Extra's: The first extra was the 16 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Voodoo. It showed some of the mundane aspects to shooting porn as well as the ladies getting ready for their scenes, some of the secondary players showing a degree of hesitancy to joining in, and a lot of extra nudity. There was also an 11.5 minute long interview with Devinn Lane where she explained how this was her first release for the company, what she looks for in lesbian performers, her attitude about porn in general, and her version of the toilet paper incident (originally, the gal's had TP'ed former friend Brad Armstrong's nice house in an exclusive neighborhood; finding him not happy at the idea since his neighbors already aren't happy with a pornographer's presence in their midst; so the actual footage was unable to be used even if the short bit in the movie was not pointed out as a reenactment with a hired male playing the role of Brad). There was then a photogallery, trailers to movies like College Invasion 9, Blazed & Confused 1, Blazed & Confused 2, Oral Supremacy, Pork BBQ, Guide To Anal Sex, Girls Night Out 1, Girls Night Out 2, Shane's World 37, Shane's World 36, Shane's World Swingers, and Shane's World: Nerdz as well as a toy commercial. There were also minimal cast biographies for the performers and a double sided DVD cover.

Audio/Video Quality: Shane's World Slumber Party 20 was presented in the same 1.33:1 ratio full frame color it was originally shot in by director Devinn Lane for Shane's World. This was her first movie for the company (before she was cut loose) and the technical skills of Voodoo and Nicole Sheridan were in evidence as with some of her other work. In all, the lighting was pretty solid this time but the editing was one area that really struck me as lacking considering this wasn't the same kind of movie the company has been known for making over the years (it used an all star cast rather than civilians) and some cleaning up of the weaker footage might have greatly improved a few of the otherwise very heated scenes. Still, the fleshtones were largely accurate, the ladies all looked great, and the rare moments when the composition of the shots didn't make the cast look great were few and far between with some of the usual energy caught by the uncredited cameramen. The DVD itself had no noticeable compression artifacts and was solidly put together too, despite the extras and amount of footage it contained. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English and offered up the usual amount of chatter, background noise, and generic music the company tends to have in the movie but the fun factor was also very high yet again (and the ladies that were supposed to be heard, were heard).

Body of Review: Devinn Lane was one of the contract gals at Wicked Pictures that always seemed to be there for different reasons than the others she worked with, never quite fitting in as a result. Her transition to director was a mixed event since her work could be really good or really weak with little middle ground to speak of so I was interested to see how she would fare at Shane's World when they gave her a chance to strut her stuff. I've always associated the company with shooting porn for a youthful audience rather than old fogies like me, focusing on less linear shooting and providing more fun factor footage over the formulaic porn I associated Devinn with making previously. Her first shoot for them was to start up the sleepover series that they had formerly been so cool, with Shane's World Slumber Party 20 being the title. Like Slumber Party 19, there was a lot of sex tricks and fun but it seemed like she was trying to emulate someone else's style rather than provide her own version of the hit series, causing me to wonder if using the generic staff might have resulted in largely the same scenes. Still, it was a lot of fun to watch and fans of lesbian action will find the resulting movie as well worth checking out. Here's a brief look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no males had sex so no condoms were used:

Scene One: August Night and Taylor Hilton, the pair in the snapshot seen on the lower right hand corner, were up first in the shower after some of the party games (primarily goofball tricks and oil wrestling) took place downstairs. The ladies lathered up and then the scene cut away to when they were dried off (which kind of sucked since I wanted to see more showering). August was the curvier gal of the duo and Taylor was the skinny type that some prefer but both appeared to like working each other over orally and with their hands. The sex wasn't captured as well as many other scenes shot for the company (the editing was suspect here too) but it was fun to watch, despite the little disappointments on the technical side of things.

Scene Two: Trina Michaels, the curvy hotty (curviest babe of the show overall not including the MILF & pear shape of the director) seen in the green sweater on the lower left hand corner, was up next with some oil wrestling against cutie Julia Bond, the pretty gal standing on the right hand side in pink. I really like both of these ladies and after the fun wrestling, they seemed to get off on working with each other more than a little, substantially more than the last scene (not just because I like them more either). The slow oral, the rubbing, and the fingering were all important components of the scene but it had a gentle dynamic too with the 69 position showing them as great friends engaged in sweet lesbian action together. It ended with the other gals playing and Devinn showering as she tried to recapture her long lost youth.

Scene Three: Katja Kassin, the hot German seen on the lower left hand corner (second gal in, beside Trina), Kimberly Kane, the tallest, thin blonde standing in the group shop near her, and legendary Taylor Hayes, shown on the upper right hand corner in a snapshot pose. Taylor hadn't made a movie in four years so this was her comeback of sorts, not showing as much enthusiasm in the scene as she used to when working with boyfriend Seymore Butts (they had a lot of chemistry back then but her personal demons took over and ended it). Still, Katja was wild and Kimberly did her best to keep up as the two relative newcomers donned strap on dildos to tame the legend on the couch. Taylor tried to make it look like she was into the action but as skilled as she was, the look she provided them varied when it seemed like the camera wasn't focused on her; never coming off as sincerely as Katja or even Kimberly during the scene. There was a lot of toy use here with taste testing (PTM) and I liked the action but it could have been hotter with Taylor seeming to be involved in the movie more for her name than anything else.

Scene Four: Christie Lee, Trina Michaels, Julia Bond, August Night, and Kimberly Kane, were up next as they did a whole lot of twisted acts in the SUV limousine. Initially, Christie got in and had to prove herself to Devinn so she did some solo anal action with a decent sized toy from the company. That led to her shrill scream (piercing my brain) as the other ladies cheered her on. They made the infamous stop to TP Brad Armstrong's house (in a reenactment for legal reasons) but for the record, only Devinn and Kimberly seemed enthusiastic about doing it. The poorly planned incident aside (messing with someone's house is completely uncool unless you ask them beforehand; though all the ladies are welcome to do that at my house anytime they like), the ladies then started a huge lesbian orgy in the limo using a variety of Shane's World toys. The lighting was better than I thought it would be in this one instance, but the jumping around of the action from the separate groups struck me as needing slightly better continuity through editing. Still, I'd have licked the leather seats up after all they did given how much they wanted to have fun. Taylor was gone by this time and it was the only action with Christie but my biggest complaint was how little Trina was allowed to play.

Scene Five: Celeste Starr, a really hot brunette with a sweet look on her face, was up last with lanky Kimberly Kane in a bedroom after the other ladies dropped Kimberly off. The scene was shot in a bedroom and lacked the spontaneity of the other scenes, but the two gals did seem into one another as they slowly peeled off clothing and savored each other orally in a slow, sensual manner. I was surprised that there was so little toy use given how much the other scenes provided but it was a nice change of pace as the tongues and fingers provided plenty of accessories for them to get off with. In general, while some of the action seemed dictated for the movie (as in a lipstick lesbian scene), much of it seemed real, as did their getting off realistically.

Summary: Shane's World Slumber Party 20 by director Devinn Lane for Shane's World really didn't show much of her personality in the movie, proving to be handled in a "by the numbers" manner for the company. I didn't mind that she largely stayed clothed, since her better performer days were gone long ago, but for all the talk she provided about leaving Wicked Pictures to make an all new, great form of porn; there wasn't a lot outside of the normal (admittedly fine) type of movies the company usually makes. Thanks to the great casting though, even the technical issues didn't lower this one below a Recommended rating. In short, Shane's World Slumber Party 20 provided some decent stroke and replay value but nothing to live up to the hype of having Devinn direct (why pay extra for a prima donna director that doesn't add value to her work?). If you like the series though, you'll like this one too, despite the fact that some of the best performers were underutilized.
