Extra's: For many of you, the completely unrelated bonus scenes from Wrong Girl, Burnt Fury, Out of Place, Kayden's First Time, and Two Hot will be the best extras. They were not the best such scenes ever offered on a Vivid DVD but did add some value for me so you might enjoy them too. There were also trailers to Debbie Does Dallas Again, Sex Addict, Double Up, Houseboat, and Two Hot, as well as a biography for hotty Sunrise Adams, a photogallery, some spam, and a positions room too. For me though, the best extra was the 11:35 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Graham Crack Herr. It started off with the main dialog scene of the gals in a round robin discussion, soon having them flub their lines. The BTS then went all over the place with some gals getting little scene time and Sunrise closing it out by discussing her plans for the future.

Audio/Video Quality: Off The Hook was presented in the same 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color it was shot in by director B. Skow for Vivid Entertainment. For those unfamiliar with his background, suffice it to say that his experience outside of porn is superior to many inside the industry and it shows up in his movies, including this one as shot in HD, though presented in the SD format (for now) as shot in 1080i to provide a lot of resolution supporting some of the effects (making it look more like a real movie than just a porno). The lighting was reasonably well handled but some of the scenes appeared to be over saturated and dark with others grainier than normal but much like some of the director's older flicks from a year or so ago that I liked so much. The composition of the camera angles and lighting were almost always optimal this time, Skow seeing fit to try and enhance the look of the ladies at every turn as possible. The fleshtones were not as accurate this time but the DVD mastering was well done (if in a bitrate hovering around 4 Mbps), making it a mixed bag in terms of visual quality. The audio was presented in a 2.0 Dolby Digital English (in 192 Kbps) offering with the vocals sounding flat and the music pretty decent. For some reason, the levels were about the same as usual but aside from the added background noise, the dynamic range was average and the separation of the vocal track nonexistent.

Body of Review: B. Skow is one of my favorite directors at Vivid Entertainment these days, many of his peers having left for greener pastures and PT locked into the "I'm bored with porn and it shows" mode. One of Skow's strengths is his ability to showcase a gal at her best, evidenced by his extensive work with
Lanny Barby, so it came as a pleasant surprise that he was selected to elevate the status of Sunrise Adams in her latest coming out of retirement move; the gal certainly lucky considering some of her previous works. The vehicle for her latest release was Off The Hook, a series of vignettes that starred some appealing ladies in various roles that gave everyone a chance to provide comedy as well as some fine sexual action. Here's what the back cover said about it: "Look, here's the deal on this one: The sex is off the hook! So we called it just that. Sure there's a story - there's a bunch of them. From a rock and roll fantasy to the 'ho next door. But here's what you really need to know: Hillary and Nadia do anal. It's all in Vivid hi-def. Sunrise is everywhere and she has never been so hot! And B Skow outdoes himself with his craziest sex yet. Hook up. Off the Hook. See it now!" If that sounds good to you, here's a look at the scenes by cast and action, noting that one condom was used on Sunny Lane but that was it:

Scene One: Bed & Breakfast: Sunrise Adams, the curvy hotty featured on the front cover, sweet Sunny Lane (whose ass never looked fleshier or better), and moper Mike Striker, were up first in a rustic house as Sunrise and Mike tested their limits with the "young bit of sunshine known as Sunny. Still, the amounts of fuck for the buck, replayability, and strokability were easily enough to warrant a rating of Recommended or better (if you are a fan of Sunrise Adams). In all then, Off The Hook was probably the best new release by Sunrise to date for her fans so give it a look if you get the chance.
