Extra's: Like most of the Shane's World releases of late, there were some good extras with my favorite being the 13.5 minutes of Behind the Scenes footage. The cast and crew were having a lot of fun and I enjoyed watching it twice (as always; once before and once while writing this review). Extra sex, nudity, and some of the mini-dramas were all covered here nicely, making it enhance the value of the DVD. I also liked the 18.5 minutes worth of lost footage where the cast had even MORE sex to enjoy, admittedly with some rough edges to the editing that made the rest of the movie look professional and polished by comparison. There was a photogallery, and trailers to shows like Guide To Anal Sex, Girls Night Out 1, Girls Night Out 2, Shane's World 37, Shane's World 36, Shane's World, and Shane's World: Nerdz as well.

Audio/Video Quality: Devinn Lane's Swingers was presented in the same 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as shot by for release by Devinn Lane for Shane's World. The title was supposed to look like it was shot by an amateur; something like the Girls Gone Wild series, and it did in virtually all scenes. The lighting would wash out the fleshtones, the camera would lose focus, and the composition of the shots would look like a drunken monkey filmed it but the raw energy of the show remained intact. This is much like many of the other releases by the company but all kidding aside, the quality of the technical values isn't the major factor most people use when deciding to buy a movie from Shane's World; it's the kind of nervous energy and fun; both of which were here in spades. The 2.0 Dolby Digital English audio was decent but I didn't notice a lot of separation between the channels (the center channel provided pretty much all of the sound on my home theatre and my headphones didn't provide a markedly different experience either) and the dynamic range was about average for the series. The technical values in general were decent but a bit more work might help them even more in the future.

Body of Review: Shane's World has long been one of my favorite series to enjoy because the way the scenes often seem less scripted, more spontaneous, and full of the kind of energy that so-called mainstream porn often lacks. Sure, the company hires some of the cuter, younger performers in the industry to help jump start the proceedings and sure, they rely on a specific market niche to cater to but all in all; you'd be hard pressed to say that anything approaching the titles the company releases exists in the current crop of competitors (though the older Seymore Butts titles of ten years or more ago might come close). Their recent release of Devinn Lane's Swingers, one of the few titles she shot for them before parting ways earlier this year, is the latest flick in my sweaty little palms and after not seeing any of their stuff in too long a time (I really wanted a few of their other titles too), I got my fix as the crew came to Texas for some fun at a swingers club in Dallas. Here's what the cover said: "We sent Devinn and her crew to Dallas to party with a wild group of swingers. Wow- the trip was non-stop sex! Jack hooked up with a hot milf, during the mini orgy Sunny played with Blaze and then banged her husband, a swinger couple had sex while everyone watched and that's just the start. This movie is over 2 and ½ hours of non-stop fun so if you've ever wondered about the wild world of swingers then here is your chance to taste the lifestyle."

One of the first things I noticed about the movie was how little set up there was. This was in marked contrast to most of the series released by the company of late and the background music played on as the first mini-orgy took place. The amateur partners were as sexually adventurous as the professionals; even showing the first guy to get his ass fingered like his name was Kurt and be spanked with a belt (and another guy's hand). The majority of sexual relations in the movie involved the use of the swinger crowd, another change I liked seeing, and some of them were attractive, especially if you like older women that were less threatening looking than the professional hotties and guys with modest sized peckers.

There was a lot of lesbian action, a lot of firsts in the scenes (especially for the amateurs), and a mixture of action that eschewed formulas in favor of just capturing whatever seemed right. I know I wouldn't want to see this kind of thing all the time, especially since I'm a fan of Sunny's and wanted to see more of her, but the pool scene, the random nature of the sex, and so much more added an element of surprise that the Shane's Worldmovies really have been light on lately. Now that they've left their affiliation with New Sensations, I hope they explore new territory in this regard but I also hope they continue to use hotties like director Penny Flame in scenes too since her form of movie also appeals consistently to me too.

The sex aside, and there was a lot of it taking place in the nine full scenes, the humor aspect of the movie was pretty good too. One of my favorite parts of the movie was seeing Devinn wake everyone up about an hour into the movie at the hotel. The cast was tired from partying all night and her being a morning person, they were not in the mood for her. They weren't all in make up, looking more average than several of the swingers, and it added something to the show just like seeing Devinn at her current size (while not as huge a porker as some would leave you to believe, she was definitely not at her peak in terms of weight) was interesting. I'd like to have seen the amateur parts taken a couple of steps further; the swingers going at it with the professional crew shooting them as a change of pace being one thing worth trying, but in all, it was a decidedly fun show from the people at Shane's World and I can't deny that while it wasn't the best release I've seen from them (the editing sucked for the most part but that could have been due to the raw footage provided too), I thought it was worth a rating of Recommended.

Summary: Devinn Lane's Swingers proved that Devinn Lane could be a decent director, regardless of the comments made off the record by those in the industry, but this movie was well in line with the other quality titles from the Shane's World catalog. If you're looking to see the pretty, plastic people of porn valley engaging in formulaic sex on the same old splooged-infested couch with flat lighting, a list of sexual circus acts, and all the usual conventions of porn, Devinn Lane's Swingers will be as exciting to you as watching Ed Power's is to me but if you want something slightly more daring with the kind of raw energy the company is known for, you'll see why I liked it so much that my hands kept busy more often than not. The decent extras, the scenes with cutie Sunny Lane, and the amount of fuck for the buck elevated this one's value for me but the same could be said of most the titles from the company so check this one out too.
