Audio/Video Quality: Gardener was presented in anamorphic widescreen as shot by director B. Skow for Girlfriends Films under their Skow Digital line. Skow, Mike “Miguel” Towers, and Chad Boyer worked the cameras and the editing by Gabrielle Anex was good in most cases. The visual elements looked darker than usual, seemingly emulating the shadows of some independent mainstream movies to provide a sort of over the top realism just in time for Halloween. The flesh tones were washed out and Maddy was made to look especially rough, none of the cast looking their best for scores of reasons. The stereo aural aspects of the movie were fairly well done, the vocals easily understood, the uncredited music impacting the quality of production in a good way (I liked the song at the end).

Body of Review: B. Skow is the most controversial director at Girlfriends Films, his movies of late often taking some mighty dark turns. His latest flick is called Gardener, a drama involving kidnapping, pregnancy, and a host of issues you just don’t see every day in porn. With attractive ladies such as Jessie Andrews doing her first anal, AJ Applegate, Maddy O’Reilly and other women of interest having sex with an admittedly less interesting group of men, I thought it had some potential to be the next of Skow’s flicks to inspire dark spirited banter, the story inspiring Skow and Stanley coming from the Isidro Garcia kidnapping case from earlier this year (Google it). The back cover described the movie like this: “Amanda Trask was taken by a man named Richard Alan Goetz and his family in 2001. She has lived on his family property, nicknamed "The Garden," ever since. In that time, she's learned to abide by his ways and live by his rules. In all that time, she's never tried to escape. Not even once. But when Amanda becomes pregnant with Richard's baby, she starts to wonder if maybe it isn't time to leave the nest of The Garden.”

The press release then said: “Director B. Skow tackles yet another taboo topic in his new movie, The Gardener (Skow for Girlfriends) and manages to turn in yet another sexual thriller. In another story ripped from the newswire, Skow and his writing partner David Stanley came up with a shocking tale that is amazingly sexy. Starring Jessie Andrews, who does her first anal scene in the movie, with Karla Kush, AJ Applegate, Maddy O’Reilly and Nadia Styles. "It's about a girl who's kidnapped at a young age and kept confined until she was an adult, and about a guy who's obsessed with growing flowers and he was a mental patient,” Skow explained in an interview earlier this summer. “He took it to a limit where he wanted to grow this girl and when she was of age, he wanted to impregnate her and make a perfect baby. It's a really odd sort of thing. It's based on the story of the girl from Northern California, but I didn't want to criticize that person or be rude to that girl, what she went through, so it's totally imaginary. It's me and David going to the ends of my imagination and, you know, we just took the idea of someone doing that and went into their head and tried to make it really insane, and make the sex work for itself.” Skow not only got Jessie Andrews to do her first anal scene for the movie, but she also gave him the exclusive with a one-year contract that says she won’t do one for anyone else for a year—if ever. Knight does the anal scene with Jessie, who also has a B/B/G and a BJ scene. AJ, Karla and Maddy have a G/G/G scene, and Nadia does a B/B/G with Knight and Lockwood. The movie also features a very convincingly-crazy Kurt Lockwood, Alec Knight, Bruce Venture and Clover. Hard and soft trailers are now available for The Gardener.” Here’s a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used for those still interested:

Scene One: Jessie Andrews, the blond featured on the front cover, was up in a shaded area of a garden naked as she was set to slobbing the knob of Kurt Lockwood, the man also naked. They kissed and he stroked himself with some hand to gland friction, Jessie kneeling during the exceptionally short hummer where her efforts quickly drained his dragon of semen in under 4 minutes.

Scene Two: AJ Applegate, Maddy O’Reilly, and Karla Kush where then up in a lesbian tryst with each other as they took turns gobbling gash, playing with ass, and some titty antics in bed. Rather than kidnap a child, this time they got a gal with ripened fruit courtesy of AJ’s spiel used to reel the gal in. Nadia was on the mattress with Kurt rubbing her chest, sucking her nipples and kissing her until Alec angrily joined in. Bonus Scene: Daddy’s Girls: Maddy O’Reilly, played the blind girl Alec Knight obsessed about, the man disgustingly staying in her room as she undressed, the gal revealing how he raped her in her sleep and made her do a bunch of other things to her that caused her to try and kill herself. She cried out for help and he gagged her to silence her, ravishing her body until she gave in. Okay, at this point I only want to bash the guy in the head with any handy object, not engage in some “me time” but the scene continued forward to show him gobble her gash and ass, his erection raging hard as he went back into her for another round. The mixed message of her starting to enjoy the rape left me hanging too; her sexy form taking his pecker in pussy and mouth aggressively once she came around, his hands pawing her with some intermittent oral by both parties included. He spanked her hard enough to redden her juicy ass cheeks and pushed her down to leave her ass in the air while her head was on the floor, Maddy pushing back to meet his thrusts. He then forced her to suck her walking stick and inserted it inside her, beating off to her face until she glistened with population pudding as her reward; the expression of loathing on her face as he went down on her again, a visitor interrupting their final moments.

Summary: Gardener by director B. Skow for Girlfriends Films merited a rating of Skip It even for those who can overlook the super creepy feature elements and the lack of strokable content in the scenes to focus on the best parts of the remaining sex scenes. Lockwood portraying a psychotic killer and Knight as a mentally retarded sidekick definitely came across as this generations porn version of “Of Mice and Men/Talk Dirty To Me”, the dark spirited angle apparently in vogue as “edgy sells”. I’ll hand it to both males that their acting skills seemed up to the task for their respective roles but the sex seemed short in most cases and lacked eroticism of the kind normal people find inspire sessions of self love, the whole premise of kidnapping a child and raising her in a garden until getting her pregnant strikes me as far more gruesome than Skow’s previous works with David Stanley. In short, Gardener was a story less suited for sexploitation than just about anything else I’ve seen on the market, no wonder the director tried to shy me away from reviewing it the other day. And while the male leads were certainly talented enough in their portrayals to convey their characters, the duo widely recognized for their non-sexual skills even by detractors, I just didn’t find the way this was shot or the way the ladies looked to compensate so if you get off to this one, by all means seek help because “amazingly sexy” are not the descriptors I would come up with for the show, perhaps the ass kissers or fan boys will disagree (Skow is one of the most technically proficient directors and Stanley among the most talented writers in the business, the feature striking me as yet another attempt to out disgust the competition for some reason).
