Audio/Video Quality: The picture was presented in 1.33:1 ratio full frame. The movie ran into a lot of problems, cameras broke down, lights screwed up, sound equipment failed and some of it was blatantly obvious. The director went with using B&W during the story parts and switched to color during the sex parts so if you're going to skip the talking parts, that's a hint. In any case, the audio was presented in a remastered 5.1 track but there wasn't a lot of good sound to work with. As an interesting aside, the audio commentary cut out several times too-and it was made much later so this must've been jinxed from the get go.

Body of Review: Contrary to popular opinion, all porn is not created equal. Some companies put time and money into their movies in order to either sell to cable or just give the movies a longer shelf life. Other companies try to cut corners at every turn and hope to make a few thousand sales before scrapping it to a back catalog. Wicked Pictures is known as one of the leading companies with regard to what they put into a movie. One need only look at Hercules for a recent example of the type of movie Wicked strives to make. In general, they focus on movies with some plot that are usually considered suited for couples more than hardcore raincoaters. I'm not a couple, nor do I wear a raincoat, but I enjoy all kinds of mainstream porn and Wicked reins as the leader of feature porn at this time. With this in mind, I now take a look at a movie from 1999, just out on dvd, The Life.

In the movie, Kylie, a long time fan favorite, not to mention a cutie, plays an investigative reporter who wants to do an expose on a bordello. There's really not much story this time and the audio commentary discusses a lot of the problems that took place during the shooting-from the Sheriff's visit, to Joel's need for weed, to equipment failure, to Kylie's illness at the time and more. To be honest, the sex was good enough to enjoy on that level and skipping the plot, and the commentary was good enough to enjoy on an intellectual level. Here's the scenes by cast:

Scene One: Lola, looking extremely fine, took care of Mickey in a bathroom. After some swell oral by her, the two go at it in a straight sex bone, with a condom (Wicked believes that protecting the health of it's performers is a good idea and I'm inclined to agree with them). Very well done scene between these two who were, at the time, a couple.

Scene Two: Aurora, in one of her earlier scenes with Wicked, took on Mike on a bed. She was looking hot, but then, doesn't she always? Very cute gal having fun with an older guy in what can be described as very warm with chemistry. I really liked that she jerked him off to completion since watching the guy do it himself is lame. Maybe more production companies can do this?

Scene Three: Taylor, a hot looking gal that was implied by Kylie to be a problem on the set, took on Eric and Byron. The scene was kind of weak to me as Eric was underutilized and she didn't seem into it very much. Passable but not her best work. Her outfit looked hot though but most of the problem was explained on the commentary.

Scene Four: Kylie, a woman that has proven to have more energy and skill than most of the women in porn, took on Byron in a smoking scene that included anal, deep anal. Youch!

Scene Five: Kylie, back in the saddle again, got worked up with Lola and then Joel joined in on a big bed. Oral and straight sex with Lola on the receiving end most of the time but Kylie got some too. Very warm for this reviewer to watch

Scene Six: Inari and Kylie got their chance to shine on a couch. They used toys and it not only looked, but sounded like she came and this was confirmed on the commentary track. Yeah!

Summary: This was, on a technical level at least, one of the weaker Wicked Pictures dvds I've seen in awhile yet the sex was good in most of the scenes and the women really hot. I'm rating this "train wreck" as Kylie and Eli called it, as Recommended for Kylie fans such as myself but others may want to just rent it. There was a lot to like here, even if the production stuff went south too often.
