Extra's: The best extra was the 21:31 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Mark Stone. It sometimes showed the lighter side of the performers and other times showed more nudity and sex so you really couldn't go wrong with it in most ways. There was also a photogallery but given the choice between moving visuals of hotties diddling themselves, even artistically, and watching some stills; I'll take the movie every time.

Audio/Video Quality: Soloerotica 9 was presented in the same aspect ratios the scenes were shot in over the years by director Michael Ninn for Ninn Worx; the period of time being from October 2002 to May of 2006. Most of the scenes were displayed in 1.33:1 ratio full frame or a letterboxed widescreen, with no anamorphic widescreen to be found this time. The lighting and camera angles were typically stylish, but after the usually brief montages, they seemed to largely be straightforward clips of the ladies fingering themselves to abandon rather than anything particularly ambitious. The use of lighting and effects was not badly portrayed here but I did appreciate that the artistic crud was kept to the opening of the individual scenes most of the time as a little of that goes a very long way in my experience. The bitrate hovered around the upper 6 Mbps mark most of the time, providing enough room to allow for a decent transfer but not enough to cover the weaker scenes that employed slo-motion too often. There were some compression artifacts seen but the visual limitations were never so bothersome as to interfere with the thematic material as a strokers paradise. The audio was presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital with a 224 Kbps bitrate though the vocals were often erased in favor of varying musical interludes that ranged from experimental crud to pretty interesting tidbits worthy of a higher than average rating. The music was not consistent though so your mileage will vary considerably as to the value it did or did not add. Penny's vocals were well done, if slightly hollow, but they were among the handful of exceptions to the rule if you catch my drift.

Body of Review: All By Myself, I Film Myself, and All Alone have all been recent attempts by major companies to provide quality porn catering to fans who want to see females masturbating. Typically in porn, such scenes are either extras or simply the warm up to complete sex scenes so this burgeoning market for such action is a welcome change of pace as watching the usual parolees tap the hotties isn't always on my mind for a quality experience if you catch my drift. There have been other such titles over the years too though, the most stylish being from director Michael Ninn for Ninn Worx; the latest chapter being Soloerotica 9. I haven't seen a volume in the series since Soloerotica 4 years ago but the dynamic is still the same; there were numerous short clips of gals teasing the camera and masturbating to a variety of music pieces in an artistic fashion. The appeal of watching a good looking gal please herself is always welcome on my TV, especially when the huge toys aren't carted out in droves to see which gals can handle the biggest devices (if I wanted a bout of sexual Olympics, I know plenty of companies catering to that dynamic), and to my pleasant surprise, few toys were present in the short scenes of the movie.

One of the strengths of the scenes this time was the quality of the visions provided by the director, a mixture of close ups and medium shots in between the varied setting including outside on the porch, inside on beds, and a host of other places where you could conceivably find ladies willing to masturbate. Ninn has an almost instinctive idea of what works in terms of lighting and while he did seem willing to experiment more than I usually care for, the biggest limitation here was the shortness of the scenes; almost always leaving me wanting more as my personal threshold for holding out has long since become longer than the scenes the series provides. I can't fault the look of the ladies in most cases and their lingerie was always enhancing to their forms but this was pretty much erotica light compared to the marketplace these days and something a bit spicier might work better if you're a jaded old porn hound like myself.

Still, while I really didn't see a lot of replay this time, there was enough to keep me busy for a few hours of quality personal time, warranting a rating of Rent It or better if you aren't too fussy about all the details and have a quick trigger. The emphasis on glamorous looking ladies with perfect make up and specific settings made it a bit too sterile for my current way of thinking but it was not a bad experience for a few rounds of pocket pool overall.

Summary: Soloerotica 9 by director Michael Ninn for Ninn Worx had moments where I enjoyed it more than many of the scenes from All By Myself, I Film Myself, and All Alone but the limitations on the theme were largely responsible for the Rent It status it earned from me. Seeing a varied range of ladies doing lots of frisky things with their bodies is always appreciated but the lack of spark and energy was all too often damning in terms of replayability and stroke value, leaving Soloerotica 9 a title best used with a partner to start a fire rather than allow you to finish up all by yourself watching it.
