Audio/Video Quality: Evil Anal 17 was presented in the same 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen the scenes were originally shot in by director Manuel Ferrara for Evil Angel. The quality of the visuals varied a bit here but Manuel focused less on the technical matters instead of maintaining the usual sexual energy and chemistry. The lighting was decent and that eliminated most of the problems associated with gonzo productions, Manuel's works virtually always a few notches above the competition from what I've seen over the years. The editing was decent and the minor quirks on the technical side (flesh tones not always accurate) did not deter me from enjoying the scenes most of the time. The company watermark was also prominent in the lower right corner, something I do not generally care about though many of my readers do. The audio was offered up in 2.0 Dolby Digital English but there was no separation noticed that I could figure out, and the dynamic range was pretty limited too; the scenes coming from quickly shot gonzo; the guerilla shooting style favored by pornographers everywhere.

Body of Review: Manuel Ferrara is one of the most sought after performers in the industry, his directorial efforts at Evil Angel providing the basics of heated sex, passionate ladies, and his ever present amounts of chemistry that few of his peers can offer these days. His latest release making it my way for review is Evil Anal 17, an all anal extravaganza starring ladies such as Sheena Shaw, Claire Robbins, Bridgette B. and Eva Karera. Unlike so many of the previous volumes focusing on high recognition name talent, this one seemed to pick a selection of newcomers and otherwise pleasing ladies, Manuel a major selling point compared to the volume of weaker mopes used so often in competitor titles.

Summary: Evil Anal 17 by director Manuel Ferrara for Evil Angel had a bit over two hours of footage, the director doing a good job of connecting with his ladies so I rated it as Recommended. Manuel is good as a director in the gonzo realm but his biggest strength will probably always be his own sexual abilities and chemistry with the ladies, all four scenes providing some stroke value but less of the anticipation some of his all star efforts of the recent past provided. In short, Evil Anal 17 was just a single disc release and lacking major female “name” talent admittedly made this volume in the ever popular series less to appreciate though Sheena Shaw continues to impress and the surprise inclusion of Dana Vespoli did merit some extra stroke value for this long time connoisseur of her work on both sides of the camera (I am so looking forward to her upcoming titles for Evil Angel) even if that was the one scene that Manuel did not participate (with Dana and Bridgette B. doing Ramon instead).
