Extra's: For me, the best extra was the Director's Audio Commentary as it allowed Jim Holliday, in his own words, give his version of life in the porn universe. This included a lot of trivia and anecdotes about what took place on the set of the movie, his views on some of the stupid people in and around the industry, and some of the things he tries to offer as a means of giving fans what they have repeatedly asked for (showing that he likes to cater to fans, except when they go for the circus act sex stuff; the man showing a complete distain for the gonzo style that has since taken over the industry). He was joined by the lovely Sydnee Steele, a lady that has held her own in numerous commentaries at Wicked Pickeds over the yeas, and Allysin Chaynes, who probably had the least of all to say during the track. There was also a 13.5 minutes Behind the Scenes feature that included some cast members not in the movie, largely because Jim was shooting more then one flick at a time here; the primary focus of the track being Women In Control; review forthcoming. It did allow the ladies to give a quick shout and provide short informational interviews while in various states of undress though so I'm not complaining. There were also some minimal Star Bios, a trailers for Eye Candy Refocused, Timeless, a photogallery, a bit on the multiple angles used, and a jump to the scene bit too.

Audio/Video Quality: Paradise Hole: Director's Long Cut was presented in the originally filmed 1.33:1 ratio full frame color as shot by director Jim Holliday for VCA Pictures back in February 2000 (filmed at the same time as Women In Control). The picture was crystal clear and had a wonderfully diverse cast as seen on the front DVD cover. The fleshtones were accurate thanks in large part to the flat and plentiful lighting, eliminating grain and other visual defects in a manner I wish contemporary companies would at least consider. This was another one of the early Holliday flicks that made great strides to cleaning up the picture and camerawork substantially and should be recognized as such. The audio was presented in the usual Dolby Digital stereo English but the vocals appeared to be looped in a few cases, the dialogue slightly wooden at times, and it sounded hollow less frequently than previous volumes in the series. The music was trademark Jim Holliday style with a twist as Scott Reno & the Vancouvers/Reno & the Rumrunners sat this one out to allow Ed Monton and the Alberta Renegades (an insider joke since Scott Reno and Cal Gary comprise the largest part of both bands) handle the majority of the score with Evan Stone and the ZZyzx Roadhouse band and the Ghosts of Curtis Springer Choir take on the leading theme song.

Body of Review: Jim Holliday was one of the few guys in porn to listen to what he considered his core audience and alter what he provided on screen as a result. At the time, this was unheard of as most of the directors seemed to take the egotistical route and do their own thing. It was no surprise then that VCA Pictures sold a lot of his titles, enough to keep them off his back (largely anyway). One of my favorite movies from the past of his was Paradise Hole: Director's Long Cut; as much for the sex as it was one of his first VCA releases with a full audio commentary where Jim could sort of connect with his fans, including me (however vicariously). The plot of the story was a spoof on the televangelists that populate TV (the ones that act all stupid trying to sucker lots of people into sending money to buy their way into Heaven). It was light and fluffy as always but still served to make some pointed comments with Even Stone playing his role all too perfectly. The cover said it like this: "Ponder Eternity...but avoid the Paradise Hole. Enter the world of television evangelists cautiously and carefully. Know that they rank right at the top of the Hypocrite /Fraud /Pretender scale. Far too many are laughing all the way to the bank. Ace reporter Frank Ridgeway is sent undercover to case the Twilight Tabernacle Television Network and becomes a participant. With this triple entendre title, Jim Holliday has created a brand new genre in movie making - "Fun & Fluff Film Noir." You may laugh your ass off, you may stare in disgust, you may think Jim is going straight to Hell or Heaven (which are deliberately never mentioned in the movie)...just remember..there is not a lame fuck scene to be found...and it is most definitely "noir." Typically hot Holliday core, but the subject matter is a daring departure..." If you like Jim's movies or want to see a cute take on the religious shysters (not religion) that are all too common, you're going to like this one a whole lot. That said, here's a quick look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that condoms were used:

Scene One: Tiffany Mynx, the mega-hotty back when she had blonde hair but still sported that fine body, was up first as she sucked the dick of Van Damage in bed. I decided to rate this one as Recommended since Paradise Hole: Director's Long Cut will appeal more to fans of Jim's then the general masses but while the sex often left me wanting more from the ladies, it had some serious stroke, replay, and fuck for the buck value that most anyone should appreciate.
