Extra's: There were some decent extras offered up this time, including my favorite of the bunch being the 12.5 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Graham Crack Herr. There was some interview material, additional nudity, and a sense of playfulness amongst the performers and crew that served to establish the movie as being a bit rushed but fun for the cast and crew to make. Most of you will appreciate the five unrelated bonus scenes (I outlined most of them below); $2 Bill starring Lanny Barby & Evan Stone; Wild Poppy: with Dasha and Dillion Day; The End Game, with Monique Alexander and Joel Lawrence; Lacie's Life starring Lacie Heart and James Deen; Groupie starring Tawny Roberts and Evan Stone; but they were mostly from older flicks and looked poorly mastered so your mileage may vary. There was also a short text biography for lovely Cassidey, two photogalleries, a second side for the DVD cover that showed four new titles released on DVD (instead of the less explicit version of the primary cover as the company has used for years), some spam (including a front commercial that could be skipped by remote control), and trailers to movies like Debbie Does Dallas Again, Dinner Party, Sexy Young Thing, Colors, and Illicit.

Audio/Video Quality: Cassidey's Day Off was presented in the same 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color it was shot in by director B. Skow for Vivid Entertainment. For those unfamiliar with his background, suffice it to say that his experience outside of porn is superior to many inside the industry and it shows up in his movies, including this one as shot in HD, though presented in the SD format (for now) as shot in 1080i to provide a lot of resolution supporting some of the effects (making it look more like a real movie than just a porno). The lighting was reasonably well handled (with minor exceptions as in parts of scene two), limiting the grain, video noise, and other distracting flaws seen all too often in porn these days; the movie shot in a stark manner to augment the comedic aspects of the movie. The composition of the camera angles and lighting were not always optimal this time, the washed out look giving me the impression that some of the crew were new to each other. The fleshtones were not as accurate this time but the DVD mastering was well done, making it a mixed bag in terms of visual quality. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital offering with the vocals sounding flat and the music pretty decent. For some reason, the levels were lower than usual but aside from the added background noise from doing so, the dynamic range was average and the separation of the vocal track nonexistent.

Body of Review: B. Skow has been a favored director for Vivid Entertainment for awhile now and most of his work has been good enough that I'll pick up his titles out of habit more than relying on who is featured inside of the title. There aren't many directors in porn that I can say this for, noting that even some of the most awarded by critics do not have this status for me. His latest release is Cassidey's Day Off, a feature showcasing the recent coming out of retirement of Cassidey. She's a gal with beautiful eyes and a lean body that has proven to be a favorite wherever she goes; the perfect choice for such a movie. The movie is a twist on reality with Cassidey playing herself as she ducks a porn shoot to help out a friend, resulting in all sorts of chaos. The cover said it like this: "What's a porn star to do on her day off? Everything... Cassidey was supposed to be on an adult video set that day, but a friend needed a replacement for her front desk job at a hotel, so Cassidey obliged. Then she got robbed, kidnapped and locked into a hotel closet. The power goes out, and when it's restored, she breaks free and finds out an astonishing fact: the movie she ditched was being shot in her very hotel! B. Skow presents a wild girl in a wild adventure. With toys, anal, squirting and Cassidey at her absolute nastiest. Yep... it may be Cassidey's vacation, but she won't be the only one getting off..." I wasn't too sure I'd like this one at first but the sex scenes and light plot changed my mind pretty quickly, making it another one to check out for likeminded folks. Here's a quick look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that no condoms were used at all:

Scene One: Morning Sex: Cassidey, the sexy brunette showcased on the front DVD cover in black lingerie, was up first in the living room with Sascha. They shinnied out of their clothing quickly, displaying a sense of needing to do the deed quickly, the gal not caring about her smeared lipstick all over his rod and her mouth. She did not look as good as she did on the cover but that is typical of porn in general and fans of skinny gals will find her appealing in the way that the built for speed types are known for. She blew him aggressively before getting down to actively riding his cock, showing the level of passion she could bring to a scene. I may prefer more meat on the bones than she provided by her bones were pumping away like she was on fire, elevating the scene in all the positions they did together. My only other complaint was the sheer number of blemishes she was sporting on her ass and the display of urination towards the end. I'm not exactly sure why this transition happened (I watched it a few times to see if I missed something) but after a brief dance, they were naked on a small loveseat with her lips wrapped around his cock, sucking the life right out of him. She seemed to playfully savor the cock rather than try to aggressively get him off in record time, a nuance I'm not sure most people speeding through the movie would understand. She over acted here, particularly on the vocals, but considering the second tier nature of the duo, you really can't complain about their showmanship. The screwing was largely him doing all the work and I found this to be one of the worst paced scenes I've seen in a very long time. On the other hand, her oral skills shined when they kept going back to her slobbing his knob (and she did this extensively, with him fingering and going back down on her too) so maybe it wasn't such a bad thing that they moved away from her passive pussy skills, the overall impression I got from it all that it should have been much stronger but it did add stroke value to the movie before he dropped a load of population pudding onto her face.

Scene Five: Cassidey & Evan: Cassidey, now made up to look much better, reclined on the brown leather couch as the mighty Evan Stone worked her over with his tongue. Summary: Cassidey's Day Off by director B. Skow for Vivid Entertainment was a solid showcase feature for the continuing comeback of contract performer Cassidey. The director seemed to be more directly involved with some scenes than others, perhaps delegating the weaker ones to an associate to make the most of the location they rented out for this movie and The American Dream that were made at the same time. This was clearly the better of the two flicks though, providing a good amount of fuck for the buck, strokability, replay value, and other factors worthy of your attention, the cast of ladies proving to be decent for the feature aspects as well. I rated this one as Recommended for fans of features but there was enough heated pairings for others to enjoy it as well. In short, even the comedic aspects of Cassidey's Day Off added to the fun of the fuck flick, proving yet again that director B. Skow has the magic touch.
