Extra's: The best extra for most of you will be the 12:07 minute long bonus scene from Delilah between Kaylani Lei and Randy Spears. It wasn’t very long but it adds some value for those of you that don’t already have the movie so I described it below. There was also an extended version of the fourth scene between Kaylani Lei and Voodoo lasting 19:15 minutes long, but I could see why it was trimmed down for the movie itself. My personal favorite was the 20:11 minute long Behind the Scenes feature by Jax (and edited by Jef) as it gave a better look at what they cast & crew were trying to do. There was some nudity and clips of action from the sex scenes but it didn’t provide many bloopers, insights from anyone other than Jonathan Morgan or additional material not found in the movie itself. The bloopers were given a 5:42 minute section all to themselves though, making me figure they were edited out of the BTS for Easter Eggs but placed here for the lazy folks that never bother to look for them. There were four photogalleries, some star stats, a promo reel, the usual DVD Rom material, and 11 trailers to movies like The Craving, Operation Desert Stormy, Coming Home, Perfect Match, Made in the USA, Becoming Carmen Hart, The Visitors, Supernatural, Black Widow, Melt, and Love Always. There was also a true double sided DVD cover and a cardboard slipcase for the case.

Audio/Video Quality: Next was presented in the same 1.78:1 ratio anamorphic widescreen color it was shot in by director Jonathan Morgan for Wicked Pictures as shot & mastered in High Definition (with assistance by Francois Clousot) but encoded in MPEG-2. The DVD was not an HD DVD release but it did look pretty well shot, using video instead of film to limit grain and a lot of darker shots to mimic real life encounters (let's face it, most sex doesn't take place in well lit settings) with my only caveat being that the resulting shadows were not always compensated for in how Francois presented them. There were compression artifacts (it was typically showing a bitrate of mid 5 Mbps) and the overall impression the movie left with me was that more care was applied here than in some of the company's other lower budget releases, making it a treat to watch by comparison. The audio was presented with a choice of either a 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround English (with a bitrate of 384 Kbps) or a 2.0 DD track in Spanish. I listened to the English track and while I didn't hear any appreciable separation on the audio most of the time, it was nicely put together otherwise. The music was uncredited but did manage to add a comedic feel to the movie's scenarios, making that aspect pretty decent . Still, as limited the audio was in this low-level budget feature, it was handled pretty well overall.

Body of Review: Jonathan Morgan has long been the established comedy director for Wicked Pictures and while he has had a decidedly lower profile in recent years, there are a lot of fans (myself included) that await his return to the big budget features he always managed to knock out of the park. Until that time, he has assisted other directors in a number of ways as well as helmed some more intimate flicks guaranteed to make you smile, the latest being Next; a story of a hotty (Kaylani Lei) looking for love in all the wrong places, typically to comic effect. Her attempts at speed dating result in a number of mismatched encounters, including some delightfully accurate glimpses into geekdom by a variety of cameo guests hamming it up like crazy. If this sounds good to you, here’s a quick glimpse into the five scenes by cast and action, noting that condoms were used in each scene but did not impair the heat of the action:

Scene One: Brianna Love, this year’s stand out performer for many fans, was up first with muscular Derrick Pierce on the couch after she extolled his many manly virtues to her pal Kaylani over a bottle of wine. Brianna played the giddy gal pal to the hilt, the seductive nature of their sexual encounter a bit rushed for my taste and lacking in tease but still a nice change of pace from all the ultra hardcore stuff she does everywhere else. He savored her crotch and she blew him enthusiastically, the two actively riding in several vaginal positions before he launched his load of population pudding onto her tight tummy. I liked the chemistry they shared and the amount of medium shots the camera gave them (preferred over the vastly over used close ups) but Brianna pretty much showed that she instill heat even in a sexually limited scene such as this so I look for even more from her in 2008.

Scene Two: Kissy Kapri, playing a sexy little MILF secretary, was up next in a luxurious bed with studly Tommy Gunn doing the honors. I thought her lingerie really added something special to her look and her over the top moaning seemed almost natural coming from her as Tommy drilled away at her cookie. Her all natural titties were flopping all over the place but that gave the show some appeal compared to the implant queens so popular at the company; I just wished she was more active in the riding portion of the scene. It ended when he jerked out a modest wad to her biscuit, the lady seeming to appreciate the taste as she rubbed it into her body.

Scene Three: Brianna Love, again doing a wonderful job as the cock hungry honey, hooked up with Alex Sanders after an amazingly silly speech and speed dating session led by Dick Nasty (in a “Killer Bee” suit). There were a host of uncredited extras here and the nod to Kaylani leaving for an exciting night at home (in her mind) before Michael Raven and Jim Enright, channeling Evan Stone, engaged her to show they didn’t mind having some fun (Jonathan sure must have some dirt on them…). In any case, Brianna was impressed at Alex’s ability to cloud her mind using the modern day equivalent of a Jedi Mind Trick; tossing her over his shoulder with her sweet ass cheeks sticking out from her white skirt until they made it to the laundry room where they engaged in a quickie. They undressed with a sense of urgency and went down on each other, the missing tease again bugging me but only after watching it a few times thanks to the sense of passion they displayed. The oral led to a very short bout of boning, her pussy draining his balls dry in short order with her rubbing it out to her mouth. Yum!

Scene Four: Kaylani Lei, the hotty contract gal on the front cover, was up next as she fantasized about Voodoo in her dream bedroom (as seen in the comedic portions of the movie). He played an over the top Frenchman trying his best to seduce her, the pair wisely spending some time kissing and stroking each other before completely disrobing and doing the oral. She began by dropping to her knees to slob his knob, taking her time to savor the moment as she looked up at him, surprising me at how solid a job she could do. I enjoyed the longer version in the extras section better but it was a decent scene with some serious replay value for couples. I also enjoyed how she increased the tempo as the scene progressed, getting more into the action instead of carrying forth at the same level all the way through. The scene ended with the facial and some post coital sucking, reminding me why she was a contract gal in the first place. Nice!

Scene Five: Kaylani Lei, skipping out on the wonders of Voodoo after a delightful trailer trash bit by Carmen, ended up with Steven St. Croix after Brianna and Alex took off to get married in Reno. He kind of stumbled along and was her savior by providing a ride home to the stranded gal. He was about to leave when she invited him in to get a bite to eat, Chinese food rather than herself. The movie flash forwarded to six months later and after some cell phone drama; Kaylani was buzzing away with Steven in the large bed. This was less the porn sex most of us are familiar with than the type of real couples sex, Kaylani spending some time cuddling in bed with him before inhaling his cock slowly. He used his hands to warm her up along with his tongue, some foot fetish sucking done before he eventually gave her a few minutes of vaginal screwing. She really didn’t have enough time to get active on his rod here and an extended version of this scene would have been appreciated too but Steven busted his wad on her chest before carefully looking for clean spots to kiss as the scene faded out to the credits.

Bonus Scene: DelilahKaylani Lei, an attractive Asian gal with a substantial fanbase, was up next in bed with studly Randy Spears as the two of them stroked each other and otherwise employed a lot of frisky caring to get one another off. This was another darker scene but again showing all the detail needed for the type of sexual contact taking place as he went down on her, she reciprocated, and then the two screwed like happy like bunnies. She was not as active a bed buddy as Jessica but it was still a decent little romp for a couples dynamic, reminding me that the audience for this kind of feature if a far cry from the plethora of gonzo crud populating the shelves of the marketplace. He busted his nut on her firm little ass after she ground her hips into his cock to milk him dry; showing me one of her best scenes to date.

Summary: Next by director Jonathan Morgan for Wicked Pictures was definitely a far cry from his best works at the company but this was due largely to the scale of the movie more than any lack of creativity on his part. I would have liked to see the comedy aspects expanded upon almost as much as the sex parts too, always a good sign that a reviewer is being entertained by both aspects of the show. The technical matters were decent as were the extras so I ended up giving this one a rating of Recommended, though those of you looking for a cute couples fuck flick will certainly find it to be a winner in many ways that an old porn hound like me would be hard pressed to fully appreciate. Brianna and Kaylani did a fine job in their roles and the cameo cast was all good enough that I wanted more from them too, though I’ll be extra careful to watch out for Julia Ann if she invites me to her room next month. In short, Next was a surprisingly cute comedy that might not compete with the likes of scope of projects like Operation Desert Stormy but it was more consistently amusing at probably five percent of the budget of the blockbuster so give it a look.
