Extra's: The best extra by far was the 21 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Voodoo; a man known best for his work as a meat puppet in front of the camera (though he's been working behind the camera at Shane's World too with some great results). The feature gave much of the cast and a few of the crew a spotlight to play around and have some fun. There wasn't a bunch of extra sex going on but it added some value to the show nonetheless. There was a photogallery, some spam, banner advertisements, and a commercial from Goflix in addition to trailers for shows like My Secret Life, Power Lines, Terrible Teens. The cover was truly double sided and the cardboard slipcase was fetching too.

Audio/Video Quality: Taboo 22 was presented in a non-anamorphic widescreen 1.85:1 (letterboxed) color as shot by director DCypher for release under the Cal Vista label by Metro Interactive. Shot in "Hi-Def", the movie actually looked very crisp and clear in terms of the picture for some of the scenes while others were shot with an artistic frame of mind. The fleshtones were accurate and the level of detail provided was quite high for a Metro release but it wasn't substantially different than most mid range porn offered these days. The composition of the shots tended to favor the ladies, showing marked improvement from his last movie. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English offering, not the surround sound bandied about online, and for the most part, it provided a standard porn experience. The vocals were easy to hear and the music was pretty limited this time, sounding hazy and understated as well as generic as could be. I would have preferred it to have some personality but it seemed almost as an afterthought to me, along with several of the scenes.

Body of Review: DCypher is the latest director at Club Jenna but his work at Metro Interactive provided a lot of industry buzz in terms of his artistic license. For the most part, I prefer his straightforward works like My Secret Life though I know some of you passionately disagree. One of his last titles shot for Metro was Taboo 22, a movie about a futuristic sexual freedom fighter caught up in an attempt by the state to reveal her secrets. As a political allegory, it lacked in most ways and the sex was typically mechanical to me but there was some fun to be had as well. The cover put it like this: "Welcome to a world where desire is forbidden and sex itself becomes the ultimate taboo. Julia (Ava Rose) uses sex to liberate the masses and usher in a new era of sexual freedom. Total abandon leads to a bounty of pleasure... but is it too much? Take an erotic journey into the darkest of fantasies. Taboo 22 the future is now revealed by director DCypher." If you're still interested, here's a quick look at the scenes, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Ava Rose, the gothic looking brunette on the front DVD cover, and curvy babe Brooke Haven, were up first in a lesbian scene in a bed at night. The marked contrast in looks between them were interesting but each seemed as sexually athletic as the other and I got the impression that they were having at least a little bit of fun. The majority of the scene was oral and toy use with liberal doses of over acting with regard to the amount of pleasure they were having but it still provided a bit of stroke value.

Scene Two: Ava Rose, all oiled up and wearing a spiked leather collar with matching accessories, was up next as the play toy to a horde of war machine employees in a munitions factory. The men were Justin Snyder, Dominic, Rick Masters, and Jay Ashley; each ravaging her body with a blowbang and active vaginal penetration as part of her experimental treatment by members of the government. The men might be third (or fourth) tier mope squad members but that seemed to work for the low rent manner in which she was suggested as living for. They would bark orders and she would defy them, claiming that she would do what she wanted, when she wanted to do it. Thematically, it fit with the movie but the playfulness of the scene betrayed the story in my opinion. It ended when they rubbed out their loads of population pudding to her face, coating her thoroughly.

Scene Three: Celeste Starr, Charlie Laine, August, Carli Banks, and Nevaeh, had a relatively short lesbian tryst on a small love seat while being watched by Herschel and Ava; sticking largely to a licking, fingering, and vibrator use. It progressed to the following scene but the sex had been so mechanical that I really couldn't get into it.

Scene Four: Faith Leon, a gal with the most beautiful eyes of the cast, curvy August, and eventually Herschel Savage, were up next as Ava watched them in the same living room setting they were in for the last scene. The two ladies were performing with each other until the scene abruptly jumped to them sharing his cock orally, kissing intermittently as they worked over his meat pipe with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. August took the majority of pussy pounding action, in a slow motion haze that lowered the abundant heat but offered up a lot of PTOGM. Faith was rubbed raw in no time and the ending facial was small but shared by the ladies as they knelt before him.

Scene Five: Brooke Haven, still looking fantastic, was up last with the other spotted dick wonder of the movie, Van Damage as Ava laid strapped to a medical gurney and watched. The camera was too intrusive this time, going too close to reveal much of Brooke's body language but she was still a world class suck & fuck ride. He ate her out too but I was most interested in seeing how her already raw pussy was going to take the modest member of Mr. Damage. It wasn't her best scene of the month but I like her enough that it kept the rating from diving to the lowest category, eventually causing a mouth pop of moderate quality.

Summary: Taboo 22 by director DCypher for release under the Cal Vista label by Metro Interactive left me hanging more than a few times in terms of slightly appealing to my libido but never completely delivering the goods. The ladies were a really physically attractive group, Devan is a capable director, and the raw energy of the scenes sometimes transcended the limitations of the minimal story but even on a generous day, it only warranted a rating of Rent It. In short, Taboo 22 had some promise but was too short, too limited, and too lacking to truly work for a jaded old porn hound like myself so adjust your personal ratings accordingly but keep in mind that the lesbian leaning of the movie and truncated scenes did seem wasteful.
