Extra's: As always, the only extras were the usual photogallery and trailers to movies like Teagan: All American Girl, Devon: Decadence, Teen America 5, Devon: Erotique, Teagan: Erotique, Contract Star, Story of J, Sex in the Valley, Teen America, No Limits, Rush, Virtual Sex with Jesse Jane, Erotique, Jack's Playground, The Hitman, Beat The Devil, but also an interesting 6.5 minute montage for the Jack's Playground series that even quoted me, although it credited me as being from Adult DVD Empire (not a bad thing) and used my most negative comment from my dozen or so reviews of the series (proving that Digital Playground has a sense of humor).

Audio/Video Quality: Jack's Playground 23: Nick P. Gets Snippy! was presented in anamorphic widescreen 1.85:1 ratio color. The colors were sometimes a bit too saturated but aside from some minor grain and video noise, the show looked pretty good and never distracted from the sex taking place. The audio was presented in 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround English but the use of the audio format was not really great since most of the sound came from the center channel. While this comes as no surprise, especially since the budget of most porn movies is so small, Digital Playground is world-renowned for being on the leading edge of technology and a number of fans, me included, appreciate their efforts.

Body of Review: If there's a company in porn with a better idea of who their audience is than Digital Playground, I doubt I've met it's representatives at any of the trade shows I've attended. Firmly in the couples market with some occasional edgy material for good measure, the company's directors all seem to fit a niche of the large market in question. Their latest release is Jack's Playground 23: Nick P. Gets Snippy! by director Robby D., a man who always seems willing to try something new, with admittedly mixed results. A far cry from his days as a Vivid contract slave director, Robby told me his approach with the series was to stray from the formulaic porn so many of us are used to these days. That's why you usually see a couple of solo (masturbation) scenes in the various volumes of the show as well as some humorous moments to lighten up the mood a bit. Like Jack's Playground 22, the concept wasn't pushed to the limits this time, and the additional part of the title ("Nick P. Gets Snippy!") wasn't addressed at all in terms of the humor but it could've been milked for some funny bits. If you like comedic porn though, there was enough to like outside of the sex to give it some replay value, so here's a look at the action by the scenes:

Scene One: Smokie Flame, a gal that looked like your typical junior college coed with brownish hair, some blemishes, and a mostly lean body in need of some exercise, was up first with weird looking Tony T. as they auditioned for "Jack" to get some work. Tony was forced to do most of the work, from the oral to the boning, and that lowered the heat for me but I know it works really well for some of you out there (preferring gals that don't "look" like porn stars). She had pretty eyes and initially wore a very tiny skirt that didn't even half cover her swaying ass cheeks but that was discarded pretty quickly as the action began. The sex was oral with a straight screw afterwards and lacked the chemistry and energy I prefer to watch.

Scene Two: Naudia Nyce, a gal that looks like a younger version of Belladonna as she wiggled her ass like a champion, had the following scene with foreign born stud, Pascal St. James, on a bed. He went down on her after her limited tease footage, and she reciprocated with a solid blowjob to get him ready for some heated action. Her vaginal action was okay but she seemed more at home with his large penis in her tight ass (and he was pounding away at it too!). I liked her dirty talk here even if she wasn't as active in the anal as I've seen her before. He restricted her movement so it wasn't all her fault but it could've been better. It ended with him pulling out and dropping a load on her face and mouth as she jerked him off.

Scene Three: Montana Rae, the extremely cute blonde on the right hand side of the front DVD cover, was up next as she hung out on the windowsill of the apartments while studly Tommy Gunn, gawked at her. Her skimpy top and torn jeans worked wonders for enhancing her body but the abrupt manner in which she was on his cock made me think someone missed a comedy edit (it didn't have the usual sound effects or cut picture special effect as virtually all the other scenes in the series have had). She orally worked him over with some measure of talent but I would've preferred she look at him instead of the camera since the idea of a blowjob is to be turning on the guy you're doing at the moment. She did use her hand to increase the friction and she was lovingly handling his family jewels but other than her playful manner, the scene wasn't as great as it could've been. Otherwise, she pumped up and down on him in a passionate manner designed to milk the nuts of all involved (be it the audience or Tommy) and I enjoyed watching it a couple of times (so far).

Scene Four: Jenaveve Jolie, the brunette hotty on the left hand side of the front DVD cover, was up next as the birthday girl got a strip tease dance from a portly (and slightly effeminate) Joey Ray. Celeste goofed on his belly and she and Robby (as "Jack") argued like they were a real life couple (which they are if you believe the gossip websites), only to return to find Joey going down on naked Jenaveve. Her oral was the best of the movie as she concentrated on his pole with a flair few could stand for long. Using her hand and eyes to assist in the load milking, she made me forget about her huge tattoos as she inhaled often, and deeply, on his meat pipe. This was another passionate scene as she road him hard and wet, bouncing on his lap as though she were on the bonus plan with Digital Playground. I may not care for her implants but that perfect ass, those alluring eyes and pretty face, and sexual skill all made her a tough act to follow. Yum!

Scene Five: Venus, a gal with a mixed resume of scenes by my standards, was up next with Pascal St. James on a bed instead of the solo scene it was supposed to be. This was one of her better scenes and I'm glad the release picked up steam towards the middle of the show since I've been a fan of the series for a long time (finding a few volumes less than appealing; typically due to the short running time more than anything else). Her oral was well done and she aggressively pumped back when he was inside of her, making the action a nice way to end the scene. It ended when she jerked out a huge load with both her hands (it took both of them to wrap around his penis) but she didn't do a facial or swallow so the scene was only very good.

Summary: Jack's Playground 23: Nick P. Gets Snippy! was a volume that I felt comfortable giving a rating of Recommended to for all its limitations (not to mention the extremely weak running time). I know Robby churns these out at the rate of about one a month, but having spoken with him at length in person, I'm sure he could come up with enough comedy to flesh out the time or enough sex footage to allow the scenes to last longer, to make this a better value series. The gals all appealed to some aspect of my psyche; from the fresh new gals to the established professional nut milkers, and Robby's direction enhanced their looks well enough to appreciate that too. I could've used less of Joey Ray tasting his own semen (maybe previous pokes at his sexuality were more than jokes…) and better extras but it was fun to watch with some nice replay value.
