Extra's: There were a number of solid extras on the DVD with my favorite being the 14.5 minute long Behind the Scenes feature. There was extra footage of the cast, more sex, a few funny bits, and some photoshoots. Most of you will appreciate the five unrelated bonus scenes (I outlined three of them below); $2 Bill starring Lanny Barby & Evan Stone; Blue Collar, starring Lacie Heart, Jerry, and Ben English; Lacie's Life starring Lacie Heart and James Deen; Groupie starring Tawny Roberts and Evan Stone; and Star, starring Stefani Morgan and Trent Tesoro. There were interesting trailers to movies like Emperor, Sexy Young Thing, Open Set, a text biography for Monique Alexander, a few photogalleries, some spam, a positions room, and a true double sided DVD cover. Given the length of the movie itself, this was a pretty solid set of extras that most of you will enjoy.

Audio/Video Quality: Dinner Party was presented in 1.85:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color as shot in HD by director Paul Thomas for release by Vivid Entertainment. The lighting was generally decent in all but one of the scenes and that helped minimize the grain and video noise but the camera work was somewhat inconsistent in terms of how well the grain levels were handled. The lighting was also a bit spotty (shooting in front of a window in scene one, for example, sure didn't help when the fleshtones were washed out) but there was some attention paid to framing the shots better than usual to help make it average out okay. The editing was well done as it helped cut this down to a minimum but there was little doubt that someone wasn't paying enough attention again. The composition of the shots was decent in how it enhanced the look of the ladies, who all looked fine to begin with, but the backgrounds were not compensated for in many cases. The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital English stereo with minimal separation and guerilla porn shoot amount of dynamic range. The vocals were always dominant and the generic music not too offensive but the ladies could have employed more dirty talk in my opinion.

Body of Review: Paul Thomas has been involved in porn for so long that these days he seems intent on finding something new to interest him. Well, with all the reality shows making waves on television, the trend in porn has been to provide similar experiences in porn flicks (one of the most recent, and successful, attempts at this being Vivid's own Chemistry) so it makes sense that Paul tried his hand at the sub-genre again with a little flick called Dinner Party. The idea was to sit a group of porn stars together to discuss their experiences in the industry while sex scenes punctuating the talking parts. The box cover said it like this: "Shot on high definition anamorphic 16x9 widescreen. 4 big courses. Your entree to sex! My Dinner With Andre it's not. Unless Andre had a pussy and was horny as hell! It's Paul Thomas' eat and suck extravaganza, "Dinner Party", with the most succulent morsels in porn, led by that little spinner Monique, whose ass you could fit in a teacup! Lots of sex. A butt buffet. And not a lazy Susan in the bunch. Clams anyone?" That said, here's a look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that the only condoms used were by Monique in her scenes:

Scene One: Monique Alexander, the hotty blonde on the front DVD cover, was up first with Derrick Pierce, after they left the dinner party to get better acquainted. They went to the master bathroom and she teased with her fine body as she slowly disrobed to reveal why so many people want to get to know her better. Her oral skills were pretty good here and she slowly slobbed his knob before he went down on her but it was the vaginal ride that most appealed to me. She took awhile to warm up to his condom clad cock but once she was on top of him, she rode as actively as I've seen her do while at Vivid. Scene Seven: Monique Alexander, still looking very appealing, was up with Steven St. Croix by the piano in the last scene. The action so far had been okay but not really high in replay value so I was hoping for something a bit more strokable here. It started off with them kissing and feeling each other up; making it more of a couples scene than anything else but it was still warmish in how they seemed to like working with each other. As an aging lothario (his main topic at the dinner table was about a movie made when she was probably 10 years old), he needs to rely more on his ability to do whatever is required than most of the studier men favored by the ladies so he spent considerable time going down on her before she blew him. Neither seemed in top form to me with the vaginal riding being decent but far too short for a scene starring one of the hotty contract starlets at Vivid. At least she gave an active ride when on top of him but that was limited since most of the positions were male dominant to the point where she couldn't display her skills all that well. The point of this scene was to establish Evan (as the lead singer of the group) as the kind of down and dirty type to win the bet. Summary: Dinner Party was a smaller effort for director Paul Thomas than his recent blockbuster you might have heard of (Emperor) but it did have a nice mix of ladies and an interesting concept. For me though, Dinner Party never really satisfied on either level-as the plotted porn reality show or the sexual antics that seemed too fraught with limitations-so I really couldn't give it anything higher than a rating of Rent It. The technical values were in need of polishing up, the extras were often kind of generic, and while the cast had potential, they rarely lived up to it on the levels that I've seen most of them. If you're a fan of Monique though, her first scene in the movie was definitely worth checking out all on it's own so give it a look.
