Audio/Video Quality: The picture was presented in 1.33:1 ratio full frame color. The picture had some grain and color bleeding but overall it was about average for Vivid. The audio was in stereo but I didn't notice any separation of the channels-the vocals were mostly clear with a few low spots and the music pretty weak.

Body of Review: Vivid has such a large number of productions going on any given time that it's sometimes difficult to keep up with them and their directors. One of the quirkier directors is David Stanley. For the most part, he doesn't make the best porn and it's rumored that he was kicked out of Elegant Angel after failing to impress them much. Once in awhile though, he comes through with a winner of a porno. It's a shame that this isn't one of those times. In the movie Long Story Short, we see a mish mash of obscure humor tossed together (and we're talking REALLY obscure here), that loosely ties together 5 sex scenes, centering on the lovely Savannah Sampson. There's little plot and actor Steven St. Croix sums it up best at the end of the movie with his comments, but here's a quick breakdown of the stuff you care most about, the sex scenes:

Scene One: Savannah, the lead and gal on the dvd cover, and Steven, had a scene in his apt after he showed his mental instability towards a cherry pie. She deep throats him and playfully licks the tip of his penis and he reciprocates by rimming her while they get into a 69 position. He then does her, with a condom like all the scenes here, in cowgirl and missionary before popping. Not great because the short length of the scene (not his cock) but okay to watch.

Scene Two: Savannah and Michelle had a lesbian scene on a bed using toys. Not a bad scene but I was hoping the spanking monkey would join them (insider joke).

Scene Three: Michelle and Marty had a short scene in the back of his van/truck. Oral and straight only as well as tamer than I'd hoped for.

Scene Four: Alex and Mickey had a scene on a couch. Oral and straight sex that the two seemed to enjoy. The lighting was interesting and a bit better than average for the show.

Scene Five: Nakita and Eric paired up for a BJ only while Savannah and Cheyne did each other. The Savannah portion was pretty warm and the exposition at the end of the scene was amusing (don't forget to watch the end of the credits).

Summary: I'm feeling generous and think a rating of Rent It is fair for what you get this time. The movie really is a long story "short" and if a few of the sex scenes had been expanded, or at least made hotter, I'd probably have rated this one higher, even with the weak direction. It's not nearly as bad as I've read online but it certainly wasn't groundbreaking either.
