Extras: My favorite extra was the 55.5 minute long Behind the Scenes feature (that's right; nearly an hour!) since it included a lot of time with the performers having sex, walking around nude, and telling Jordan and his female assistant all kinds of things. There were no dramas like other BTS features elsewhere have had, just a good time by all. There was a photogallery, a cumshot compilation from the scenes, and trailers to movies like Absolute Ass 1, F-ing Teens, Cream Filled 1, and Absolute Ass 5, as well as a cardboard protective sleeve.

Audio/Video Quality: Great Big Asses was presented in the usual 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as originally shot by director Jordan Septo for release by Venom Digital Media, a subsidiary of Exquisite Multimedia. The lighting was solid in every scene here; one of the benefits of shooting in a vanilla location of a couch in a room. This meant he could control the levels of grain and video noise, banishing them as a result. I know some folks prefer having to guess which hole is being plundered in a gonzo shoot but I'm not one of them so kudos for a job well done. The composition of the shots was virtually always favorable to the ladies too, focusing on their strengths rather than minor flaws in most cases, and that added some measure of fun to the scenes here. The DVD was mastered well enough and I thought the visual elements worked very nicely generally speaking. The 2.0 Dolby Digital stereo audio was in English, and the vocals were easily heard by the cast in the movie (though some touching up in the BTS might've been a good idea). The music wasn't a factor here and the background noises were rare here, keeping the focus on the show at large.

Body of Review: Jordan Septo is sometimes referred to as one of the best names in porn that you've never heard about. Let's face it, he keeps a low profile and doesn't have a host of publicists hawking him at every opportunity, primarily because he enjoys letting his work speak for itself. In the long run, I think this approach will serve him well though I sometimes think it'd be nice to see his skill appreciated given how well he tends to shoot straightforward porn (if you're looking for special effects like slow motion, smoke & mirrors, and glamour; he's not your man but if you enjoy well lit gonzo porn and an appreciation of the female form on the same level as John Stagliano, he's your man). His latest release on DVD is a fine movie about my favorite subject, Great Big Asses, starring some of the best talent in the industry (had there been one more scene starring Tiffany Mynx; it would've been unbeatable in that sense). Without going into too much detail, here's a breakdown of the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Flower Tucci, one of the all time best anal queens in the porn business, newcomer Georgia Peach, and the massive Lee Stone, were up first on the couch to open up the movie. Flower wore a fishnet body stocking and looked to be in fine form while Georgia wore a red fishnet outfit that enhanced her form nicely too. The gals engaged in some playful lesbian antics at the request of Jordan (though he really didn't have to coax them too much) but Lee was ready to rip into those fleshy cheeks with his tongue and dick too. Scene Two: Sandra Romain, a well known brunette in a camouflage bikini, was up next on a couch with Talon. While she may not be as attractive in the face as some in porn, she is generally leaner, and more sexually talented than all but a handful of her peers so her inclusion in the movie is another good sign that Jordan wanted a great flick. She masturbated as though she were actually getting off, providing a nice opener to her scene as she teased to please with Jordan claiming he didn't have to do a thing to encourage her. Whether she's just a great sexual performer or simply comes by her craft naturally is a question for philosopher's to answer but fans of anal sex will be stroking out their first loads well before any meat enters the picture. He told me at the 2006 AEE Show that this would be something special (and I swear he had me in mind when he picked this cast!) and as much as I respect his work, I know trade show hype when I hear it (or so I thought!). The ladies were in great form, the sheer heat levels of these anal beauties scorching the screen repeatedly, and the extras, particularly the lengthy BTS (with that sexy voiced female pal of Jordan's coaxing out some nice comments by the cast), added some of the best replay value I've seen all year. A lot of care went into this one and what I originally took for hype was completely justified by the time the final scene finished up (if not far sooner). With such great fuck for the buck, I thought the DVD was worth at least a rating of Highly Recommended, as much a tribute to the excellent cast as the skills of the man behind the camera. If you like anal sex as much as most people into porn do these days, you'd be remiss if you skipped this one in favor of some generic flavor of the week release by a bigger company.
