Extra's: My favorite extra was no the five bonus scenes from past Vivid releases (three of which starred Mercedez) but the 18.5 minute Behind the Scenes feature by Vic Alpine instead. It wasn't just the sex taking place but the ability to see some of the performers without their "porn face" on made it worthwhile to me. For the most part, it was very well done, if not the best I've seen from Vivid in recent months so give it a look it you get the chance. There was also a couple of photogalleries, a biography for Mercedez, a positions room, a double sided DVD cover, some trailers, and some of that lousy forced spam at the beginning of the DVD.

Audio/Video Quality: Coming On Set was presented in the same 1.33:1 ratio full frame color it was shot in by director Chi Chi LaRue for Vivid Entertainment. The picture had a fair amount of grain and some video noise, most likely due to the lighting levels and amount of material that was compressed onto the DVD but you could see all the action and even the shadows weren't too bad. The general composition of the shots showed some measure of care and the cast seemed to benefit by the manner in which the director shot the movie, regardless of the minor (though multiple) visual flaws. The stereo audio was presented in the usual stereo English with minimal separation, weak dynamic range, and droning music as expected. The cast was generally vocal enough and easily heard enough to work for me but I hope Vivid explores looking into losing the music or offering a second, music free, track in the future.

Body of Review: Chi Chi LaRue is one of those directors in porn that seems to give a show a woman's eye even though he was born as a man. Without getting into much detail, suffice it to say that it's common knowledge that he's more at home with a penis than a pussy but he still manages to showcase some decent porn. His latest effort was Coming On Set, a vignette flavored release that centered on Vivid contract performer Mercedez (the curvy cutie from Texas), as she introduced several scenes for the viewer's stroking pleasure. It wasn't the most stunning release I've seen of late but I'm a fan of the majority of the cast so you just know I had to see what some of them have been up to. That said, here's a look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that condoms were used to protect the health of the cast:

Scene One: Barbara's Big Screen Test: Barbara Summer, a blonde with a very pleasing body, began the scene wearing a slinky pink nightgown that hugged her curves nicely in the naturally lit room. Her partner for the scene was the studly Manuel Ferrara and the two spent a fair amount of time warming each other up by kissing, rubbing and otherwise attending to one another's needs. He then snacked on her crack (anal and vaginal) before she gave him a mechanical blowjob. They then screwed vaginally but for most of the action, she seemed less enthusiastic than I prefer. Thankfully, she eventually acted as though she liked his dick inside her but it probably wasn't the best way to start the movie if you catch my drift.

Scene Two: Cherokee's Nasty In A Bathroom: Cherokee, one of my favorite MILFs, began the next scene in a bathroom under repair with Rick Patrick. I haven't seen her in awhile I it's good to know she's still in porn since her high pitched voice, curvy little body, and winning smile have long attracted me to her (admittedly, it didn't hurt that she was so attentive at the AEE show a few years ago). In any case, he looked like he was twice her size (she's 4'11" and he's 6'6" or so) and the disparity was visually interesting to me as they both gave some tease footage for the other before doing the usual oral and vaginal route. In all, the sex was energetic and managed to show some chemistry between the two but I've long appreciated her perfect ass so I expected no less from the scene.

Scene Three: Mercedez's Three Way: Mercedez, the lead gal of the movie (pictured on the front DVD cover on the left hand side with brunette hair), were joined by the lovely duo of Stephanie Swift and Katsumi in the next scene. Initially, she talked them into giving her (Mercedez) a show as they engaged in some heated lesbian action on a couch). They licked, rubbed and massaged one another on the weirdly lit set and while Katsumi was a bit less active than usual, Stephanie was more into it than many of her previous performances as a Wicked Pictures contract star. They used toys too but the highlight for me was easily when they masturbated side by side on the couch in plain view.

Scene Four: TJ Hart Does Anal: TJ Hart, another gal I thought had left porn a few years ago, was up next on a bed sporting a mane of dark red hair as her partner, Jean Val Jean, rubbed himself. Whether or not it was a wig didn't really matter to me as I've long appreciated TJ for her teasing manner (when she wasn't playing an ice queen) and this scene showed she still had plenty of mileage left in her given the solid oral she gave him; even rimming him for full effect. The two then screwed vaginally before the anal with her really pumping away as if on fire at times. I liked that she kept on her black lingerie and would've liked it if she were more vocal but the scene managed to get me hard from the very beginning and leave me wanting to stop reviewing for about two pumps (being a two pump chump is a curse I'm afraid). She wasn't as active during the anal but I think she was at least as good as some of the new gals in porn half her age and I hope to see more of her in the future.

Scene Five: Mercedez's Big Finale: Mercedez, looking very good indeed, Nicole Sheridan, a lovely and curvy blonde, Julian and Voodoo, were up last in a bedroom scene that began with the gals kissing but quickly moved onto the guys joining them as the quartet partnered up as expected. Nicole looked especially fine in her black lingerie and was the better of the two sexually but that was almost a given considering her vocals, sexual skill, and willingness to become one with her partner. It was vaginal and oral only but I still liked it enough to watch it more than one time.

Summary: Coming On Set was a middle of the road porno for most fans but I like several of the cast enough that I bumped up my rating up to Recommended for general principles. The sex wasn't designed to appeal to the circus act crowd and if you want that kind of thing, email me and I'll help you find whatever niche you need, but the bottom line is that the scenes were well done and if only the DVD mastering had been better, I think it would've made more of you happy. In short, Coming On Set was made for the couples crowd that can appreciate some of the less explicit sex porn has to offer with some of the best performers you'll find in porn today.
