It's Hustler, it's a standard industry feature, all of which means it's nothing
to write home about, either stylistically or visually. Director Bonobo does
apply a widescreen feel to his framing, and the DVD delivers a decent 1.78:1
anamorphic image. But the colors are occasionally muted and the contrasts are
not as crisp as one would like. Still, the exterior scenes are nice and bright,
and Bonobo's basic filmmaking approach gives both the average action and silly
satire room to breath.

Don't get the wrong idea from that synopsis tag. Hustler does it's best to
flesh out this pornographic package with all manner of advertising bells and
whistles. If you like phone sex ads (including one that plays at the beginning
of the DVD that CANNOT be skipped over), commercials for Hustler's stores, more
hype for other company titles (otherwise known as trailers) and the standard
photo galleries, you'll be in added content Heaven. But for anyone wanting a
little more meat for their XXX moolah, the Making-Of featurette is the only
solid extra – and even that's a little lame. It's fun to see the actors
attempting to master swordplay and dialogue, and Stephen St. Croix is forever
the card, but the rest of the backstage showcase is more of the same off the
cuff cutting up.

There is a bright spot, however. Though the Dirge is not sure if this is
standard packaging of just something sent to reviewers, this DVD presentation
contained BOTH Kill Jill 1 and 2. For
those unfamiliar with the first film, it’s a wonderful added bonus. If you
already own it – umm…

 

As the Dirge indicated before when he reviewed Kill Jill Vol. 1, parody has been part of porn since producers
realized that fans really dig the hardcore humor of turning a mainstream movie
into something nude and nasty. Now and then, these lusty lampoons are quite
successful – The Da Vinci Load being
a decent example. In other instances – say, the Sex City series and the Porn
Wars films – the spoof is lost amid aimless, disconnected examples of suck
and fuck. In essence, a burlesque of a well known box office hit has two
benchmarks to meet in the realm of the randy: First, it has to pay particular
homage to the movie being caricaturized, less fans forget what the joke is
about and; Second, it better be hot as Hell. Otherwise, it's just a lame excuse
for the standard smut shuck and jive. Sadly, this film falls somewhere smack
dab in the middle of both dynamics. The humor is hokey and occasionally
half-baked. As for the hardcore, it's decent if somewhat derivative of the
entire non-gonzo ideal of straight sex films.

 

Since she's the star, Mya Luanna gets three out of the five scenes here, so you
better like your pert, petite Asian honeys or you'll find Kill Jill completely
devoid of voluptuousness. Luckily, the movie compensates for this fact by
bringing in two incredibly lusty babes for those of us who enjoy a little
monkey meat on a gal’s bones. While Roxy Deville is a delight, it’s Shyla
Stylez that literally steals this sequel. Her demeanor screams “fuck me raw,
big boy” from the moment we lay eyes on her. As for the sex itself, Mr. Bonobo
loves the close-up, especially in scenes where penis is looking for
pussy/pooper and a little erotic entry. He also tends to avoid long shots,
compositions that would allow us to witness the chemistry between the
performers. Since passion is important to non-aggressive conventional smut, the
lack of such smolder is fairly obvious.

Derrick is back and instead of fucking the supporting players this time, he’s
cozying up with the marquee name. Since he resembles a humanoid penis, it’s not
hard to picture him as a studdly hardcore he-man. Sadly, director Bonobo seems
more interested in his body art and polished chrome dome than Ms. Luana’s lady
parts. With only the big four positions performed, and a relatively lax pop at
the end of it all, this is not a good way to start off the film. In the
previous installment, the Dirge noted that Mr. Pierce was completely out
performed when paired up with Jasmine Byrne. He remains a manageable member
marionette, but that’s all.

Whenever you see Stephen St. Croix’s name in the credits, two things are
certain. One, he’s going to give you some decidedly dopey acting moments. The
guy is the king of XXX goofballing. More importantly, however, he’s an old
school pro who sprays his seed everywhere upon climax…literally everywhere.
Luckily, Ms. Deville is up for both challenges, and she matches him mano y
mammary. Granted, she is WAY too pierced for mainstream beauty (if it’s
possible, she has every erogenous zone tagged, and then some), but she does
deliver in the passion department. Her reactions appear genuine and really
amplify the aggressive mode of the action. St. Croix even spices things up with
a little rough hair pulling. As predicted, the pop goes everywhere – stomach,
tits, shoulder, set backdrop, Cleveland – and everyone appears satisfied when
it’s over. The audience should be as well.

Here it is, the moment we’ve been waiting for. Shyla is finally gonna strip
bare and expose her curvaceous assets for…a girl/girl scene? Sigh. By now, you
know the Dirge gets depressed the minute a pair of lovelies drop their drawers
and make like Sappho. Here, the dynamic is doubly disturbing because Ms. Stylez
looks like she needs dick – a LOT OF DICK- PDQ. We want to see her pounded like chop meat, not playing nice with a
pussy. Even the extensive tongue workout and crystal cock rocking can’t make
this same sex stuff function. Granted, it is much better than most of the femme
fatalism out there, but here’s hoping the next time this supersonic slut puppy
appears on yours truly’s TV, she’s stuffed with dong and eager for more.

This is what they call, in the biz, an insert job – two actors with little or
nothing to do with the story, a scene that sticks out like a hardcore sore
thumb, and a wrap up that finds a way of dismissing their importance to the
overall narrative…if there even is one. In this case, Lindsay and Jean are
demonstrating a fatal sexual technique, and the results are equally deadly for
the viewer – deadly DULL. Ms. Meadows
is a small, weepy thing, looking like the kind of gal who got talked into a XXX
career, not someone balling of their own free will. Mr. Miserables, on the
other hand, is a long haired himbo who believes himself more fetching than
female viewers will actually discover. True, standing cowgirl is always good
for a boner, and side saddle has its pleasures as well. But by the time we’ve
seen the second stab at doggy, we’ve long since stopped caring. We just want
the purposeless moment to end.

There are a couple of issues you will have to get over if you are to enjoy this
final sequence of Kill Jill jousting. First, Van Damage has a weird wiener.
While it may or may not be riddled with that skin pigmentation disease
vitiligo, it sure looks like it. Second, Bonobo has the actor wear a white
beard and wig throughout the entire sex act. As Mya is munching on his meat and
working that wang, we get a Halloween version of Colonel Sanders to stare at.
Now, old man Harlan was a sensual beast, but not in the middle of some XXX
action. Still, Ms. Luana luxuriates in the art of erotica, elevating the
arousal to non fried chicken icon heights.

In both the realm of lampoon and the arena of XXX action, Kill Jill Vol. 2 comes up a little short. You'll almost recognize
some of the characters and situations occurring in this Quentin Tarantino
take-off, and a healthy percentage of the porn is pretty good too. But unlike
other parodies that take meticulous pains to get their deference just right,
this is just hardcore accessorized with some mild narrative merriment. Easily
earning a Recommended rating for what it gets right, and  a Cohabitation
Certification for its genial XXX action, all involved should be pleased at how
this homage turned out. While it never does capture the genre-redefining daring
of the famed video store clerk turned director, it has other, more unique gifts
to offer. Now if QT could just get into making porn, all would be right with
the world.
