sucked toes and engaged in ass play. Both ladies were lean and into their roles here, an important part of conveying their respective characters and making for strokable porn, the athletic positions and sheer amount of gash gobbling and fingering enhanced by all the other aspects on display (such as the foot play where Dana was choking out Veruca). As they progressed, Dana donned a strap on dildo and came across as though she were really masculine about how to play things out, Veruca surprisingly solid as she masturbated and called out her fears of the device. The active vaginal riding then ended without the usual genetic juice face plastering; that left for fans at home to engage in.

Scene Two: Chastity Lynn, the perky little blond featured on the front cover, was up next going down on lean brunette Dana DeArmond at the dinner table, the sassy blond displaying to her boss that she was not just talking shit. The tease involved some light touching on Dana’s already soiled gray shorts, the facial expressions as she got off to Chastity’s under the table antics adding something extra to the mix. While this was not the kind of full lesbian sex scene one would get elsewhere, it proved that you don’t always need such to make a hot scene and that Skow was willing to explore less formulaic trysts in a way his former employer rarely would have allowed. There were also feature elements of the two engaging in naked painting as their mutual chemistry built, the lack of reciprocation during the main portion of the sex not hurting it any more than the lack of population pudding in most of the scenes.

Scene Three: Chastity Lynn, having achieved a modicum of success herself (both in the movie and in real life), was up next as predator Ryan Driller tried to get some from her using the oldest douche tactics in the book. She was wearing some tight blue jean shorts and a loose top, Ryan slowly and unabashedly worming his way into her pants as Dana listened nearby (a turnabout from the first scene). While Chastity warmed up a bit too fast when she finally gave in, the reasoning provided coming across as forced and the noises from the next room offering the final push, they did look good together as she reached over to kiss him. He then carried her to the small bed and began pawing her, their extended kisses and groping leading to her actively slobbing his knob. She gave him some head both with and without hands, the nearby noises from traffic and such adding a new dimension. She throated him with relative ease as he played with her ample ass, additional kissing as he played with her pussy before they actively rode in several vaginal positions. While the scene was nothing like her driven gonzo performances, and better suited for this movie than any of them would be, the ending wad of spunk on her crotch punctuating the back and forth dynamic between the two leads fairly well (though who sets their air conditioning on “60” these days, brrr). This was followed up with a non-explicit tryst between the two proving his real intentions.

Scene Four: Leilani Leeane, Lea Lexis, and Alec Knight, were up next in a living room as the ladies showed their appreciation for the arts by doing the art dealer. His previous display of corporate greed established his character in a defined sense too, the ladies double teaming his pecker aggressively as he stood before them next to the red couch. The sloppy hummer led to him rimming and eating them out too, some lesbian antics included along the way but both ladies showing their shapely assets quite nicely. Leilani had a super curvy ass and Lea was as driven sexually as her gonzo works to date, the ease by which she took his cock in her ass showing her skill just as the rippling ass of Leilani giving her some extra strokability too. The ladies assisted one another sexually throughout the tryst and Leilani was just as active anally as vaginally, the ending nut of spunk deposited in nearby Chastity Lynn’s mouth as part of their arrangement to secure her dreams of independence. As expected of her character, Chastity spit out the offending splooge while the trio went back to fucking, though it was handled mostly off camera. .

Scene Five: Dana DeArmond, all dressed up and coming to terms with her adoration of Chastity Lynn, was up last with the blond cutie after Chastity’s disillusionment with the art world put her at a new low. A few feature elements later they were on the love seat in the studio embracing, realizing what was important as the soft music played. They kissed and laughed at length, peeling off attire as they came to grips with their feelings for one another on a deeper level, Chastity joining Dana as an equal more than as yet another conquest, the character growth central to the director’s stated vision of the movie. While they engaged in the same plethora of oral and fingering tricks as before, the scene showed them in a completely different state of mind, the orgasms looking real and their attraction and chemistry even stronger. The two ended up on the floor and kissed a lot before reflecting on their newfound status in frisky fashion, a catchy tune playing at the end (but uncredited).

Summary: Paint by director B. Skow for Girlfriends Films was an excellent showcase for talented Dana DeArmond and fetching young Chastity Lynn as much as his own feature chops spoken off in past reviews. The sexual chemistry and passion relied not on copious amounts of ball batter plastering the tonsils of the two leads, though their gonzo resumes surely offer up ample evidence that they can handle such as well as their peers, but of their ability to convey sexual elements as strongly as feature elements my the first outstanding couples drama of the new year. The technical values and extras added some fun too, the replay value and strokability combining with the other elements to make this not only Highly Recommended but well worth some award nods later this year. In short, Paint was a whole new chapter of quality in Skow’s porn resume, mixing it up in a way his older movies did not provide as much as show Girlfriends Films was not just a one trick pony. While you can enjoy the sex alone, this was a flick you might better enjoy with company too, I’ll be surprised if Dana does not garner some serious award attention for it later this year.
