Extra's: My favorite extra was the 8.5 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by William Default and Jamal Johnson (with the assistance of Max "Maestro" Massimo). I know that Robby "Captain Cock" D. has never liked providing such a feature since they "ruin the atmosphere" or something like that but the recent change in attitude towards offering them really adds some value for fans. Audio/Video Quality: Jesse Jane: Image was presented in the same 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen color it was shot in by director Robby D. to be released by Digital Playground later this month. In terms of lighting and picture quality, the movie was looking a bit less refined than most of the recent work shot for the company in 720p HD; with the scenes all being distinctively captured in varying styles that again reminded me of the Celeste style Robbie records at times. There was again an even more conscious effort to tone down the Celeste style though and bring in vocals as well as more straightforward gonzo standards; a pleasing compromise for those of us that prefer the edgier stuff but appreciate the softer material at times too. This was another stylish romp of Robby's that mixed the artistic side of his talent with the gonzo most fans prefer, using Scott K. on camera this time, showing a decent amount of skill as he captured visuals in line with what Robby has been providing of late. There was no grain or video noise observed, I saw no compression artifacts, and the composition of the scenes was such that all the gals were made to look fantastic. The fleshtones were not as accurate as pure gonzo but given the sexual dynamics in play here, I doubt anyone will care as the textured visuals offered something different to appreciate. It was presented in a 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround track and had some decent separation and dynamic range, with the various selections providing a nice aural setting for the visuals in the large mansion it was shot in. The other good thing about this one was that vocals were employed along with the music, elevating the levels of perceived chemistry for me. The music was pretty solid in most cases too, providing the variety needed to give the scenes some extra replay value. The music was credited to the editor, Nick "The Wiz" P., but the pieces sounded like he was trying for something different and couldn't quite make it work the way it should have. I was appreciative that the vocals, however hollow, could be heard over the music but it went too far to the Celeste way of doing things for my liking and the appeal suffered for it.

Body of Review: Robby D. is no stranger to awards, even securing a few top spots on our recent 2006's Top Porn List for 2006 so it comes as no surprise that he is always looking for ways to expand what he does rather than fall into a rut like many of his peers seem to do. The flip side of this experimentation is that not all projects work out as well, at least for those of us that care about his work, with his supporters at Digital Playground always willing to finance his attempts at boldly trying new things. His upcoming title for them called Jesse Jane: Image (to be released next month) is one such attempt that didn't quite make it for me; a showcase for the lovely Jesse Jane that her fans will likely adore after some of the flowery Celeste titles she has been in of late (where a little goes a long way, however skillfully made they may be). The movie serves up some short vignettes that often include the contract star in one form or another, but with a slice of different approaches that may appeal more to the artistic part of the audience. If you're still interested, here's a quick look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used:

Scene One: Jesse Jane, the contract hotty featured on the front cover, was up first as she walked in on a movie theatre set up to see herself onscreen working over Jean Val Jean to an appreciative Rick Patrick, who was rubbing himself as he watched. Wanting to get some loving from the tall, tattooed stranger, she purposely dumped her bucket of popcorn all over him to strike up a conversation, eventually feeling around for some to eat but finding his cock instead. The choppy editing was admittedly stylish and the thumping beat seemed timed to match the action, but I would have preferred they all work together instead. The screwing by Daisy and Marco was truncated as bits of Jesse and her feet were introduced, weakening the scene for me somewhat, with the inevitable facial taken by the Latina to close things out. Your mileage may vary from mine but it really didn't do anything at all for me this time.

Scene Three: Alektra Blue, a very pretty gal, and Jesse Jane, were up next in a large home gym. As they gals worked out, they developed a competitive streak with each other, pushing the limits of their work out as I've seen many people do in real life over the years. The music was another thumper of a tune, though the editing looked better this time since it fit the theme for some reason. The gals got rough with one another and were soon altering their plans to include some cardiovascular action, slapping each other and going down as though it were a new version of Richard Simmon's workout program. Jesse established an early dominance, fingering Alektra after tearing off some clothing, but Alektra was no slouch either and hit back with some passion too. I'm not going to say I loved it but I watched it twice and seemed to think it got better with repeated viewings, even if the spitting didn't do anything for me.

Scene Four: Isabella Dior, a fine looking brunette that looked in a mirror to see Jesse's image, quizzed bed buddy Scott Nails, about her resemblance to Jesse Jane with some special effects adding a visual spark. Eventually, this wore down his resistance and he started going down on her, with her rubbing herself as part of the program. There wasn't enough C-Light here for my preferred style, and the starkness of the rest of the lighting wasn't as appealing as the music, with him pounding away on her pussy as they did the deed. After a few positions, she gave him a blowjob but this was the weakest scene of the movie for me since it relied on looks too heavily and not enough active participation by Isabella before the facial.

Scene Five: Jesse Jane, tied up in a closet of an ultra modern bathroom, was up last as Scott Nails readied himself for work. Aside from the unbelievable nature of a male passing up on her charms in order to go to work, she looked good, even in the sepia lighting that the scene was shot in. Personally, I'd have preferred Robby light this one in a more straightforward manner to allow the fleshtones to show her at her best but at least the situation turned around soon and had him getting her wet for action. He freed an arm and she started jerking him off after some kissing, power sucking his rod with her usual sense of gusto before aggressively riding his cock in several positions. As the scene progressed, she licked his balls while he rubbed out a load to her face but I would have preferred her to do it. It wasn't a bad scene but it wasn't as good as I hoped for an ending (though the ending credits were great).

Summary: Jesse Jane: Image by director Robby D. to be released by Digital Playground next month looked to be a serious attempt to try something new that will probably appeal most to the legion of slavering fanboys Jesse has managed to accrue in recent years thanks to her continual presence in the scenes and her graceful manner of strutting her stuff with all the power and passion she commands. In that sense, Jesse Jane: Image is a must have for any Jesse Jane fans for the way it showcases her appeal but with limited extras and a very short running time combined with a couple of scenes that were decidedly weaker than average, the best I could rate it was a Rent It. The strokability and fuck for the buck value was impaired here, making it best suited for those of you with a continuous hard on for the performer but you'll want to check it out before dropping serious cash for it.
