Kelli Lox interview

XCRITIC

When I first got to know Kelli Lox, I thought to myself that this lady is honest and tells it like it is. She sees the whole picture and situation and knows how to adapt. It is quite apparent that Kelli knows what she wants out of this industry and how people should act. Her mantra "the point of being sexy is to get more ass, not to become an ass" is a good motto that adult stars should live by. This tranny likes to have fun and wants to be known as the "most fuckable." It's going to be a lot of fun watching her prove to everyone on screen that she deserves that title. No doubt that she is in the right industry to prove it.

Hi Kelli, I enjoy that you like to have fun while being on film. Your personality shines through and it makes everyone in the room loosen up and chill out. What is your mindset when you are starting a scene?

I sometimes tell people: 'if it weren't fun, I wouldn't do it.'  I try to see the fun part of making the scene and internalize it as a personal adventure; a specialty; a craft.  And for me, the goal is always to connect on a deep level with the viewer.  When I say some coy little thing, with a demure smile, I want the viewer to think "she's talking to me!" Sometimes I ask a little question, and anticipate the viewer's answer, and then subtly react accordingly!  Silly, I know. But I really get into it, and you can tell.  Basically, however, I want to grab the guy's attention and make him think one thing about me: most fuckable.  The rest is just joking around ~ and you're right ~ if the model is not comfortable, discerning viewers could be turned off. That's another reason why the relationship between photographer and model is so important.

How long have you been in the industry? How did you get into the adult industry?

I'm really new to the porn world.  It all started a few years ago, and I think I was just at that age when people take a look at their life and start to recognize some sort of trajectory to the grave, as if some job or circumstance has reduced one's life to repetitive monotony whose next big event is reclining in a coffin. You know, that "is this all there is?" moment in every person's life. Anyways, I remembered something that I had really enjoyed doing a few years before: modeling for art classes in college. So I created an online modeling profile and started finding work. When the shoots started getting explicitly racy, I realized I needed a porn-specific identity, and that's when Kelli Lox was born!

I am a big fan of watching transsexual performers be paired up with a female porn star. How does it feel having sex with a woman instead of a man? In your personal life, are you mostly with a guy or is it a mixture of men and women?

I love having sex with bio girls. To be honest though, I'm out of practice. I suck at "being the guy" - you know?  In my mind, I want it to be like two girls messing around, where I just happen to have a strap-on - more playful and less conquest-based, so to speak. That's why I prefer to have a bio-guy around, so that - even if I'm fucking the girl - it's clear that he is the source of the macho manly manliness, not me. I'm a girl and I like to be treated like a girl in the bedroom.  So, yeah, in my non-porn world, I am mostly with guys, who, for all intents and purposes behave as if I were a ("real") bio girl who they happen to really adore, much to my pleasure.

At what age did you realize that you were different with your gender?

I always knew. Seriously, I can't remember a time when I didn't know that something was up. I was, on a fundamental level, not like my older brother and dad.  I related to my mom as a role model.  I remember being frustrated that my community had effectively "outlawed" me.  I mean, what if I wanted to get rid of all of my boy clothes and start living as a girl? The idea was laughable! But I knew that someday, who knows when, but someday, I would do it. Now, twenty years later, it's done (thank goodness!!).  The first time I remember having a "forbidden" item of girls clothes was when I was in kindergarten. I was "the Hulk" and to give me green legs, my mom bought me these girls hunter green over-the-knee cable socks. For the few months I had those socks in my clothing collection, I could hardly focus on anything else.

When did you first dress like a woman? When did you know that you wanted to transition into a transsexual with boobs?

I was in college and I remember seeing pink triangles and stuff like that around campus. The message was one of tolerance, patience, and understanding, as if to say "you not sure about your sexual orientation? your gender? that's cool, this is a safe zone in your life to figure it out. it's ok, no one is going to beat you up." And I began flirting with the idea of dressing up and then getting my nails done, or reading at the park, or going shopping, or just going for a walk. A few times I managed to look cute, but really, I had no idea what I was doing when it came to makeup and basic fashion sense.  I sometimes tell people "I had to scrunch the entire typical 15 years of training in the womanly arts into the span of just a few years!" When I was 24, I asked my doctor about transitioning to female, and she referred me to some specialists. The specialists took one look at my request and approved it.  That's when I started growing boobs! I have never regretted it!

What traits of a woman do you admire most? What makes a woman sexy?

Wisdom.  I think of wisdom as "lessons learned in a past life." It's a sort of intellectual detachment from one's immediate physical surroundings.  Like being able to see a bigger picture at all times.  When I see that in a woman, I want to be like her - to learn her sense of secretive-smile-calmness and gleam-in-the-eyes-presence, a clever little thing said here, an authentic giggle there ... god that's just awesome.  Pretty girls, even in the niche transsexual community, are a dime a dozen. Ok, maybe a quarter lol. My point is, a lot of girls are dumbasses and get carried away with drugs, cosmetic surgery, or bloated ego. I think a sexy woman is wise enough to ignore the various temptations of all sorts that come with success, and still look just as great and have just as much fun, especially in the long run! I sometimes tell people "the point of being sexy is to get more ass, not to become an ass!"

What type of guy turns you on? What makes a man sexy?

I like a guy who is taller than me, and strong enough to pick me up easily.  I'm kinda tall, so I really have to be with someone bigger than me, so that, even from far away, visually speaking - I am the girl. He has to be deliberate - not indecisive. If a guy just constantly asks what I want to do, or can't execute a simple plan of action, it gets annoying. I want a guy who says things like "on Friday night, I'm taking you out and we are going to have fun" as if he just knows it - and since he knows it - that's exactly what's going to happen.  I love that. Most important is that he treats me like a "real" bio girl in front of others.

Many porn stars are animal lovers. Are you one and are you a cat or dog lover?

Atchoooo!!!!  I'm so allergic to cats. I sneeze just thinking about them! I'm definitely a dog person.  As a matter of fact, I was just visiting with my neighbor, enjoying homemade lemonade on her porch, and she has like 4 dogs. As we chatted, her dogs took turns coming up to me and getting rubbed & scratched behind the ears! They are so cute! I used to have a dog - she was a long-nosed black chow. I miss her a lot. She was the best. Her name was Sumia.

What was the biggest surprise for you about the adult industry when you started?

For me, porn started out merely as a fantasy. As if the experience of participating in a photo shoot, by itself, were the whole enchilada. It wasn't until I started meeting my peers and getting a feel for the industry that I realized that's it's actually a long-term business, despite the sex and the fun. That was the surprise: these models had agents, publicists, webmasters, affiliates, and working relationships with a pantheon of photographers, directors, and other talent - this was WORK!  It was a hilarious revelation for me, as I had considered porn the opposite of my day job. Now, of course, I respect this line of work as a venture that requires dedication and skill, as well as time and patience.

Are there any particular industry talent (actors, actresses, directors, studios) who you want to work very badly with and why? What would be your dream scene?

I have worked with a few photographers who are less inspiring than others. I mean, they present a tone that's like clock-work: we get this number of pics with you undressing in outfit 1, then repeat it for video of this many minutes in length, then do the same with outfit 2 here on this side of the room.  Yawn.  Boring.  It's hard to look engaged when you're bored.  So anyone who has a vision, even if it's super basic - can provide a compelling story line of some sort.  That makes it something fun - an opportunity to create something that hasn't been done before.  A producer and I have recently been discussing plans for a scene, and just over the phone, we clicked, because we both got excited about the cute, silly little plot, along with the accessories and props we'd need. I like scenes where I have lines and am explicitly expected to act, rather than just make "sexy faces" at the camera while removing outfit 2, you know what I mean?

If we saw you singing in your car, what songs would you be singing?

Paramore, Tegan and Sarah, Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, and Jesse McCartney.  Or I'd be trying to keep up with the lyrics on some rap song. I also listen to a lot of jazz radio, so you might just see me tapping on the steering wheel or bobbing my head with a be-bop boogie-look on my face.

How were you as a kid growing up?

I was a trouble-maker.  I was the one who would stun the other kids by talking back to the teacher, upending their supposed supreme authority over us.  Yet I was always at the top of the class, smarts-wise.  Why was I such a little hellion? Well, I had to protect myself.  I saw a lot of tender boys getting teased, ostracized, excluded, and disrespected.  I knew right away that the only way I would enjoy my youth was to establish social rank among the other boys in my town. I was not the best at sports, nor was I the coolest, richest, or most popular. So being an independent rebel with a fuck you attitude allowed me to party with the boys and fuck the girls in high school, and no one cared that I had danced ballet, spoke other languages, read a lot, played piano, etc. - Christ, I lettered in Drama! But, I was automatically "cool enough" because I was a crazy little fucker who was brave enough to have fun even at the risk of serious consequences.  I had a great childhood.

What are your hobbies and interests?

I like to play soccer on Sundays (although I don't always go - what? sometimes I sleep in!) and I love to ski.  In my free time, I'm usually messing around in my garden.  I have tons of stuff growing, with little paths and shady spots and places to sit and birds that come and say hi.  It's beautiful! I also love to cook. I use quality ingredients and make complicated dishes from scratch. I used to ride motorbikes out in the woods a lot, but now that I live in the city and don't have a truck anymore, it's rare. I'm working on fixing my 1984 Honda 250 right now. Other than all that, I'm an artist!  Yes, I paint, draw, take photos, do some graphic design, and compose, record, and perform music.  I've been in tons of bands of all different genres.  Right now, I'm getting my Soundcloud page together (soundcloud.com/kelli_lox) and I'm looking to form a new band.

What is your favorite thing about being an adult performer?

My fans.  They seem to appreciate something special about me, something that the other tgirls don't have, and that's quite uplifting! I mean, on Twitter, for example, there are tons of other tgirls who have done way more shoots than me, girls who have big time agents and are busy all the time with shoots.  I am not even like that at all. I'm just fucking around with a fun hobby and seeing what happens. And most of my tweets are just silly or quasi-philosophical observations or questions. I'm kind of a nerd.  I talk about reading books and history just as often as I post photos of my ass or nipples.  And still, I am amassing hundreds of followers weekly!  A friend told me recently "they don't care about you and anything else you do or think - they just wanna see you naked and getting fucked." I laughed and said "I beg to differ."  Although, seriously, of course they can see me naked and getting fucked, of course they want to see that, but - they could see anyone doing that.  My fans want to see me doing that.

Are there any web sites or future projects that you would like to promote? What are you currently working on film wise?

I have something in the works with a producer in Hollywood.  It's really exciting, but I don't want to jinx it by spilling all the details! It's going to be in the same vein as my recent set on Shemale Strokers: the sporty look. I am fit and fun and quirky, and I think those traits are becoming my calling card. There will be a cute little storyline that ends with me getting fucked by a guy. I had better stop. I'm getting excited just talking about it! My fans are going to love it.  All "sexy faces" aside, I promise you'll see me and think: "most fuckable."
