Audio/Video Quality: The picture was presented in the usual 1.33:1 aspect ratio also known as full frame, as originally shot. I rarely expect much from gonzo productions made so long ago but the Shane's World series is generally well done. There was some grain and moments of video noise but they were rare enough as to be no major concern to me. The camera angles and shakiness of the production are part of it's charm, much like The Morgan Sex Project series, but this style doesn't appeal to everyone. The audio was presented in 2.0 stereo English but there was no discernable separation between the channels. Most of the time, the vocals were clear and easy to understand but again, not always. There was little dynamic range too. I didn't see or hear any compression artifacts.

Body of Review: A long time ago, a little series made a lot of noise in the porn world, a series that combined aspects of a couple of reality cable television shows, The Real World and Road Rules, and those of the usual sexual antics the porn industry is known for. The name of the series was Shane's World and until volume 19, it was directed and produced by Shane herself. After that, a series of uncredited directors were put in charge of the project under the auspices of the gal Shane gave the series to. There was always a lot to enjoy in the series though, regardless of who was at the helm, since the idea was to show a small group of people simply having fun on a sort of vacation. Much of the time, the cast played around and teased one another, giving those "off to the side" interviews to explain where their head was at in a given moment. Other times, they actually had sex in all its glory, enjoying the fullest pleasures available for the camera. The volumes I've seen have been few and far between but as the older volumes get newly remastered releases on DVD, with all the cool extras you'd expect, I think a lot of people will rediscover the fun these movies were. Without going into too much detail, here's a quick breakdown of the scenes included in Shane's World 28: Devil's Punchbowl: Collector's Edition:

Scene One: Violet, a gal that went on after this was made and made quite a name for herself, had a scene with Mario on a couch. He looks very much like a young version of Rocco Siffredi (the Evil Angel porn stud). The two enjoyed the scene even though it was just oral and straight sex and I think they had some chemistry together.

Scene Two: Alana, the most experienced gal of the cast and a bleach blonde gal with very lean limbs, Luna, a gal with average looks but a nice rack, and Chris, a surfer dude wannabe that seemed out of place throughout the movie, had a scene together in the wilderness by a stream. They weren't the most talented bunch in the movie (well, Alana was but she didn't appeal to me much) and the scene was only fair, with oral and straight sex the majority of the action.

Scene Three: Brittany and Brie, my two favorite gals of the release (Violet grew on me much later when her look was refined a bit) did Mario on a bed. The gals were energetic and had a lot of chemistry with the Hungarian muscle man. He, in turn, was playful with them, teasing them from time to time even as he boned them and got blown.

Scene Four: Violet, in the bathtub, with her boyfriend Steve, had an okay scene together. Once clean, they moved it to the bed where he showed how poor his skills were in bed. The sex was oral and straight with a bit of chemistry but not much heat. Her losing him was a good plan.

Scene Five: Brie, the nature chick of the DVD, went to bed with loser Steve and they attempted to have a better scene than he had with his real life girlfriend Violet. She tried to liven him up a bit but he was tame here too, be it with the oral or the straight sex.

Scene Six: Alana, the bleached blonde, had that Olive Oil persona going for her which may appeal to some guys out there but not me. She blew Mario outdoors before he started boning her by the pool on a lawn chair. He did a good job of it and she appeared to have some fun but since she didn't appeal to me, how much heat would I be expected to notice? It was oral and straight only with some energy if not chemistry.

Summary: I actually liked Slumber Party 15 better than this one although it was worth giving a rating of Rent It to. I think the other volumes in the earlier years had a sort of magic that the later volumes, found difficult to emulate although even the worse ones were worth a rental or three. The technical aspects and extras combined with some decent sex made it almost worth a recommended but when you don't like some of the cast, the value ratio drops off quickly.
