Extra's: The best extra was the 10.5 minutes of Behind the Scenes footage from Skeeter Kerkove; one of the cameramen on the movie. I would have preferred it if all the ladies had more of a chance to shine during the feature but it was a nice taste of bloopers more than anything. There was also a cumshot recap, a set of eight trailers, a photogallery, a bit of spam, and a double sided DVD cover.

Audio/Video Quality: XXX Pin-Ups 1 was presented in a 1.85:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color that looked very nice in most ways as directed by Otto Bauer for release by Mach 2/Supercore. In his favor, Otto wisely used the substantial talents of Jim Powers and Skeeter Kerkove on cameras and assisting with the other technical matters so with that kind of wealth of technical knowledge helping him, it really shouldn't be a surprise that the fleshtones looked accurate, the composition of the camera angles enhanced the looks of the cast, and the amount of grain and video noise was minimal (Skeeter also took care of lighting from what I understand). I had recently inquired as to what happened to Skeeter as I missed his movies (the guy does a fine job directing) so I'm glad he has found a way to continue to make movies of reasonably decent caliper. I saw no compression artifacts either and this led me to think the DVD mastering was well handled too. The audio was presented in the usual 2.0 Dolby Digital English with no separation worth mentioning on the vocal aspects of the movie but the music was pretty darned good even if a few more lines might've helped keep it from sounding repetitive.

Body of Review: Mach 2 is one of the new gonzo producers of porn on the block so I gladly picked up a couple of screeners from them the other day in hopes of seeing what they had to offer. Upon reading their website, I found a number of names that I have long associated with quality porn so I felt that my chances for finding a new source of good titles had increased substantially (too many new guys seem to be in porn for a quick buck; a less likely scenario in these days of tightened budgets and lower sales). The first movie from the company was XXX Pin-Ups 1, a series of gonzo scenes directed by veteran performer Otto Bauer. While there were some rough edges in need of polishing up, the movie was well worth checking out, especially thanks to the assistance of industry veterans Jim Powers and Skeeter Kerkove. Here's a look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Nyomi Zen, the lean Asian gal on the right hand side of the front DVD cover in red lingerie, was up first as she nursed a beer bottle on a red couch before taking on Otto Bauer. Without providing something of merit that the other guys don't have, that means you either need to compete on price, quality of talent, or an overall vision. It was funny that when I first opened the DVD case, I thought the DVD was signed by the cast and thought that this was a nice touch for a company to provide (it never hurts to be nice to reviewers) though upon closer inspection, all the magic marker wording said was "screener copy not for sale". Regardless, Mach 2 is starting off on a good foot with me for the quality of the movie in hand, earning a rating of Recommended for XXX Pin-Ups 1. If their other titles are as good as this, it won't be long before they become a name to be reckoned with. Good job!
