Extra's: The two best extras from a consumer's standpoint would be the 11.5 minute long featurette of Private at Cannes 1999 and the 13.5 minute long featurette of Private at Cannes 2002. Each gave some highlights of Private's presentation at the film festival and included a lot of sexual moments or nudity. There was also a slide show but the best extra for reviewers was the scene breakdowns that covered all but one of the scenes from the movie. There was also a photogallery and a double disc DVD case with pictures and a cardboard slip cover.

Audio/Video Quality: Private 40th Anniversary: Ultimate Anthology Set was presented with a number of different aspect ratios from the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame to the 1.78:1 ratio widescreen used on some of Private's bigger budget releases. Some of the older source material might've looked a bit weak but most of the time; the scenes looked very good within the context of their production. The colors were typically accurate, the lighting pretty good or better and the composition of the shots was almost always interesting if not done in a manner to enhance the looks of the gals. I saw a few compression artifacts and some grain but this is to be expected of such a compilation. The stereo audio was equally diverse in terms of sheer quality since a number of the scenes had bad dubbing or limited separation between the channels of the audio tracks but most fans of Private know what to expect.
Body of Review: I've long suspected that some companies know how to do certain aspects of marketing better than others and this seems to be the case with Private. Most companies offering compilations these days either edit the scenes, string together scenes that simply don't fit well with one another, or otherwise screw the pooch when it comes to making them. Well, the latest from Private, Private 40th Anniversary: Ultimate Anthology Set 1965- 2005 (Best of Private 67), was certainly a mixed batch with something for almost everyone to enjoy but some serious limitations due to the age of the elements used in the 2 disc set. I thought the amount of fuck for the buck was very solid though and here's a list of the scenes for you to more fully appreciate what went into the set:

Summary: Private 40th Anniversary: Ultimate Anthology Set was worth a rating of Recommended from me for the volume of scenes, the low cost, the number of hot looking gals in the scenes, and the number of scenes that showed some decent levels of heat. I'd have rated it higher but for my tastes, there would have been a vastly different set of scenes and few of the older ones here would have made the cut due to technical limitations. For the most part, the action offered a lot of extreme sex with anal and DP's pretty standard, but fans of the company will know how mechanical the action can get in such scenes too. Give it a look since it had some solid replay and good fuck for the buck but don't expect any new material you can't find elsewhere.
