Audio/Video Quality: James Deen Loves Butts was presented in anamorphic widescreen as directed by James Deen for Evil Angel. As James was in every scene, he enlisted talented Tim Von Swine to handle videography chores, the resulting footage being very clear though there being relatively little editing so much of the material had to be shot on the fly. James is not new to directing but his “style” differs from many of his peers in that he attempts to capture the roughness of the sex acts whole, not wanting to water them down with edits so as to keep the momentum going, your mileage may vary as to how that works for you in specific cases though I say again that the scenes generally looked quite good, the company watermark rarely intrusive in the lower right hand corner. The aural components were on the basic side too, the vocals easily heard in most cases, even James’ admonitions whispered to his partners during the scenes, music used only during the credits and tease portions of the scenes.

Body of Review: James Deen has long been held up as an example of a male performer that can actually act, his many roles in parodies and features garnering quite a bit of acclaim. He also participates in gonzo these days, his latest turn at directing coming from the acclaimed Evil Angel in the movie James Deen Loves Butts. I’ll admit up front that James style of rough sex with the ladies, many of whom come across as partnering with him solely for the paycheck, often leaves me a bit anxious, my preference always being to watch scenes the ladies are truly into (or at least acted like they are having fun) but there are some out there that adore the little guy so I was interested in checking this one out. With James in every scene, the choice of partners became more important which is why I appreciated ladies such as Mason Moore, Dana DeArmond, and Skin Diamond in scenes (each could kick his ass if they wanted to), though the scenes with hotties Jessie Rogers and Cameron Canada just did not work for me as well (more on that later). In some ways, James seemed restrained here compared to his more outlandish works as a performer but hats off to Tim Von Swine for capturing what I thought was the essence of James in action almost every time.

Scene One: Skin Diamond, the light skinned black gal featured on the left side of the cover, was up first with James Deen. Summary: James Deen Loves Butts by director James Deen for Evil Angel had anal in each scene, ladies such as Skin Diamond, Dana DeArmond, and Mason Moore all handling the backdoor antics with ease while some of the abusive antics with Jessie Rogers and Cameron Canada left me cold. Compared to the director’s previous works for Burning Angel, this marks a solid attempt at a purely gonzo offering from the man and his potential shined through about half the time, the technical help by Tim Von Swine clearly enhancing the end result substantially for me even if certain aspects were not to my liking so I rated this as a Rent It unless you are one of James diehard supporters unable to remove the rose colored glasses and be objective. In short, James Deen Loves Butts had five scenes of anal sex with a plethora of attractive ladies on hand and a distinctive enough style to merit notice, I just thought it was slightly inconsistent in terms of a mutual connection between the partners and lack of chemistry so check it out before buying. On a side note, the cover itself looked thrown together in amateurish fashion, almost to the point where it looked like a bootleg at a flea market or as if it came from one of the compilation mills, I challenge anyone to come up with as poorly designed a cover from such a high end company as Evil Angel in the recent past.
